MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

Just learned that institutional scholarships are made on a rolling basis, and they're about half-way through the process of sending them out!

I completely get this! I understand holding off on committing because of other options, I just think for my situation Emory is perfect for my needs. I also have to trust myself enough to remember there's a reason it was my top choice this entire time.

If anything, the only thing that made it difficult for me to commit is I have a lack of experience that gave me some major imposter syndrome for a bit. My only somewhat relevant experience was I undertook a year-long individualized research project into the relationship between income and educational outcome. Aside from that, I had to spend all of my free time during school working full time at a local restaurant to pay tuition🤷‍♂️ I just made the decision to commit and do everything I can to make connections sooner than later; hopefully that'll help me mitigate any disadvantage I have.

I'm on an admitted students Zoom right now and they said that the MPH scholarship committee is still reviewing applicants for scholarships and sending them out on a rolling basis, which will continue through March, so not to worry yet if you haven't gotten one!

I’m in a very similar spot; I have virtually no PH experience. I’ve worked in healthcare for the past 3 years as a medical assistant but definitely feel unprepared compared to some of you guys here. If Harvard would just reject me already I could go ahead and commit somewhere😂

You're not alone! I also have a bad case of imposter syndrome. It's been nearly a decade since undergrad and I barely remember basic molecular biology and statistics. I have absolutely zero research experience, other than mixing buffers, and in my "relevant experience" as a PHN, I basically made phone calls and used a fax machine all day. Still gonna try to make this work. If you got accepted by Emory, they have confidence that you have the potential to succeed!
 
Anyone know when HSPH usually releases results (time)? From what I could gather on here people are expecting a release of results tomorrow!

Based on previous years posts, it's usually Thursday 3rd week of Feb (hopefully tomorrow), between 11:00AM-12Noon (eastern). But what difference does it make? People are going to be refreshing the portal starting 8AM!!! 😎

holy crap guys....EMORY GAVE ME A 50% TUITION SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!! +2,500 REAL AND $2,000 APE

I totally forgive them for taking 8+ weeks to give me a decision now bc WOW I am in SHOCK. Last week I thought I was getting rejected for sure 😢 This decision just got even more difficult ahhhhh I'm so grateful!!!!

On the dream topic, I had a dream I got an NYU admissions decision and I couldn’t get the email to load and I clicked it too many times and accidentally deleted it 🤦🏼‍♀️

Email does nothing. I emailed 2 weeks ago and they just auto-replied saying they are currently reviewing apps on a rolling basis. never heard a real email reply.

Same for me. I submitted my application on DEC 4 and marked on 1/11. Definitely frustrating.

The Yale office has been incredibly responsive (in my experience) - I highly recommend emailing them! They will pull out your application and let you know where it is in the review cycle and probably give you and estimate (within a week-ten days e.g.) in which you can expect to hear back. They are also hosting admissions events at which you can ask questions right to the director of admissions (they may have all passed now but they are honestly super accessible!!!). They've also said their apps are up 35 % so things are taking them a bit longer than usual.
 
Columbia emailed me asking for a clarification on my app... perhaps there is hope after all lol. Anyone want to share how they have been handling the stress of awaiting decisions???

I was told by another admissions director to avoid emailing any admissions offices as much as possible... Plus this post makes me nervous to email :/
