MPH 2019: Applied, Waitlisted, Accepted!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Got into Brown!
Funding was mentioned in the email but haven't received details of that just yet.

Just got accepted to Tufts and Brown. Brown mentioned aid but didn't go into specifics!

Congrats to you both! What exactly is Brown saying about aid? I haven't heard back yet but I'm interested to know if they're saying "you qualify for aid since you applied before the deadline" or whether they're saying "you have gotten aid, we will let you know how much soon"?

The past several years, scholarship mention in the acceptance letter meant a 25% tuition reduction merit scholarship for most people. But like I said, things with admissions have changed a bit, so it's possible funding for MPH students has also changed.

Thank you! The letter said "pleased to tell you that you've been awarded financial support", it goes on to say that the specific program will send further details later on.

Thanks for the heads up!

Congrats on Penn! Did you have to interview?

Would you be able to tell me a little bit about UofM's facilities? Are the public health buildings nice?

I wouldn't be worried about applying straight out of undergrad. If you got into both UofM and Emory, I would think you will be fine!

They are super nice! There are two PH buildings and a few classrooms that the majority of classes are in. I luckily live in the neighborhood nearby so it is only about an 8 minute walk to the buildings from my house. The faculty are incredible and I have nothing but nice things to say about them.

has anyone heard of anything about LSU epi? Haven't seen much on this thread or last year's but thought might be worth a shot to ask.

I received a mail today from Yale saying I need to take a video assessment with few questions of 3-5 min each. What is it about? Did anyone who applied to Yale get a similar mail? Please help!
Hi, I received the same mail too. Did you complete your assessment ?

Accepted to Emory MSPH Epi and Hopkins MHS Epi

Does anyone know how robust Columbia's IPHAN is these days? Website doesn't seem to have been updated since spring.

That’s awesome!! Congrats!! Can I ask what were your stats/when did it get verified in SOPHAS?

Hello! Interesting about your Yale video questions assessment. May I ask if your application was marked complete by Yale? Mine was a couple of weeks ago but I have not received the video questions (yet)....

For folks who got the video questions from Yale, do you mind specifying which department you applied to? I applied for SBS and have not received them....

I submitted my application on 28th November and was marked completed on 16th December

Do the Yale videos have a due date on them? My mailing address is my school mailbox and I am still on winter break (and starting to panic).
The mail said to finish the process by Feb 1st. So you have some time. All the best !

I am pretty anxious about my UNC-chapel hill ( applied epi) decision. Any idea if I stand a chance ?

Hi
I’m an international medical graduate, and I have applied to this program of UNC, and I’ve not received any email email except automatic ones just after submitting my application and supplemental application. Have you received more emails from them? Our stats are almost similar and I hope both of us be accepted at UNC-Applied Epi If you have any cobcern or toughts to share with me, do not hesitate to message me.

I applied for health policy and haven’t received one. Based on the responses here I’m starting to think it’s specifically for EPI

Do the Yale videos have a due date on them? My mailing address is my school mailbox and I am still on winter break (and starting to panic).
I think this is a language issue. I would be very surprised if Yale, in 2019, sent video Qs through the mail rather than email

I have applied to Yale chronic disease Epi MS program, and did not receive this email :-?

You have got awesome quant score. And yeah, I haven't received any mail as of now but I heard they would give the decisions this week.

Just got word that the Brown scholarship is indeed 25% tuition. I'm happy but hopefully there are assistanceships etc available as well because the program is still over 65k even with scholarship

Hey guys

Let’s become more active here 🙂 we are in the peak of admission season. If you take a look at 2018 mph thread, until this date (14th Jan) there were more than 1000 messages, versus our 750! what do you think as the cause of this declining? Through 2013 to 2018, every thread was flourishing more and more except this year. Can it be a sign of decreasing in applicants number or interest in public health programs? Or it's meaningless and I’m misinterpreting it :-?

Has anyone done the virtual interview for WashU's merit scholarships?

When did the thread start last year?

And maybe because most are still waiting back hear admission decisions from programs/ have not applied yet?

2018 thread had been started in August and 2019 in July.
Do you mean that the universities are releasing their acceptances later in comparison to 2018? It doesn't seem so.
I think that maybe the most important reason has to do with some highly-active members in 2018.

That's a good observation. I recently came across this forum which has helped me a lot so I hope that it continues to do so in the future for others who will be going through the same process.

I applied to Emory for BSHE and my application was routed on 12/21. I've been trying to not flood the forum with posts of anxiety as I wait to hear back

I’m sorry I don’t mean to make you nervous, I was taking a guess but I have no familiarity with their process!

I wouldn't say this necessarily correlates with declining interest/applicants; in fact, I feel like public health is peaking more and more! Rather, I think it goes along with what has already been mentioned in that past threads had VERY avid members/posters! Here's to OUR exciting app cycle and little community! I feel like posts will be occuring more frequently given we are getting closer to hearing back from more schools, open houses, and decision debates!!

Accepted to UNC MPH in health behavior (1/7) and U Michigan MPH in environmental health promotion and policy (1/11) 🙂
Congrats! When did you apply/when were you verified for UNC? I've been anxiously refreshing my email for what is starting to feel like forever.

Completely agree, decisions and debates are coming 🙂 I wish we could do a teamwork and extracting an excel file for dates of acceptance and scholarships at least for top 20 SPHs. I have read almost twice the 2017-2018 thread, but still I’m checking my Gmail every 15 minutes, this thread every hour, and portals every day :O

Thank you! I applied on 11/29, and I believe I was verified that same day. I’m sure you will hear back soon! Hang in there, and best of luck!!

I totally understand! I'm doing the same thing! I've scoured through the previous forums to try to find trends for when schools came out with acceptances, but even then, struggled to find acceptances posted for my specific departments at some schools. I really wish schools could be more transparent but I guess it's part of the thrill!

I feel like MOST acceptances came out late Jan-early/mid Feb. Definitely hoping to hear back (hopefully good news) within the next 2 weeks from at least one school!
