So exciting! Congrats to you. Also, same question, did you have an interview?

Edit: Wow, you're fast. Thanks for answering above!

Thank you! I'm excited about this acceptance!

No, I did not receive an interview. I am surprised because I had lost a little hope after hearing other people had gone through interviews already.

Also got into Columbia today 🙂 MPH in Epidemiology with Global Health certificate -- applied 12/4

I got in too! MPH in Environmental Health Sciences with a certificate in Global Health! I'm freaking out! that's 2 for 2 officially, with an unofficial acceptance from UNC! Eeeek! Hoping for some good financial aid packages to come

For those accepted at Columbia with the global health certificate- does it say you were specifically accepted to the GH certificate in your acceptance letter?

Yeah, they specify the certificate in the email

I would email them a short paragraph about why UW is your first choice and ask if there is any further information you can send them. Alternatively, you could call them as well. It may bump you to the top of the waitlist...at the very least, it couldn't hurt!

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely try it!

Columbia peeps: http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/students/financial-aid/tuition-and-fees-mph-students

Am I reading this wrong, or for global health, is our tuition only $17,000 a year? Can that really be right?

Um...yea I think it is $17,000 lol but best way to check is to call!! Then again it'd be another $20,000 to live in Manhattan 🙁 ....then again do you have to go abroad for the program? Maybe that's why they lowered it.

Edit: looking at it again. I think it might be $35,000+17,000? 😳 hope not

oh wow - got really excited for a second thinking it was only 17K :S - don't want to get my hopes up though - anyone want to clarify/confirm this? (cuz for the 2013-2014 year, it says 44K)

I don't like it but I believe it....undergraduate schools in Boston can be about that much, and if I'm not mistaken, Manhattan is still way more expensive :/

Having lived in both Boston and NYC - both are expensive. NYC housing and transport are a little more but food costs are relatively the same. Plus, Boston schools (BU especially) are in high rent areas where as Columbia is in one of the lowest rent areas of Manhattan.

Wow..a lot of acceptances from Columbia (congrats to everyone who got in), makes me kinda panicky cuz I haven't received my decision. So I am assuming that everyone who has received their decision applied in either November or December?

I sent my application on the last day (i.e. 15th Jan), so maybe my decision is going to be late...right?? :depressed:

From what I read last year, they send out their acceptances in two waves. One mid February and another in early march. So there should definitely be more acceptances coming!

I might be totally off here, but I think that is the old info for the class of 2015 (last year's round of apps). It shows only $23,000 for the health policy and comparative effectiveness cert and those two certificates are 3 semesters in length, hence the cheap tuition for 2014. Might be the same case for glob health?

So I think these numbers show the entire cost of tuition for the class of 2015... I think?

I just looked it over again, and I think I've figured it out. The first year of the program is $44,000, but since we would be abroad fall of our second year, we only have to pay half the tuition, i.e. $17,130

Bummer though, I would have loved to only pay $17,130 a year!

Applied: USF, Columbia, Yale, Harvard

Accepted: USF, Yale MPH Program in Applied Biostatistics & Epidemiology

Denied: Columbia

Pending: Harvard

Did anyone apply for the MMI ScM or MHS at JHSPH?

Or, if you applied for anything at JHSPH, does the status of your app change from "Ready for processing" to something about going to the department for review, before the final decision is posted?

Me too, I applied Nov 29 but have not heard anything, I think its worth to consider of course, however it depend on how many offers for you. I think Minnesota is good except its too cold there 🙂))

ohh.. All the Best..
I am not sure if they offer scholarships or assistantships.. I am ok with cold..Until opportunities after the course are good.. !! I am still inquiring about university's networks.. I have offer from Boston Uni, Uni of pittsburgh and washington uni of st Louis..

I sent my app in Nov and I haven't received a decision 🙁 Also, someone that posted their acceptance said they did not get their app turned in until January. Good luck!

Accepted to Columbia yesterday, HPM, Child Youth and Family Health Cert- No interview, applied in December! Congrats to those who got in too and good luck to those still waiting!

😕 Well I guess then they must be sending out these decisions based on the department. I applied for the accelerated option in the department of 'Population and Family Health'. At this point all we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed. 🙂

Got MSPH for Health, Behavior, and Society at Johns Hopkins this morning and that concludes all the programs I've applied to!! 🙂 Good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to everyone who has heard back from their schools!

In at Columbia for Epi with Applied Biostats Certificate! Now if only my top choice, Berkeley, would get back to me....

Congratulations!! I'm in the same boat! :highfive: I think we have very similar goals 🙂, although it looks like you may be specializing in chronic disease? Hoping for the best for you! Can't wait to hear back from Berkeley-

As we're getting and making our decisions, don't forget to update your original posts because I think it'll be helpful for people next year to browse through the stats easier without having to read every single posts in this forum!
