Does anyone know if TWU will be delayed in the start date due to COVID-19? The program is supposed to start June 1, but I am curious if it will be postponed!

I emailed them in regards to this a couple of days ago and the OT admissions director said that the program will for sure start June 1st, they just can’t make a call this far out if it will be face-to-face or online.

Haven’t heard of anything as of lately. I’m starting to think it might be filled up by now. I just got off the waitlist/got accepted for UTEP, and have yet to hear back from TWU Houston about movement of the waitlist. It seems a majority of Texas schools have sent out their acceptances

I emailed UTMB the other day and this is what they said. "Thank you for your continued interested in the Occupational Therapy program. At this time all positions are filled, once a position becomes available I will contact via OTCAS the next person on the waitlist. Potential waitlist applicants can be pulled off up until the week of orientation."

Hey guys,

I recently got moved off the waitlist for UTEP and accepted their offer. I got accepted to one other program and have yet to hear from one more (kind of late though IMO). If any of you have been waitlisted... don’t fret! I heard back within four days of telling them I wanted to be on their list, so good things do happen!!

They are still working their way through the waitlist at Texas Tech. Received an email Tuesday asking if I was still interested and that they would send a formal admissions offer sometime this next week!

It is discouraging, but I wouldn't lose hope. I remember a current OT student at the OT interview at TWU telling me that she got accepted a week before the program began. Anything could happen in a month, stay strong 🙂
 
Anyone on here know any current students at Texas Tech who'd be willing to chat about the program? Or anyone beginning the OTD program this month? I was just offered a spot today. Thanks in advance!

Received an email of declination from TWU today, I’m disappointed and a bit frustrated but I know I have room to improve.

Good luck to everyone still waiting on a response and good luck to those who have been admitted into this cohort, I hope OT school is everything you hoped for it to be 🙂
 
If I retake classes that I made a B/B- in, do they take the highest grade or avg it out? I’m just wondering if it’s worth to retake the classes. I’d be retaking it at a community college instead of a university though.

I’ve been thinking to do the same. from my understanding I think school average out the grades, but don’t quote me on it.

I know OTCAS averages everything you take, even new classes. But I believe most will take the new grade in the re-take of the class. I

You might want to check if they take the new grade that way. I thought that if you wanted to retake, it had to be from the same university you took it the first time. I don’t remember where I heard that from; it may not be true but just check to be safe!

I saw some people on TWU waitlist got declinations on May 7th.
I didn’t receive one & have yet to hear anything..is anyone else still on the waitlist and also didn’t receive a declination?

It is definitely worth it! I actually retook all my classes through a CC in addition to taking extra classes to boost my GPA 🙂 it does show that you are persistent and want to achieve a better grade! It also depends on the school for averaging out grades so I would recommend reaching out to them.

Does it matter if I’m taking it at 2 different colleges? I signed up for classes this summer. Probably will retake classes not needed to for OT to up my GPA!

From my experience, it shouldn't matter if you take the courses at different CCs + the only time it might remotely matter is Anatomy & Physiology, which is split into 2 courses. Some schools want you to have both A&P 1 & 2 taken at the same school, but not all schools require that they do - so I would ask the admissions offices just in case if you're unsure.

But for other prerequisites, as long as you have an undergraduate degree in place, any subsequent coursework retaken could be from different schools (that is what I did - retook all my prerequisites at 5 different schools).
