Anyone have a December interview for Downers Grove? :)

I think it went well! Although I prepared for a lot of questions beforehand and practiced, and some of the questions they asked completely threw me off and I wasn't prepared for them. This was also my first school interview so I was freaking out a little. we will see what happens! Decisions are supposed to happen this Friday! I'm on the edge of my seat over here...don't wanna wait!

Ah, they caught me off guard with one of the questions during my interview as well. But they're very friendly, so I'm sure they took into account the fact that all the interviewees are nervous. I'm sure you'll be fine!! I just paid my deposit, so now I'm dying for school to start haha.

Did you use any resources online that helped you practice for the interview?:D

Anyone know if the admissions committee doesn't process your application while you have a pcat score waiting to be processed? I'm still waiting on my second PCAT score to be verified.

They do not. I had to wait for PharmCAS to receive and verify mine before they reviewed my app.

No they did not. But same day acceptances were given through a phone call
So some people that were accepted were called the same day as their interview? :)

Some people were accepted on the portal before we left the campus from the interview on October 30th.

Did any of them ever receive a call or an email I wonder? Obviously they knew because of the portal update, but I wonder if they were ever officially notified.

Some people were called the same day of the interview if their applications were extra stellar! I found out through the portal a week later, and received an official email maybe three days later.

So it turns out that I got put on the alternate list. Is that like a waiting list? Also, what do you prospect my chances are at this point. Any advice?

It is a waiting list. I'm not exactly sure, but I wouldn't lose hope yet! The Dean told us during his presentation that they do tend to pull a lot of people off of the alternate list as it gets closer to the start of school. This is because people tend to pay the deposit to save a spot, then drop it if they get into their first choice school. If you look in old threads, you'll see that people have gotten in from the waiting list right before school starts! Personally, I wouldn't want to bank on that. Just keep trying your best for other schools!

Dr. Dietrich did say that on average they pull about 80 people from the wait list, but that's an average (and we all know how reliable average's can be lol) and I'm sure it's unique to each year. Plus there's no way to know how many people are on the wait list. However, he did mention (like a previous poster) that they can pull people up to the day before classes start.

what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

I was waitlisted for an interview  I am not shocked, my GPA/PCAT score wasn't the best... Maybe I'll get lucky and score an interview later

Stay positive! I didn't even get wait listed after my interview..they said they are waiting for me to retake the pcat. I got accepted elsewhere though but I'm still going to retake it and see what happens.

what are your gpa/pcat stats if you dont mind me asking

any body knows what happens if you don't pay the deposit by the due date? Do they just automatically drop you? thanks!

I would imagine you forfeit your spot, but I'd call them to be sure.

The reason why you're asking is your business, but here are two situations and potential solutions I thought of.

1. If it's a matter of waiting for another school to respond that ranks higher than MWU for you, many people will pay the deposit to hold their spot and then withdraw if they're accepted elsewhere. If you've already interviewed somewhere and are waiting for a decision, I'd recommend calling them and explaining the situation.

2. If it's a financial matter where you don't have the deposit right now, or enough to make all of it by the deadline, call MWU and explain the situation. They might be willing to work with you.

Again, you don't have to explain, but wanted to share some more thoughts I had. Good luck.

thanks for your response xD I browsed through the old threads and learnt that they will give you a 2-week extension. I will call them tmr to ask for that. It's the first situation haha. A thousand bucks is a lot of money and its non-refundable. If I decided to not attend and the deposit could go to another student, I would pay for it but that's not the case so.. thanks again haha

That's understandable as it is a lot of money and I believe, at best, you would get $100 of it back if you withdrew within a month of paying the deposit? Don't quote me on that timeframe as I'm not sure I'm right but I know at best you can get $100 back which isn't much at all. Better than nothing of course, but not much. Almost half a PCAT now that I think about it! Lol

I called to ask about my admissions status after I didn't hear anything on the date that they told us we would be notified. They told me that they need to see my grades from this current semester before making a decision, so the quickest way to do that is to send my unofficial transcript by fax when the semester ends and they will decide during their next deliberation date after that. I'm a little upset and nervous...I'm thinking that it's because I had a couple classes that I retook for a better grade, and I am still finishing up all my science courses during this semester and next semester. Anyone else in the same boat?

I was told the same thing but I told them I had already finished my prerequisites prior to fall 2015, so they said they want me to retake the PCAT before making a decision.

I'm in the same boat but with other schools. My academical performance is not very impressive when you look at my grades from Summer 13' and back, currently I am taking upper division courses like Genetics and Molecular & Cellular Biology. A few schools are waiting to see what I am going to earn in these courses while two other schools have requested that I ask my professors to send the Admissions Committee a personalized progress report on how I'm currently doing.
But look on the bright side, at least we are not being flat out rejected.:laugh:

If you dont mind asking , did midwestern ask you to get such letter from professor?

Midwestern did not ask for that, but I will say this, I tried to ask another school who wanted to see my Fall grades if they would consider the progress report from my professors and they pretty much shot that idea down :whistle: So, what I am trying to say is, if they don't ask you for anything of that sort do not try to offer it to them.

Yeah when you said i was wondering if that even happens but you never know. Way back in 2012, i was helping my cousin in her application. She applied to university of pacific, she went through similar situation and they didn't consider her fall grades and she was rejected :/

There is still a good chance to get an invite if they're not flat out rejecting yah, so be positive and make sure you work as hard as you can to get the best grade possible and prove to them that you are capable of being in their program.:highfive:

I think they're pretty quick to respond. I was asked to make an account later that same day I got verified. They sent out an official interview invite email a couple days later.

If you don't have any PCAT score on file, you won't hear anything until they have that. That's what held mine up.

dang it, how long did you have to wait?

After I took the PCAT, my scores posted two or three weeks later (I think) on Pearson's site, were updated on PharmCAS two days after that, and MWU received them and added them to my applicant profile about a week later. I called them after it had been a week to make sure they had been received and they updated that afternoon. Later that same day I was invited to interview.

ohhh... Just called, they said they only download apps once a week. When i asked them about PCAT scores, they transferred me to their application specialist. I guess i will just have to wait on pharmcas to put those scores up and hopefully i hear from MWU.
