MPH Fall 2017: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Accepted for Colorado. Global Health at UC Anschutz. No news or info on the email about financial aid or funding. Hope they send out that info later.

Yeah - pretty much the same for me. Zero info regarding financial aid or funding. ( Some day I'll learn how to pronounce Anschutz). You've applied ( and been accepted) to almost the same universities as I have, out of curiosity, which one/ ones are you leaning towards?

Is anyone attending UMN admitted student event around March 3rd and 4th? Have you heard any information or email from the school about the event?
I know of one person who is thinking about going. I unfortunately can't make it, but you should go find the private Facebook group and you may be able to find people on there who are thinking about going!

Had my Unviersity of Michigan interview today for the HMP department. For anyone curious, questions were standard. Why public health, why Michigan, where do you see yourself in your future career.

Anyone who has had this interview, how long did it take to hear back?

I know two of you have gotten Dartmouth interviews (@DecisionTime2017 and @jl_murray ), but do y'all know if basically everyone being considered for admission gets them? No one seems to be talking about them, even though for those of us who applied by the priority deadling, we're on the cusp of getting our decisions (Feb 1 according to the site). Wonder if its too late in the game to expect any more to be sent out.

My interviewer mentioned that the committee wants to make sure the people they're considering would be a good fit. Pretty general! But I wouldn't give up hope- I saw interview slots still available through January 31st when I was signing up so who knows! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I am leaning towards Minnesota. The cost of living and the tuition fees is lower. Also I really like the program and the class size. But to be really honest, it all comes down to which uni gives me the most funding and aid. I really hope it is UMN. What about you?

What GH concentration?
I got in for Global Health- Health Systems, Management and Policy.

My department for UMN said they are releasing info on first round of scholarships in February! Fingers crossed!

Just got into JHSPH!!!
acceptance via personal microsite
the decisions pages haven't changed in over ten weeks so it actually took me a while to comprehend what I was seeing
Where on the microsite do you see your decision? I emailed JHU admissions and asked when I could expect a decision, and they said to check my SOPHAS record. Does "sent for review" change to accepted/rejected? Or is it listed somewhere else? Thanks, and congrats!

When I was accepted the entire JHU personal landing page changed with new menu options in the sidebar. My sidebar now looks like this:

If you click on reply to offer of admission you'll find the "congratulations." However, even though I found out by checking the portal first, I also received an email from them later on the same day.

Good luck!

Thanks, this is so helpful!!

I got into Harvard's 45-credit Epidemiology program. Super excited!
Congrats! Did they send you an email or did you find out through the portal? When I try to log into my.harvard I'm directed straight to the course catalog, not the page where admissions decisions are listed 🙁

On the top of the page where it has "Course Search" highlighted in red, switch to "Harvard Chan". This should have the decision portal on it. I applied 65-Credit MPH, nothing so far.

Accepted into BU today - the turnaround for the application was a lot faster than I thought it would be. I'm not too sure when/ how they send out their financial aid stuff, there wasn't any mention of it in the acceptance email.

Whoa! I applied on 12/4, didn't get their confirmation e-mail until 1/10, and haven't heard anything decision-wise yet. I can't figure out why it took so long for them to confirm receipt of my application.

Has anyone heard back from UNC-Chapel Hill? I applied to a progression program (MSPH-PhD) but haven't heard/seen anything. Thank you!

Welp just took my GRE and not feeling so great about it. I have a ton of experience and a 3.89 GPA so here is to hoping that offsets the test.

Haven't heard back from any school but do you think I should retake the GRE? If I do, would my higher score (I'm confident it will be higher) replace my 1st scores even though the priority deadline has passed for JHU?

All suggestions are very much appreciated and welcome!

and a HUGE congrats to those who've gotten their acceptance letters!

What are people's opinions on applying to schools this late in the game? I only applied to 2 because I only applied to ones I could afford even if I didn't get any funding (I was really clueless about the funding process and the fact that getting significant funding is actually common).

So if I haven't heard back from either of my 2 at this point, is it worth applying to 2 more (namely, Pitt and IU Bloomington) or do you guys think that all the funding has already been used on other applicants?

I think most priority deadlines have passed so you might not get funding if you apply this late but you should call the school to confirm. Good luck!

Just got in to the Emory MSPH in Health Policy & Management program!! My decision never updated in OPUS, but I received an email of admission from the department chair.

Congrats!!!!!

Anybody else get Columbia's financial aid application email today? My heart leapt then fell. Hahaha.

I just got one too!

Anyone else accepted to Yale's HCM program? I would love to talk to anyone else considering it!

Got into Dartmouth with 15K merit.

Also received the Columbia financial aid app email.

Same! They said we'd likely hear back the first or second week of February.

Do you think "first week of February" means next week, since Feb 1st falls on a Wednesday, or the week following? lol.

Anyone heard from
Michigan's HPM program yet?

Unfortunately, yes. I miss out on the GPA part, but qualify for the GRE scores. Their financial aid department seems to be willing to work with students, so if accepted, I plan on talking to them to see if I can get anything based on my GRE scores.

Does everyone know whether this financial aid survey went out to everyone ?
