Has anyone heard after May 15th ?

I called today and they said that some offers will be made late next week. 😉

yee haw--let the waiting continue! good luck everyone 🙂
don't be discouraged! it'll happen when it's supposed to happen.

Jon

has anyone heard anything yet? hhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa this wait is killing me.... 😱

I don't think this will make anyone feel better, but I know of a couple of instate people that got off the waitlist last thursday. Make of it what you will, I just wish they'd let me know something sooner rather than later.

at this point, are the in-state and out of staters on two different waitlists?
i remember Amy B saying after May 15, we are on 2 different lists.
so if instaters were pulled last week, maybe they are working on the out-of-staters list.

hang in there guys...once other lists start moving, i'm hoping MCV will too.

don't know who you talked to earlier this week, but I called today and talked to someone who said it would be another week or two before more offers went out. She also told me that the large set of "post 15th" offers went out at the end of last week. Sorry everyone. More waiting, but at least it is moving.

i am going crazy down here waiting.... what really suxs is i am not completely sure what my options are for my 2nd time applying.. i will probably need to retake the mcat's (low verbal), and maybe do a postbac.. but i am not excited at all about that!!

hmm- i'm surprised at how little out of state movement there seems to have been...unless the people aren't SDN people. let me know if anyone hears anything new.
happy weekend! Jonathanamine

jonathan - i think the last set of offers may have been just for instaters. with all the sdners we would have heard something from someone on here about actually getting an offer - that's just conjecture on my part though. let us know if you hear anything. good luck.

I called yesterday and spoke with Mr. Weatherford and he told me no such offers have been sent. He indicated that about 5-10 people may have been given an offer but not a big chunk. So I guess we still have to wait and see. 😱 😱

Thanks for calling xoomn. Any ideas on when/if there will be lots of waitlist movement? Good luck everybody.

yeah thanks for calling xoomn. good luck, hopefully we will hear something in the next week or so.

Did he mean 5-10 instaters? Because if he did that is a big chunk and probably is the major post May 15th waitlist movement.

he really did not say if they were all instater or all out staters . I assume that it may be a bit of both. 😉

This is good news! I was worried that the waitlist has moved alot and that it's going to be very slow for the rest of the summer. Hope we all get in!

for everyone on the instate waitlist....it looks as though it is moving really slow. they apparently have just gotten through the list to the point they usually have by early April. so they are pretty far behind previous years. so depressing. 🙁

jeg5q, did you hear this from someone or is it speculation? My guess is that since they only take 60% instaters, the waitlist for instaters is going to move slowly anyways. I figure that once UVA lets in a few more instaters, there will be a domino effect and MCV will let in a few more. But other than that, I doubt it will move much.

i won't say from where, but it comes from a student who spoke with met with someone in the office. i consider it to be pretty reliable, i took it to mean that they haven't seen the type of movement they usually do....i do hope that it picks up and moves faster than usual for this time of the year. i guess it could still do that, and i do agree with you about the trickle down effect from UVA. anyways, if anyone else hears anything let us know. peace.

Well I had to commit somewhere so I did at my state school and have thus withdrawn my waitlist spot at MCV. Good luck everybody.

Way to go, Catch33. Congrats!
Somebody had predicted a lot of movement on out-of-state waitlist. S/he was right. Looks like everyone who posts here have got in. Now I think that I know why the average GPA?s for VCU matriculants is relatively low. Successful applicants with higher scores always move on to their better choices. The attempt to improve the average accepted GPA?s only perpetuate such favorable cycle for out-of-state applicants whom seriously want to get in or only want a good and reliable back up school. However, it looks to me like VCU would also give a good chance to applicant who has only good GPA?s and its transcript. In any case, don?t miss this one out, folks!

Instate applicants are not as fortunate because they are more determined to get in. Hang in there folks. Best of luck!

Congrats Catch33 (nice avatar too)...lets hope that out of state list keeps moving!

I believe that you are the only one here still on the out of state waitlist. The rest have either been accepted or moved on. Hang in there. I trust that whatever are in your application, they have brought your dream so close to reality. Best of luck to you. Hope that you get abbieQ's spot.

There is nothing to lose to keep in touch with them on e-mail, I think. Someone else can give you a better advice on this.

bosox, definitely stay in touch with them and let them know how interested you are. The people in admissions are very receptive and friendly. I tried to check in with them once a month when I was waitlisted just to see where I stood. I think calcrew offers great advice to keep in touch with them.

Good luck! It would be great to have another Sox fan as a classmate!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your support. I have been trying to keep in touch with the office too by sending update letters, etc even though I am not sure how much it effects the "priority score." Its been a long road, I interviewed way back in September, but hopefully it all works out for the best.

