MPH Fall 2016: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I happened to check the UCLA application status portal and saw my admission letter! Accepted to Community Health Sciences, although I still haven't gotten an e-mail from them. Anyone else going to LA or anyone who lives there wanting to help me with my decision between Berkeley and LA? I haven't really ever been to LA but I have heard from a lot of people that it isn't a great place to live.

To anyone who received an acceptance to BU last week, did you receive the official acceptance package with scholarship info yet?

Starting to get impatient with BU. Submitted Jan 5th & was verified 1/12, but haven't heard back yet and it seems like a ton of people had quick turnaround times. Hoping they're just going through a ton of applications at the moment.

Hey everyone! Just FYI, I did receive a scholarship email from UTHealth yesterday night!
I was accepted on 01/15.

Good luck to everyone still waiting on that!

Congratulations and thanks for letting us know. Your "Accepted" date seems to be erroneous. Did you mean 1/16?

The waiting will never end.
When I was waiting for my first article to be reviewed, I refresh the editorial system every hour.
When I was accumulating my citation count, I refresh these stats several times a day.
Since you are going to be admitted to MPH programs, you will be in the academic world.
Our waiting will just continue.

Hey! If you were verified jan 12th you should probably be hearing back maybe two weeks after those who applied on jan 5th. Give it another week or two 🙂 good luck!

I am in the same boat. I was verified on 1/13 and haven't received a decision yet either.

Still awaiting Harvard and Yale. 🙂 Didn't get into Hopkins (of the three, I thought that was my best chance). Guess I need to dust off Plan B. 🙂 Congratulations to all who got accepted!

Congratulations! I am still waiting.. But the chance doesn't seem pretty high.

Looking through my emails, I actually got the acceptance email on January 14th. My bad!

Don't lose hope yet. In the end this whole process is basically just convincing a bunch of people in a room to like you. Just because one committee said no doesn't mean others won't say yes!

Congrats! Thanks for letting us know. Did you get it in the mail or email? and also did you get your admissions letter in the mail yet?

I received it via email saying that an official formal offer will be forwarded shortly.

I have been out of town for work this past week, but nothing before that!

Really really hoping to hear back from Washington soon, that is my top choice!
Heard from Yale last night! Hopefully y'all are next

Congratulations!

When did you apply and how were you notified?
I am still waiting!

Just filled out my FAFSA to get my EFC for the Columbia survey... I wish there was a way I could tell them that I likely *won't* be working during school. :nailbiting:

I wonder if the snow will delay Columbia's decisions if they had planned to release them today. I think NYC is expected to get 3-5 inches.

3-5 inches? That's nothing 😛. Decisions are usually sent out by e-mail, which is not delayed by snow.
Haha I know! (I live in Boston 😛) But I know there have been school closures so I wasn't sure if that would impact someone's job to approve/press the "send" button (or whatever they do to send out decisions lol) Sigh, just making excuses as to why I haven't received an email from Columbia yet lol

According to GradCafe, someone got into UCLA for Epi today. As if I haven't been refreshing my email enough already...

Just got into Berkeley!! I applied to HSB and was admitted to MCH, but I had strongly considered MCH when I applied and am super happy regardless!
Ah, congratulations!

I wonder if it has any bearing on other HSB applicants. I know MCH has been rolling out this week, so if it got kicked over to that department, maybe we HSB-ers are still in for a wait. Fingers crossed not!

The first Columbia acceptance was posted at 4:16pm on the first Friday of February last year. ... I'm eager enough about this to check the posting time.

I'm not even really considering Columbia, I just want to know! I'm sick of waiting.

Called them today and they said "mid-February" or "mid March" depending on when you applied". Sigh.

For anyone that is considering Berkeley, the School of Public Health is amazing! Also, they are in the process of building a new public health building on campus! The staff are approachable and the resources here are unparalleled. I have taken many undergrad and even some grad courses across all subjects with professors and faculty and have been inspired again and again.

Oh yay congrats! Is that the school you are leaning towards?

Does anyone have advice on UT and all the different campuses? Is there a difference between them?

I was accepted at the Austin campus and I'm sort of regretting the decision not to apply to Houston. I'd much rather live in Austin, but I'm not sold on distance learning, nor on how small the program is.

Houston is a disaster. That's all I know 😉 not the school but the city itself. Come see our traffic before you commit!
