Lippincotts has one and I really liked their biochem book..try to get your hands on their micro book and see if you like it

Lippincotts 100% iss best
other great refrenceses include MIMs Medical microbiology .. or LANGE review of microbiology

Micro made ridiculously simple is just that--ridiculous and simple.
Good to give you the basics but Lippincotts is the best if you want to understand it.

I liked Lippincott's and Micro Made Red. Simp.

You might want to check out Murray's Medical Microbiology:

or
Jawetz Medical Microbiology
http://books.mcgraw-hill.com/getbook.php?isbn=0071412077&template=medical
(A new edition is due for April 2007, but I don't think you will wait for that 🙂)

As far as review books go, you can use a more comprehensive resource than CMMRS for your class, such as Lange Review of Medical Microbiology and Immunology:

Good luck!

Well I was the type to buy and read every text under the sun during year 1 and 2 and even 3 since I didnt go to class and I have to say the best by far was Lange Microbiology and Immunology Review by Jawetz-His bigger book. Lange Microbiology by Jawetz was good too but I prefered the review-the review still had more than enough detail and it was just the right amount. Especially for Step 1-it was perfect but more than enough for the class as well.

I read murray-I honestly though the lange review had more detail and was about 1/3rd the size-murray had wasted wordiness and confusion

MMRS-was popular but I found it was much less organized than the Lange book and I did not like the "fun" style of a micro book-I prefer amore seriosubook but people did swear by it so may be worth checking out-I think it has enough info to do realy well-it just comes down to wheather or not youlike this style.

But lange micro and immuno review or the MMRS forsure

Well, well, well.
Microbiology?
ok, My advice is to use one of these(arranged from best to worst in my opinion):
  • Jawetz Medical Microbiology (Lange) 👍
  • Murray's Medical microbiology 👍
  • online textbook of South Carolina university link==>pathmicro.med.sc.edu/book/welcome.htm 👍
  • Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews Microbiology
  • Medical Microbiology by Greenwood

PS You should buy a separate Immunology textbook (no Microbiology and immunology) I suggest "Lange Medical Immunology by Parslow, Stites,...)

🙂
