When are we supposed to get our financial aid packages?

I received mine this morning. But it might be because I go to Mizzou undergrad because I got an email that directed me to the system we use for registration, billing, etc. (MyZou) to check it out.

And let me tell you... it was loans, loans, loans for me.

So... is it true the waitlist didn't move at all this last Thursday?

I called thursday they said 9.
I called friday they said 14.

so either someone was wrong or a lot of people called friday

I'm surprised(and very very glad) they didn't say to call back next thursday -- I know some other schools have been very strict with their rule for calling.

So should we start guessing where it will be this Thursday? I am betting(or hoping anyway) 20? Any takers?

Taken. I think it will be 22.

Sending in my withdrawal today, so that'll move it one more. Good luck to everyone! BTW, hardest decision ever... mizzou is a rockin school!

Did you get into Hopkins?? If so, congrats.

LOL. I wish. Nope, I won't hear from them until after May 15th, if I hear from them at all. I am going to go to University of Maryland. Which, given my OOS status might be a horrible decision. I'm actually pretty torn over it. In state tuition vs. my hatred for PBL? UGH!

Well congrats either way...although I hope Hopkins pulls through for ya:luck:.

I'll see your 22 and raise you to 24. I think it will move 10 spots this week.
Dear Lord I hope you're right. :hardy:

I leave tomorrow after work for a conference at the Lake from Wed-Fri. Fingers crossed all over the place that my cell works down there, both for calls and possible emails..... What a week to be without my computer. :scared:

(OTOH, about 4 of my friends are going to the same conference, so it could be a rockin' good time if you ARE right!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 )

Phone call acceptance while on vacation would be one great story!

anyone feel like calling tomorrow to see how many more acceptances this past week?
let us know how it goes...

Okay, so I got excited for you guys and called... they are on 20!

:luck::luck::luck:

Awesome! As great as it would to be classmates with you.... im really hoping I am not!

Let us know when Rochester finally gets around to calling you (and you open up at least one more waitlist spot).... Best of luck

haha I know! I woke up to a phone call this morning that was from an unknown number and I almost had a heart attack... wrong number though 🙄

Even though I'd love being at Mizzou, I hope I give my spot away!

That was really nice of you. Would be great to be classmates with someone kind enough to call -- but I hope you go to Rochester so I can go to Mizzou 😛 Then everyone would be happy, right? 🙂

I received my fianancial aid package list about a week and a half ago and was wondering a couple of questions.

It basically consists of 3 things, 2 loans and 1 small grant. The letter said to accept this within 30 days or risk losing them (don't know how serious they are on that). If i can get the MyZou system working, I plan on doing that this weekend.

My concern is, I am still hoping Wash U takes me off the waitlist, if by some miracle that does happen, is there anything special I need to do in regards to my financial aid package? Will they just undo everything they've done as soon as I call the admissions office and say "thanks but I will not attend"?

I don't really want to call and ask on such a hypothetical because I'd rather not offend them for no reason.

Yup.

Maybe we could have just switched. But for real, WashU is a great school. Best of luck.

Also, it takes until around June for the government to approve all those loans. So I think you still have some time.

Probably the happiest thing ever!

I figured I would call them so I could live vicariously through your guys waitlist in attempts to not think of my own 🙄

A friend of mine called about 3pm and they were still at 20.

Good luck all.

Well, I guessed we'd be at 24 so that makes me a looser in the "May 15, 2008 Waitlist Movement Contest". 🙁

Today is a big milestone and now the ripple effect takes hold.

How much time are they giving people off the waitlist to make a decision? Prior to May 15th AMCAS requires the schools give applicants a minimum of 2 weeks to respond. After May 15th the school can set its own requirement for an answer. Just curious.

Good luck Mizzou hopefuls! :luck:

I just talked to Pingouin. They called her @ 8:30 tonight!

She's going to Mizzou!!!

:clap::clap::clap::banana::banana::banana::zip:

BTW. she was #23 on the waitlist so you were right, they're on #24 at least.

