Midwestern-Illinois Class of 2029 Interview/Acceptance Thread

Im not sure what to expect anymore :/. Their group me has like 136 students, and assuming their average class size is around 140-145, maybe just this year the waitlists aren't as moving compared to previous. Realistically, it does suck but we can only prepare for the worst and prepare for the upcoming cycle. I really do wish they reached out to their interviewers quicker since we did spend alot of money to do their interviews, flights, and hotels. Im not saying all hope is lost, but honestly wishing the best for you guys. I am still on the waitlist since october. Just always hoping I get that call one day soon

If anyone from January or February has been accepted or anyone from waitlist, please let us know!

Anyone can join the group me. There’s a few current students in there and not everyone leaves the chat. I was told the committee has not released a decision yet when I called. She said she didn’t know when the committee would release them but that there were seats left and people can hear up to the week of classes. All we can do is be patient and prepare for the worst

Do they have a deadline to get back to interviewers with a decisions for atleast a waitlist or rejection? Or can they just be mia all the way until the first week?

I believe most schools are finalizing their enrollment, and any open spots will likely be filled from the waitlist or strong applicants. The school controls the timeline for decisions. I'm using this time to prepare for the next application cycle and keep my options open. Each school has its own rules, and to be honest, the chances of acceptance are lower at this time of year compared to before December. If schools are offering several interviews, it often means they are also promoting master's degrees or other medical fields, such as physical therapy, and etc. This is a good time to talk to an admissions counselor and seek guidance on how to improve your application. If you believe you are a strong candidate, consider applying again, but make sure you meet each school's criteria. This is my second application cycle, and I understand how challenging it can be. Do not give up, and stay optimistic!

does anyone get ever rejected from MWU -IL, or do people that interview that aren't accepted, just get immediately put on the waitlist. I haven't really seen people who interviewed talk about if they got rejected or not. Just want to get a feel of how many people are actually on the waitlist

I believe everyone is put on the waitlist who weren't accepted on decision day, or candidates who interviewed after decision day and weren't accepted, and they pull from there as the accepted candidates decline their seat. No idea how they determine who comes off the wait list first. Hope this helps!

Great question! I’d love to see stats of how many they waitlist and what percentage are actually offered seats. My guess is it’s very low which is frustrating as someone who is waiting

It doesn't make any sense to me why they would be pulling from the waitlist when they haven't got back to 3 independent rounds/weeks worth of interviews. So weird.

None of it makes sense. How about the fact that they have people on waitlists from December and they are still interviewing? I bet there are several hundred sitting idol on their waitlist with very small chance of getting in. Why keep interviewing? Students spend so much money on travel to go to an interview. And we all jump at the chance because we so desperately want to be a dentist, but it feels wrong to me on so many levels that they make these lists. It’s obvious, based on prior years that they don’t exhaust their waitlist.

Interviewed Feb 18th and just got put on the alternative list this morning

Interviewed first week of Feb, waitlist this morning. Has anyone that's been waiting not heard anything still?

Ive been waitlisted since decision day (december 13th I believe), till this day I have not heard anything from them.

Interviewed feb 4th. Placed on alternate list as well 🙁 it seems like everyone was waitlisted. Has anyone been accepted recently or heard of anyone being accepted recently? It’d be really helpful to know

I haven’t seen anyone that has gotten accepted in quite a while. At least no one that’s posted on here or Reddit.

Yeah, i think they waitlisted everyone lmfao. We all waited forever just to wait again

Does this mean the cycle is over if everyone just got waitlisted? Or is there still acceptances being sent out? Also approximately how many seats are left?
No one knows… pretty much over though. Small chance of getting in.

This cycle has been so weird, compared to the last years this year has not seen much movement and it’s disheartening but I really think they just waitlisted applicants instead of rejecting. I could be entirely wrong but that’s just how I feel.

They used to reject people before, plenty of people. Now I see people on waitlists!

Keep in mind this is a big business. It brings hundred of thousand of revenue to the school. The system is very wrong of them doing that. Imagine the reverse if they will have to pay for your expenses. You will see they are not going to do that. This had to STOP

does anyone know how big the facebook group/group me is atp

Did anyone from January / February / March interviews hear anything???

Is it safe to assume that there has been minimal to no movement since acceptance day?

The groupme already has 140+ members already, it is pretty much over now. I'm just waiting on my rejection letter at this point because I didn't even get an interview.

Has anyone been rejected since being put on the alternate list?

Is it safe to say that the class size is full? im already preparing for the next cycle but what a shame :/