Hi everyone,
God has blessed me and I have been accepted to VCU/MCV (Saturday). Man it feels great. Very much excited. 🙂 Anyone else who is still waiting just hang on ...it's going to come...BTW, I'm an in-stater...

Congratulation!
Let both lines move down to the very ends. :luck:

Congratulations on everyone who was just accepted. I'm on the out of state wait-list as well. I check this thread pretty much every day but this is my first post. I've been sending letters of interest every couple of weeks, but haven't been sending any e-mails. Who is the person to e-mail? I tried calling Mr.Weatherford to set up a meeting with the Dean (to express further interest), but he said writing letters was the way to do this. Any advice? Thanks!

Anyone have any news? For those of you who were e-mailing to check on status, etc, what address were you sending your e-mails to? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

KCW

no more offers for a couple of weeks. that's the info I got today. some of the staff is out of the office. good luck to all in July. 🙂

Well, better to know and maybe relax a bit. Did you call to get this information or did you e-mail (Mr. Weatherford or someone else?). Thanks! 🙂

i'm trying to find housing out there...to all the richmond folk- where is the best place to live? i battled with the idea of dorm-living, but decided against it. i'm going to live by myself the 1st year...it's a bit more expensive, but that way i have a year to figure things out...no stress of conflicting roommate personalities i don't know, etc. then of course i'll move in with some more peeps M2-M4.

here 's the place i was thinking about- Branblewood Estates.
any thoughts? thanks! 🙂

hey jonathanamine,

i was checkin out that same place too, what did u think of it? do u know how far it is away from the medical campus? i ran a search on apartments.com and came up with a few other places too, all seemed pretty nice, but they're quite a distance from the school. i know there's a new complex opening up this year for graduate students on broad street, but i don't think u can have your own one bedroom apartment. i feel the same way as u too in that i think i'm gonna live by myself during first year. anyway, if u come across anything else, could u let me know? thanks. gluck finding a spot!

I am still on the instate waiting list. I'm wondering if it's time to give up soon....I don't know how much more waiting I can take...

Hang in there. It's all in the game. Sometime it helps to know that a waiting period would be from May to the first few days of August.

I don't know about instate situation at VCU. I do know that people got in a UC school late last July with MCAT as low as 27. A matriculant was driving to Tulane when he was accepted at USC. A few years ago, another one got in after a re-interview at a school in midwest in the first week of August. Those are few examples. There were more, if you only followed this forum late last or early this season.

Good luck,

That's good to know. The fact that it's mid-June does bother me a little bit too (I'm on the out of state waitlist), but I seem to get the impression that the waiting game isn't over yet. I think the Dean is out of the office for the next two weeks. I imagine the wait list won't move for until she returns, or at least that's what someone said a few posts ago. Good luck to all! 🙂

Bump . . . any news? I don't know if we'll hear anything until the Dean returns, but I thought I would just check and see. Good luck everyone! 🙂

Bump. The automated e-mail I got from the dean mentioned she would be back on July 6th. Hopefully we'll all hear some good news shortly after that. Good luck! 😉

Well, there will be one spot opening up soon...I'll be withdrawing my application at the end of this week.

I hope one of you waitlistees get it...

I stayed on their instate wait list until August 12th and then recieved an email stating classes were starting and I was out of luck. Not in those exact words, but similar.

I have noticed in the last several years the waitlist movement is really slow. There no longer seems to be a big movement around May 15th or around the time that UVA list starts to move. Just a trend. Sorry. I hope you all get through the list. Good luck.

I knew that my chance to get in a school was slim. It would have to be off a waitlist somewhere late. A lot of matriculants that I personally knew seem to get in their schools (in and out of state) from June on.

Someone posted that schools know where applicants are accepted in late April. I was accepted two weeks after that. Prbably, I was taken off the waitlist because I was a sure bet?

There are several of Richmond connections here: Looks like on campus (MCV) housings for professional students and post grads are not available. Is it wise to live alone downtown within a mile off campus? And would you buy a Honda or a Toyota in Richmond or in the vicinity of those three airports: IAD, DCA or BW?
Thanks

Live in the Fan! You can take the bus to the VCU campus, hop on the shuttle to MCV and you're there in a few minutes. I was gonna live there before my other acceptance came through so I did a lot of research on living arrangements and transportation. But I would definitely invest in a car.

The Fan seems like a cool place to live, with lots of young people around. Richmond in general seems like a nice, laid-back place to go to school--you'll enjoy it! Congrats.

Good luck,
Arusak
