So I guess its safe to assume that M1 block 2 is the toughest in all of med school?
Ah, no, it's not the toughest. The spring semester finals blew fall block 2 out of the water.Ah, the 'Location: New jersey' on your profile had me thinking you were attending a different, 'more prestigious' medical school...

Alright guys, so here I am sitting in the library, and then all of the sudden the roof starts dripping water next to me. I'm like, wtf is going on here. I give it a min thinking maybe this will subside, then all of the sudden the roof starts dripping in three more spots. Then it starts pouring like a freakin waterfall, so I get the librarian... As I type, a cop and a janitorial service man are addressing the problem.
omg, G-h-E-t-T-o
I guess this gives credence to the saying 'not all that glitters is gold'![]()
Ghetto is when the librarian gets a bucket and goes back to work. When there's janitorial staff on the job day and night, that spells m-o-n-e-y.
If you come here, you will be amazed at how many janitors they have here, and how often they clean. When it's snowing outside and the sidewalks have been salted, they mop the floors about every hour during the day. No joke.Valid point 🙄

And I was there, but I didn't see the water. I heard someone approach a librarian about it though.

I don't know any of their names, honestly. I wonder why the school contracted out the custodial work, rather than just hiring their own people. Those CleanPower people really do a good job. 👍
Does Sonny still patrol the halls in the early morning hours on the second floor, or did he retire?

I was basing my assumption on what an M1 student told me, I guess hes got a lot to learn.
... and you've got a TON to learn.
Of course, you have to realize that no one (except maybe Don and I) has any idea what the toughest part of medical school is... and I'm pretty sure Don and I don't know either. That's like asking a freshman in high school what the hardest part of high school is... doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm not sure you can appreciate it until you're past it. Block 2 of all semesters is hard. Studying for step 1 is hard. Trying to motivate yourself for step 2 is not especially easy. Studying for a shelf exam while working 80 hours a week is hard. Staying motivated during the last few days of your fourth year rotations is a little rough too. It all depends on what your strengths are, personally, and how you deal with stress. Me, I'm good under pressure. I like to have deadlines. The harder thing, as far as the big picture goes, is trying to balance everything, graduating medical school ready for residency and maintaining some semblance of normal humanness.
Just my 2 cents though, what do I know?
I'm just picturing Ashers sitting in the grass on a blanket, playing with her orthopedic tools and making noises to go along with them. But if you don't go outside, you can't go play orthopedic surgeon! I'm just saying.

the hardest part of med school is going to class after the novelty wears off.
after you get your acceptance letterWhen does the novelty set in?

Im just looking for some insight into Wauwatosa and the area surrounding the MCW campus. Is it a farely safe place to live? I have heard mixed things about the area and have been told that parts of Milwaukee are to be avoided. Do medical students ever feel threatened by the environment of Wauwatosa? Is the area surrounding the school mostly made up of students?
Har har. Understatement of the year award. 😛going too far east along North Avenue is probably not such a hot idea.

Unless you are married and consider a "wild night" to be one during which you get hopped up on soda and actually complete a game of Monopoly.
East side is going to be more of a "wild night" than downtown."comatosa". You should live downtown because you're eventually going to want to. Unless you are married and consider a "wild night" to be one during which you get hopped up on soda and actually complete a game of Monopoly.
suPAR-I was accepted to MCW for class of 2012. I also rejected my offers to the other schools I was accepted. Have you had any luck getting your credit report from the website the school suggested? I sent two requests in (early and late Oct) and I still haven't heard anything. Congrats on your acceptance.
Just posting cause I got accepted today and I'm pumped!

Has anyone starting thinking about housing yet? or do any of the knowledgeable hijackers have any input on where to live and whether buying is a good idea? I know it's still really early, but I was accepted in June and I want to leave myself enough time to work out a good roommate situation.
Thanks, guys...I can't wait to make the move and get outta the current living situation (moved out from the apt. with the ex-fiance and back in with the 'rents...ugh)!!
I'm in!
