Basically two quizzes about the 'right' specialties for you. Post your top 5 for one or both, and if they are specialties you are at the moment interested in or not.

Click here for the first quiz.

Second Quiz, this is more accurate personally
    _________________________________________________________________
    My results for Quiz 1:
    Rank Specialty Score
    1 nephrology 43
    2 allergy & immunology 42
    3 physical med & rehabilitation 42
    4 neurology 41
    5 aerospace med 41

    WTF? :uhno:

    Quiz 2:
    1. Dermatology (meh)
    2. Ophthalmology
    3. Otolaryngology
    4. Plastic Surgery
    5. Gastroenterology

2nd quiz was more accurate for me. How about your results?

Please note this is just for fun.

So are med students and other pre-meds who post the same thing.

I only took the second one and got these:

    Neurosurgery (96.1)
    Pediatric Surgery (97.99)
    Emergency Medicine (111.01)
    Thoracic Surgery (112.15)
    Vascular Surgery (117.75)

Apparently, lower numbers reflect a "closer alignment" with a particular specialty.

EDIT: Just finished the first quiz

    Pathology 50
    Physical med & rehabilitation 47
    Thoracic surgery 46
    Neurology 46
    Nephrology 46

I still agree with the second quiz a little more. I don't think I would ever enjoy pathology.

    For me,

    Dermatology 41.68  :D :)

    Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 50.64
    Radiation Oncology 54.54
    Allergy and Immunology 56.88
    Ophthalmology 58.9
    Psychiatry 68.86
    Neurology 74.34
    Otolaryngology 74.83

Dermatology is my NUMBER 1 program I am gunning for :). But I first have to get into medical school :)

Honestly, this quiz was pretty accurate but I can tell a lot of my results are ROAD specialities results o_O

I had really low numbers compared to these...

    EM 17.04
    Pediatric Surgery 21.71
    Pulmonary/Critical Care 25.9
    Plastic Surgery 27
    Orthopaedic Surgery 27.09

    Haha fat chances...

Edit: the only thing I had repeated in both top 5s was ortho... I wonder what that says about me

Top one was Otolaryngology (ENT), which is all that matters because that is what my heart is set on

    1st quiz
1 gastroenterology 48 (I'm actually really interested in this!)
    2 dermatology 47 (and this..)
3 allergy & immunology 45 (Have no experience, so idk, but it sounds fun)
4 general internal med 44 (also interested)
    5 endocrinology 44 (Yep.)

    2nd quiz:
    1 Dermatology (Interested)
2 Otolaryngology (Kind of? Just b/c I used to sing..)
    3 Ophthalmology (Eh... not really)
    4 Radiation Oncology ([IMG])
5 Sports Medicine ([IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] Not at all interested..)

First one was way more dead on for me than the second one..

It seemed like the first quiz was repeating the same questions..

    First:

Radiology- I have strong interests in radiology, but I do want some patient interaction so IR is a consideration.
    Pathology- Little interests in pathology.
    Neurology- Ehhh.
Neurosurgery- Love neurosurgery but I don't know if I could handle the hours.
    Infectious Disease- Something I'd consider.

    Second:

    Radiology- See above.
    Pediatric Surgery- Interested.
    Cardiology- Interested.
    Radiation Oncology- Highly interested.
    Dermatology- No interest whatsoever.

    2nd quiz:
    Pathology- 24
    Preventive Medicine- 31.75
    Radiology - Diagnostic- 32.8
    Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation- 33.01
    Radiation Oncology- 37.06
    Allergy and Immunology- 43.04
    Neurology- 43.58

These specialties have all been in my mind this past year w/the exception of preventative medicine. I'll have to research it!

    test one:
1 neurology 42 - could definitely see that
    2 cardiology 41 - this one too
    3 nuclear med 40
    4 pulmonology 40
    5 urology 40 - ?? why?!

test two is less accurate for me, but here it is:
    Neonatal - Perinatal Medicine
    Radiation Oncology
    Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
    Hematology
    Gastroenterology

Both told me pretty distinctly that I should be ENT - I hadn't even really considered that. I also got thoracic surgery (badass) and neurosurgery (also badass) in both, but to a lesser degree than ENT.

I agree that the 2nd test is more accurate. I've taken the first one before and it always ranks number 1 as my least favorite.

Pulmonary / Critical Care Medicine - maybe
    Urology - probably not
    Pediatric Surgery - kinda cool!
Otolaryngology - number one interest at the moment!
    General Surgery - pretty interested
Vascular Surgery - probably my second choice!

Seeing a lot of pre-meds interested in ENT. Kinda cool since I dont think ive actually ever ran into another pre-med who had the same interest as me.

1st quiz was too long so I didn't bother doing it....

    2nd quiz:

Dermatology - better start studying for Step 1 asap!
    Psychiatry - yeaa buddy
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - have definitely considered this
Allergy and Immunology - :annoyed: no thanks...
    Ophthalmology - borring.....
Pediatrics - :D ideal choice but there are some major cons to the profession that are making me reconsider
    Family Practice - no...no...no :bang:
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - could definitely see myself doing this
Radiation Oncology - not sure how I could deal with cancer patients everyday but it is a very interesting field
Rheumotology - ok field but I'm not that interested in it.

I'd say that the 2nd quiz was pretty accurate.

Just curious, why do you find dermatology appealing? The money w/ lifestyle? Honest question.

Yeah I just took first quiz...

    Radiology - No....
Dermatology - Don't know how this keeps coming up as a top choice.
    Pediatrics -
    Nuclear Medicine - :wtf:
Emergency Medicine - Can't imagine all that stress every day. :scared:

I don't think the first quiz is accurate at all.

    Quiz 2:

    Cardiology
    Pediatrics
    Medical Oncology

This could not have been more accurate! I'm very interested in pediatrics and/or pediatric oncology. Additionally, I loved my experiences shadowing cardiologists and had that high on my list as well.

    Try Quiz 2!
