MPH 2019: Applied, Waitlisted, Accepted!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats! When did you submit your application and when did they tell you that it had been sent to the department for review?

Thank you! Here’s my timeline:
Submitted to SOPHAS and verified on 12/21
Received confirmation email and OPUS instructions on 1/3

I don’t think I ever got an email saying my application was forwarded to the department, but I noticed my application status changed from “incomplete” to “under review” on 1/4 or 1/5

I also got an email on 1/7 saying they received my financial aid application.

I’m sure you’ll be hearing back soon, and I hope it’s good news! I just received an email from the epi department about my acceptance, FYI.

Congrats!!! When did they receive your application? Trying to see if they're running a little behind or fast etc.
Thank you! I submitted to SOPHAS on 12/29
Got a mail that they received my application on 1/2
Acceptance mail on 1/8 , which was pretty quick !

For an international student to look for financial aid at Emory, are there any prerequisites? I don’t know about any fin aid form other than FAFSA and I am automatically ineligible for that.

You could always call or email the school to find out but what I do know is that if you applied by the January 5th deadline (except the executive program deadline is March 15) you are automatically considered for scholarships and funding

Thanks! :)
Yeah, I emailed and they said exactly what you mentioned. Application by deadline is an automatic consideration for scholarship. They also shared this link in the email,

Yes, I heard back on 12/12 after applying in October. I think they may be a little slow right now because of the holiday break. Best of luck!!

Yes! Once you get your Gibson Portal, there will be a Financial Aid Addendum you will need to complete in addition to FAFSA. My finaid adviser mentioned that Public Health students typically start getting funding in March.

Had a mini heart attack from Berkeley's email after seeing the pop-up notification on my phone.

Buuuuuut for anyone who might not have gotten the email yet, it goes on to say that reviewers will start meeting in the next few weeks and hope to get decisions out via email in mid-February to early-March. Keep an eye out in case anyone (faculty or staff) reach out to you for questions!

Congrats! I’m hoping that they’re just delayed because of the holidays...

Can I ask what other programs you’re applying to for Health Policy/HPM?

Thanks and best of luck to you also!

Sure! I actually posted my stats like a page or 2 pages back but I applied to Health Policy programs at BU, NYU, GW, Emory, UCLA, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins. I did International Health and Development at Tulane.

For anyone frustrated with the timeline (or lack thereof) from Boston University's public health admissions department, it's potentially because a lot of their admissions department left around the summer/fall. One of the assistant directors of admissions told me at a grad fair that they will be behind and off their timeline from last year because of this. So if you haven't heard back, have faith!

Edit: Sorry for those confused, the faculty didn't leave, just some of the PH admissions folks.

My application was routed and verified on 12/7 and I heard back from Emory on 12/17 (I think!). Like others said, the holidays throws the timeline off a bit. Best of luck!

Just checked OPUS and it says I got admitted to Emory for MPH in GLEPI! My admission letter isn’t available yet and I haven’t received official notice but yay (I think?)! This is the only school I’ve gotten any decision from and ironically is also the most recent program I’ve applied to.
Wow congratulations! have you shared your stats on this page? I was verified for Emory-GLEPI on 1/5 and I'm anxiously awaited for a decision

Dear friends

Is there anyone who has applied to Vanderbilt MPH? I submitted and became verified 13 days ago, but I've not received any email from them to be sure of their reception, is this routine?
Hey! I submitted mine today and was verified a few hours ago. I applied for the Epi track and they told me they would let me know of their decision no later than 2/28! If you applied for a different track, I would reach out to the point of contact that told you of your verification. They've responded to any email I've sent that same day so I'm sure you would know asap!!

Thanks for your response, I’ve applied in Epi Track just like you, and I received the same email few hours ago. Do you have any idea/stats regarding vanderbilt scholarships?

Hi, I was just wondering when you had applied. The wait to hear back is stressing me out :(

Hi! I submitted my app on SOPHAS on 11/19 and the supplemental one on 11/28.

I'm right there with you on the stress! Still waiting to hear back from Emory even though so many people on here have heard back already. I try not to read too much into it, but it's hard not to.

Best of luck to you! Hope you hear back soon :xf:

Dear guys

Regarding the Johns Hopkins scholarship for 2nd year masters students, do you have any stats regarding the percent of students who can achieve a GPA>3 in their first year to become eligible for this scholarship? How much difficult is this requirement?

I received an email this morning around 10 am.

Congratulations! I’m not so familiar w combined PhD programs, BUT I think your stats are solid and you have relevant experience. Hopefully it’ll help you did undergrad at a very well known school of public health as well!

Congrats! When did you submit if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you :) I submitted on 8/27 and was verified on 9/16. This was unexpected seeing as the last thread heard back around February.

Congrats! I'm finishing up my MPH at Brown this semester. Lmk if you have any questions.

This year, Brown SPH made some major changes to admission. The staff, website, etc. are all new. I think they've been very positive changes. Just wanted to say something in case others are looking at past years' stuff about Brown. This year will be different!
