I'm sure a few of you have experience doing pain procedures with a motorized c-arm. How is it? Worth the expense, presuming you don't need an RT or staff member operating the c-arm? How much to the disposable sterile covers for the controls cost?

Come visit some time and I'll show you.

I use one at a hospital but it's usually operated by a tech. I sometimes get things started. I prefer a manual but, now that you mention using it without a tech, I think it would be worth it, considering the cost of employing someone.

The one I use is wall mounted. It's pretty new and fancy Philips. I'd avoid wall mounted because then you have to lead line the room i think.

I used one for 6 years at the VA. They bought me a $150k motorized OEC 9900. I also had a 60k float table. They accidentally bought two so I had two; one just sat upstairs in the attic accumulating dust (typical gov’t waste)

Anyway, it worked pretty well. As good as a good rad tech. Much better than a bad rad tech but not quite as efficient as a super rad tech.

Overall I really liked it. No idea what the disposable covers cost. I’m sure the VA was paying a premium rate