So that means I'm a winner!! It feels every bit as great as I thought it would. First let me thank my mother for raising me right. And my father for warming my backside enough to keep my ears open for my mother's instruction. And to all the little people, I'm sorry I've forgotten all your names, that have supported me through the years. And finally to my fans. I couldn't have done it with out you!

Oh, and congrats to that Pingouin person for her acceptance. 😉 😛

ALRIGHT!
Congrats to Pingouin!

Now lets play another game since I am the next SDNer hoping for mizzou
Two part question
1. Will they get to number 32?
2. What day will they get to number 32?

Thanks for playing!

Of course they will! I talked to my best friend tonight and she got the call at 845... she was number 28! You're so close!!

Pingouin!!! :hardy::hardy:

AWESOME NEWS GUYS

cant explain how excited I am getting.

So I guess her cell phone reception was good at the conference. I'm sure you will read this later on, but CONGRATS Pingouin.

Thanks, guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hardy: :hardy:

Sooooooooooooo excited! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!

And actually, my phone was NOT working depending on which conference room I was in (or in the parking garage, or where they served us breakfast and lunch...). But T-Mobile definitely does have service at the Vista Grande Mexican Restaurant directly across 54 from the outlet mall. Just FYI. 😀

Congrats to everyone else who must have gotten in yesterday- mongrel was 26, I think, so he should have gotten a call as well!

After last week's excitement, it seems all is quiet on the Mizzou front this week so far. Any updates?

i was told they got to 29 last week

The waitlist offers from the May 15th fallout still have a few days to think it over before they have to decide. There's plenty of room for movement. Plus it's still 10 weeks until orientation so don't stress just yet. :luck:

That is a great point.

Hey Pinguoin, what did Ms. Easton say when she called you? Any deadline by which you had to "decide"

Well, she knew I had another acceptance, but I told her on the phone my mind was made up and I was going to drop that one. I asked how long I had to notify them, and said "If I do it by Monday will that be OK?" and she said yes. (I did it on Friday via phone, followed by email when I got home from my conference.)

The thing to remember is that some other wait lists may not move quite as quickly because of over-acceptances and whittling down what they have to get to the actual class size, THEN going to the wait list. It could take a while for Mizzou acceptees on other wait lists to get a decision...

so apparently they are at least to number 32... at least thats what Ms. Easton told me when she just called me to accept me......

see you in July

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!! :hardy::hardy::hardy::hardy:

congrats, bep!!

lacrosse- any news on Rochester? is their wait list ranked at all?

No news as of yet... Apparently its not ranked, but I think there is some type of internal ranking. The dean told me about 1.5 months back that I was high on their list and he hoped an offer was forthcoming, but who knows. Maybe their class is holding well... I've only seen one person say anything about a WL acceptance.

So for now, I'm w/ you guys!

Oh, and on a side note... mongrel is #33... wonder if he's gotten good news since bep was 32!

Congrats!! Why do I get the feeling you are out celebrating right now 🙂

I wonder if Mongrel got in too.

Does anyone know if the movement into the 30s just 5 days after May 15th is normal? Maybe I will ask when I call this thursday if no one else has heard.

I think so... I remember seeing on last year's WL thread that #26 came off on 5/18, so it's somewhat similar.

Are you getting close?

I think that's what I was thinking of when I said mongrel was 26.. I got my SDN members confuzicled. BAD moderator! BAD! :meanie:

Yup, I got the call for spot #33 on Tuesday afternoon! I was heading out of the Black Hills region of South Dakota and had JUST gotten cell reception back (after not having it for ~4 days) when Ms. Easton called. I was definitely surprised.

WOOO HOOO!!!! 😀 Good luck to everyone else still waiting. It looks like the waitlist is making biiigggg jumps now.

Yeah mongrel! So are you dropping SLU in favor of Mizzou?

Wonder what happened w/ the other 3 on our interview day...
