MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok don't want to spam this forum but just emailed Columbia about the admissions timeline. Told them I applied on the 27th and received a generic reply that "we are anticipating on releasing admissions decisions within the next few days." As much as possible I'm going to visit the forum less until I actually get an email. In the meantime, all the best!

I woke up today to some great news. I got into the Global Health program at UW. That makes my last acceptance. I am very humbled!
congrats !! which program are you inclined to attend ?? what factors are you considering in order to make a decision?

Hi guys. Did anyone get accepted into Yale accelerated program for Advanced professional mph in Applied bio and epi ? What are your thoughts about Yale when compared to JHU schoolwide and Harvard mph 45 . How are you approaching to rank it ? Thanks for your thoughts. I am just trying to figure out how to make a proper decision and torn between rankings and the class sizes and the brand names and financial aid. LOL. Any advice might help. Thanks in advance.

Just did about 30 min ago, they said that I should receive a decision by the end of February at the latest but it could be earlier than that. So I guess just checking my email every day for the next month now? Hopefully it will all be worth it!
thanks for the update, hopefully soon 🙂

Congratulations to everyone who has received acceptances in the last few weeks! What an exciting time. For those of you who applied to UNC Gillings, about how many weeks did it take to receive your decision from the time that materials were received? Thanks in advance.

I've been considering retaking the GRE...
I was already accepted to 5/9 schools and I haven't heard back from my final 4. I only took it once and I know I could get a better score. do you think this would help my chances with scholarships?
Admissions from one school contacted me and requested I retake it for a higher quant score. Is this worth it? will 5-10 questions change me as an applicant?

Which school requested you retake it?

Submitted 11/24/19 and heard back 12/13/19, so like 3 weeks!

If I haven't heard from Dartmouth about an interview yet, should I assume a rejection at this point? They're releasing decisions on Feb 1.

I know there aren't many, but for anyone who applied to Dartmouth- I was just told that decisions for MPH are being released tomorrow!

I literally JUST got off the phone with admissions and I know that if you have had an interview, decisions are being released tomorrow. I'm not sure if that's the case for if you haven't, but they're incredibly kind if you call and ask!

Thanks so much! I'll give them a call.

Rejections are tough, but you’re tougher. I know it’s hard, but try not to let it get you down too much. It’s Yale, after all. No shame in trying! I’m just waiting for my inevitable rejection from Harvard too. Lol
thank you for those kind words! It's so nice to be in this supportive community! I hope you get good news from Harvard, fingers crossed!

I’m still waiting on UNC too..very impatiently! I applied 12/2 for the supplemental application — when did you?

Has anyone admitted to GWU around Jan 9 heard on scholarships? The admissions office said follow ups would be within 3 weeks and to check with financial aid directly, but heard back from that team at all..

I'm also still waiting to hear from UNC for epi ! I submitted all of my things on 10/7

I have a low GRE verbal score and I was definitely thinking of retaking my GRE exam. The percentile changes with every point! For example, 4.5/6.0 in AWA section is the 88th percentile while 4.0/6.0 is 57th percentile.

if you did not get admission into the program of your choice I would suggest retaking the GRE if you have the time and money!

argh why are they taking so loooong! I know Feb 1st is like the official deadline so this is a high volume time but it's also rolling admissions so...:/

*fingers crossed for us all that we'll here back soon* I applied for EQUITY!

I'm posting this now because I'm still in shock and humbled that I got into Columbia -- I got V: 155 Q: 147 (around 20 something percentile, big yikes I know) AW: 4.5 -- I agree w/mdtrisha, I'd only retake it if you have the time/money/can also really improve your score and didn't get into your school of choice. I couldn't afford to do it again so I left it as is and so far I'm 2 for 4 and waiting!

I am looking forward to my Harvard reject email too! I’m so confident about it too.

I applied 11/30 and submitted my supplemental application 12/2, and I heard back last week. Good luck!

Definitely email financial aid! They said they sent my letter after I emailed them but it didn't go through so they had to resend it, and I got it the next day. Their office is super responsive though, when I first emailed them I got a response within 7 minutes.

I'm pretty sure UNC strongly recommends 50th percentile in the GRE across all sections for admission to the graduate school; The EQUITY program doesn't look at GREs but you have to meet the 50th percentile threshold.

I've already done my research and spoken to people at UNC about it already so I'm not stressed about it - whatever happens, happens! Just simply hoping for the best like anyone else.

Makes sense! That is just what I heard when I talked to someone at the EQUITY program but maybe it's not as strict of a requirement as she made it sound.

Newbie here, thought I'd join the convo instead of lurking i just want decisions out so I can start planning my next few months transition out of work lol..

Is the status option how everyone is putting Info in signatures?

Is anyone still waiting on GW? I received the application in review email on 12/20, that will be 6 weeks tomorrow and I'm getting antsy....

For everyone who has received their Yale decisions today, when did you submit the application? I submitted mine right on 12/15 so I’m unsure if I should relax and wait a few days or be on the lookout.

Shoot them a message via. their chat option. I did that and they sent me an update within 2-3 minutes haha.

I submitted on 11/20, verified on 12/2 and on 12/5 I was told my application was sent for review. Someone who applied to my same concentration 2 days earlier than me got their acceptance 3 weeks ago, so I think a few days can make a big difference in turnaround time. Good luck to you!
