Has anyone heard from Emory in terms of funding? Also Tulane..for admission statu
When I went to admissions info session at Emory yesterday, they said they started to release merit scholarships this past week, and will continue to do so next week.Has anyone heard from Emory in terms of funding? Also Tulane..for admission statu
Spoke with Columbia again about financial packages. Here's what they told me:
"Our merit award recipients have been notified. We are still evaluating our need-based and institutional awards. Financial aid letters will go out in two to three weeks. "
Hey! I'm moving to NYC to attend Mailman in August and I'm pretty lost as to how I'm going to approach the whole finding a roommate and living situation thing. Anyone have any advice or insight? Thanks. Congrats to everyone, btw!
I am really struggling to find concrete numbers for how much Columbia's 2year MPH costs. I think its ~$36,000 a year but this seems a little low... Anyone have a reliable source/concrete number?
That's actually correct. I have a couple small scholarships, so I pay about $25,000 a year. The other fees don't really amount to much, especially if you have outside insurance already. If you have to purchase student insurance, I would save up some money to cover that costI am really struggling to find concrete numbers for how much Columbia's 2year MPH costs. Congrats, that's amazing! Was it apart of your financial aid package or was it in a different email?Received an email last night from Michigan, 50% Dean's scholarship! This certainly changes things in the decision making process.

Hi all: I am trying to locate info for admitted students day at Columbia and Harvard, and do not seem to have received an email about either. Where did others find the info?

I feel ya ! The struggle is real . Give yourself three more weeks and hope for the best.Brown is literally KILLING ME
Hah! What changed on your wolverine account. Sorry!
I'll be at the Mailman Admitted Students Day!Does anyone have any insights on Brown (generalist MPH) vs Columbia (HPM)? Leaning toward the latter but really wanted to go to Brown for undergrad so a part of me was very very excited about getting in.
Also is anyone going to the Mailmain admitted students day on Friday?
So I got into BU about 2 years ago and also got $15k in merit scholarships. I was able to get about $3k more after I emailed them and asked for more after the decision deadline. I'm assuming they were able to give more aid because people had declined (or that's what the email seemed to imply). Obviously 3k isn't a lot, but it was something! I ended up pulling out of the program before the semester started because I got a job offer I couldn't turn down...so I'm hoping that money went to other students.

I'm leaning toward Columbia, just because I've been on the west coast my entire life but am keeping my options open as I wait to hear back about financial aid packages. I'm attending Cal's Diversity Day (03/19) and Admit Day (03/20) as well as Columbia's Admit Day (03/31) if anyone else is attending these events, would love to connect! Also, if anyone has questions about UW or Seattle, let me know!
Finally, congrats to all of you in this thread! I'm so excited.
Hi! Congrats on your acceptances! My perspective about UW may be a bit skewed because I grew up in Seattle and went there for undergrad. The campus is beautiful. There are so many different communities at UW, I don't think it'll be hard to find a place where you'll fit in if you decide to go. I'm impressed by the curriculum and PBL. Since I've been working full-time "in the field" for the past 2.5 years, I can see the benefits of having that small of a class and constantly working with your peers to face various public health issues. It's literally a working environment.Hey! I was also admitted to these three schools and will be attending the 3/20 admit day at Berkeley. Will be at UW 3/31. How have you liked UW? Any inside information about the COPHP program? I'd love your thoughts on what it's like to live in Seattle!
What are people wearing to admitted students days?
I did not receive a Brown portal. @brown1764 probably only has that because they are a current student. #brownsphanxietyDid you guys receive a Brown portal? All I got was an email saying my app was complete...
I did it last year @blairburr very simple process: asked the admissions director to defer for one year, formally accepted my offer, and paid a deposit. That's all there was to it.Does anyone have any insight on deferring admissions for a year? Haven't received any admissions decisions yet but am currently dealing with an unexpected family issue.

As for Seattle - I love Seattle, but I'm ready to move since I've been here all my life. The weather from October-April/May is gray, but the summer is amazing. Because of the tech industry boom here, I've interacted with a lot of people who are not originally from here so you won't be the only one. If you live near campus, I agree with the other posts - you won't necessarily need a car + traffic sucks so I would do public transportation. If you move here, definitely get a feel for ALL of the neighborhoods here, not just the popular ones. As for Public Health, a lot of people have master's degrees and the social justice/public health community is strong.
This is my general take, if you have specific questions or want me to elaborate, PM me!
25% tuition from Brown! To the rest of you who were accepted and received financial support: the first letter from the graduate school has a different cost of attendance estimate than the second letter from the MPH Program (unless living expenses somehow amount to nearly $37k/year). Which one is accurate?
I am! After getting off a red eye flight from seeing another program on the other side of the country...I'll be the one who looks like a sleep deprived zombie!
