MPH Fall 2014: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What concentrations did those of you waiting to hear from Berkeley apply to? I applied to HSB. Back in Jan, the coordinator said the decisions would be going out this month.

I also applied to SF State, but that was only a month ago so I don't expect to hear back for a few weeks or so. Will probably also apply to San Jose State (Apr 1 deadline).

Hey.. got acceptance for MPH from Johns Hopkins!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 Somebody who has received the acceptance and is considering the University strongly??????????

Hey congrats! When did you hear back?

Rejected by HSPH for MPH in HPM 🙁 That was my top choice. So now it looks like I'll be accepting the MPH/MBA offer from Hopkins.

Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts. In all probability, decisions from Harvard and Columbia are going to start pouring in today (any second now). 😛

(ugh..I'm a bit panicky now 🙁)
I think they played us. They knew we thought a flood of decisions was coming and decided to hold on to them.,,

That's a bummer, but congrats on Hopkins! MPH/MBA will give you lots of important skills.

Anyone hear anything from UNC at Chapel Hill? I applied to their MPH-RD Residential program and when I called them on Monday (2/24) they said they were sending out decisions by the end of the day but I still haven't heard anything... :lame:

Hey, when did you get your decision email? I'm quite surprised that they are sending out mails even on a Saturday. BTW, are you from India as well?

By any chance, has anyone who applied heard back from University of Miami MPH program?

By any chance, has anyone who applied heard back from University of Miami MPH program?

I was accepted a little over two weeks ago via email. It took about 6 weeks from receipt of my application to hear back. Hope that helps!

Thank you & congrats!!

Let me know if you consider attending their program. I am very torn between several schools right now and could use any advice/comments to help me make my decision. Best of luck to you!

When did you hear back from Harvard?

Yesterday. Although the person at the admissions office front office specifically said I won't hear back until next week when I called them earlier yesterday. :/

I'm not certain that I would be attending if accepted, because I got into my top choice (which is just so expensive), but I can tell you that as a native Miamian, you will like the city. I've heard good things about the program. In Miami, the top university to many is UM. I don't know many specifics about the public health program though....so if they have an admitted students day, I'd recommend coming and enjoying the beach while you're at it! If you have any questions about Miami, feel free to ask me. 🙂

I should also add that if you are interested in working internationally, I believe UM offers you great opportunities.

Hey Irikahsa,
When/How did you find out about your merit award from Columbia? I was accepted but haven't heard anything regarding financial assistance. When did you submit your financial aid documents? I received a link to a survey to fill out to see if I am qualified for any financial assistance, but I only received that link once I was accepted.

Hi Delfin,

Sorry about the delay. I received the email a few hours after the financial aid survey was sent but I hadn't filled it out yet. (I'm international so I saw them both in the morning at the same time). And I received both a day after I got my acceptance email. Hope that helps!

Well.. I received an e-mail last friday. I also applied MPH.

Which department did you apply? Maybe it depends on dept.. some people at this forum heard from some dept.

I'm starting to really DISLIKE weekends because that means we get no news from schools 🤔*Sigh*....One more day before the weekdays!

Ahhhh the agony of waiting !!!! I think this forum has really helped me cope with the anxiety though! Therapy group (Public health practice in motion!:highfive:)

I applied to the MPH with RD Residential program so maybe it's different than just the normal MPH track? I'm assuming you got accepted?

For those that applied and/or got accepted at University of Michigan, was it a formal acceptance E-mail or a E-mail instructing you to check your Wolverine Access page?

The admissions coordinator had told me I should hear back (last week) but I have not heard a peep yet from them. However, I noticed around Tuesday that under my Application Status there was a new link " View Admissions Recommendation" or something similar, however, when I click on that link there is nothing else except some random information and then a blank box. I kept religiously checking this link everyday in the hopes that it would say something more definite, either a offer of admission or a rejection, but still nothing. I'm going crazy over that blank box!

I had some text in the box. But if you have a legitimate recommendation, you should receive an official acceptance email in a couple days.

I understand that residential means regular track or sth. Isn't it?
Formal title of degree that I applied was residential master program. So, I think we applied same thing or at least similar one. And fortunately, I got accepted. I think same thing will happen to you. good luck.

Thanks for sharing your stats with us, nigeriandr. What do you mean you were contacted several times by Columbia? What did they have to say when they contacted you?

They wanted to know more about my quantitative skills so they asked if I had A-Level maths. I replied that I don't have and tried to convince them about my quantitative skills. So they contacted me the following day (28th February) and asked if I could provide more details about maths courses I took in first year of med school. So I sent them my school prospectus and they acknowledged the receipt of the document and were amazed by my quick reply.
Now waiting for their decision.

Why are you only concerned about rejection?

Wondering if all of the acceptances were given out first and everyone else should simply be waiting for rejections. If there is a mix then it would be hard to infer the decision but if there is a pattern, then perhaps we could predict

Thanks, just getting nervous that I haven't heard ANYTHING from them so far : /

Anxiously awaiting responses from Harvard and UNC! As of now I am considering JHU, Yale, and Emory and maybe Columbia, but I'm extremely conflicted. I would also highly consider both of the schools I still have to hear back from, plus financial aid will play a large role.

I just checked my JHU online app and realized the acceptance has been sitting there since 2/21, I just hadn't checked it because I assumed they would email me!

Congratulations on all of your acceptances! I am also a fellow Wolverine. If you don't mind me asking, what are your top choices? I just got into JHU Epi as well dated 2/21.

That's impressive. I didn't know there is a pattern to admission decisions.

It's interesting that NYU has extended its application deadline. Has anyone received news?

Rejected at Columbia via email....that one hurts
