MCW Class of 2012

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Transparency is a good thing. Random ranting patients and tiny sample sizes are not a good thing. Check out the Wisconsin Hospital Association's Checkpoint and Pricepoint to see how ratings can be done empiracally and fairly. The random online stuff is useless, meaningless and harmful.

Also, you'll probably get a lot more responses in the mail allo forum than here.

Shall do. Thanks for the advice

I agree with most of the other postings. People are going to report negative feelings more often because of negative feelings about the medical field in general these days and because "satisfied" doesn't elicit the same motivation to respond as "ruined my life forever."
But the fact is freedom of speech means these sites are here to stay whether we like it or not. I think the best move might be to garner awareness for these sites AT the physicians office. Encouragement toward positive response could help offset the negative bias and maybe provide a more realistic picture of the physician.

I mean we've all seen the "How's my driving?" signs for semi drivers, it'd be like "How's my slicing?" for surgeons, right? lol

Gosh, I've never thought about looking at these sites to choose my own doctors. I'll be sure to give positive ratings for my primary md & ophthalmologist.

Okay, I drove past this place about 15 minutes ago, and there's no sign saying there's anything for rent, so I couldn't find a phone number either. There's a house across the street that says it has a 3BR available - (414) 258-1791.

I think this is the place that I was asked about though.

I live in the brown brick building. They have 1 and 2 br. The 2 br are 815 a month including heat and underground parking. Walkable to school. The 3 br house looks really nice

How long is the walk? Do you know if they include heat? Or is it extra? Thanks.

It's probably about a mile. See bolded for other answer to question. 😉

I was just reading/filling out the health questionnaire and one of the "Animal in contact with and Frequency of Exposure" categories is Food. Am I just being a smart *** or is there some other meaning behind it? Like animal food, raw food, something else?

huh? Is the quote the whole sentence? I don't see why it has categories.

underground parking and heat for that price? holy crap. That is pretty much all you'll need...well, that and coffee.

So, do the math:

1 tank of gas per month (because you can walk to school)
100 dollars/month because you get free heat (fall, winter, and early spring months)
underground parking (what is your time spent shoveling worth to you?)

what's a tank of gas going for these days? $200?

It cost me $339 in gas to drive my rental truck from Wisconsin to Delaware. Also, 15 hours of my life that I'll never get back. Plus $591 for the truck itself, and about $50 in tolls, although the total is still pending on that one.

Yuck. I'm just going to start my own residency program and train myself out of my apartment.

The quote is the name of the form. The categories are animals or other things you're exposed to on a daily basis...
cats, gerbils, dogs, latex, etc.
One of the choices happens to be food and I was wondering if anyone had any insight into this one.

I tried looking for my forms. I have copies of them somewhere, but I can't find them now.

I'm still confused by it. Of course you're exposed to food on a daily basis, unless they meant food animals like cows/farms, but the only time I've seen that as an issue is when I flew to Australia after England had the outbreak of foot and mouth disease.

As Ashers said ..it does include heat. Walking takes me about 10-15 mins(.7 miles or so). And they have 1 and a half baths which i really like. Oh and the underground parking. Depending on the apt you get, they usually replace all the carpet and for us they re did the bathrooms ( new floors and new sinks). I like it..and they didnt raise our rent for the coming year 😀

I only have a 312 on my boards...do you think i can match at your program??? What is the trauma and call like at your program?

I heard it's pretty malignant. Call is in-house and consists of jumping up whenever the kitten knocks something over.

From what I hear the drama in this program is over-the-top as well. Makes Grey's Anatomy look like Sesame Street. And don't even get me started on the raging chlamydia outbreak everyone seems to get after using the call rooms.

No, that was just a season's end cliffhanger. It turns out they all had cat-scratch fever.

I have a question concerning the MCW health insurance. I *most likely* will be able to find my answer on one of those PDF files, but the work computers at the EUH ED don't have adobe reader (and I can't download it on to one...poo!)

So, I'll try asking it here...please don't kill me for my dumb question. 😉

When does the MCW health insurance's coverage start? I currently don't have health insurance, but I probably need one before I get my physical done for school. Any idea? 😕

Thanks y'all.

It's either the first day of orientation or August 1.

It begins August 1st. I know I checked last year. I think I got the cards for the insurance in the mail well before orientation (if you get all the paperwork in on time)

And, for your future knowledge, it ends June 30 the year you graduate.

How did you all go about picking a PCP for the HMO?

They tend to push you to Sandra Green to go to Sargeant. You don't get to see an actual MD, you see an NP. Personally, I don't like seeing them because I really only go to the doctor when I have something wrong that I need figured out, and occasionally for medicine.

I'm just bored at work (only 2 more days!) and just wanted to post. No reason. Getting ready for the "big move" in July. Anything exciting take place in Milwaukee that month? Since I will be sitting around.

Summerfest is June26-July 6 if you're gonna be there then. It's a pretty good time.

agh! drunken crowds.

besides the commute and distance from friends, Indian food, and my most special Indian friend, I'm actually glad I live in West Bend...it's not a "small town" as I would define it, but it feels much more homey and comfortable than living in Milwaukee.

That doesn't really contribute to the conversation, but I felt like saying something more than just a negative comment about drunken crowds at summerfest.

There are other ethnic festivals that are a bit less crowded than Summerfest. But IrishFest isn't until August, usually.

I've never had trouble seeing the bands I want to see. The oodles of pretty girls aren't bad either...

"Ooh...we remember you, Prowler!"

Sorry folks, I really had no choice.

I don't even want to know what else you must have seen while googling that picture.

did ya really need to quote him so the picture'd be there twice?

if thats the crowd, count me in. do the men come in a similar condition?
