MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If BU could kindly send me my decision, I would greatly appreciate it. Not even bothered if it's a rejection, but my stuff has been in their office for FOUR months now and it irks me seeing people getting their decisions that submitted after me (no offense to any of you amazing humans). I just want to be able to start making arrangements for jobs and housinggggg

Same but also with NYU, UNC, and UMD 😫

For folks waiting on GW scholarships: I emailed yesterday and they said their scholarship process has been delayed and they are in the process of finalizing awards now and all students will be notified no later than March 1.
Okay, thanks for that information. Wonder if there are any full scholarships available lol

Exactly how I'm feeling about Emory and UMich... :/ Would rather find out about a rejection early on instead of having to wait months, if that is the case... just makes it harder to plan for the future.

Anyone have any updates on Umich scholarships? I’ve been waiting for almost 2 months. I know they said mid February but I’ve seen some people get their award offers! I’m specifically asking about HBHE 🙂

For Columbia HPM applicants: How soon after your application was sent for review did you receive an e-mail that a student would contact you for an interview? HPM has had my application for about a month, and I've only gotten radio silence. Thanks!

My app was sent for review 12/23 and I never got an email that a student would contact me for an interview. Instead I just received an interview invite from the student herself two days ago (2/1) haha

I just got an email last weekend about a student reaching out and I was sent for review on November 12th 🥴

Hi all! I have an interview with Columbia on Monday, 2-8. It's crazy to say but, with the little work experience I've had, I've actually never had to interview for any of my volunteer positions/jobs 😓 . I'm super nervous about the interview because of this! I know some people have said that the interview is informal and that they basically ask why you're interested in Columbia and the department. Is there anything else that I should know? Any advice or pointers for the interview? It would be greatly appreciated 🙂
I didn't apply for HPM and so I didn't interview, but here are my general interviewing/school interview tips!
A general rule of thumb for any interview is they will always ask why you applied, so think of some reasons and things that drew you to the program. And also, just be prepared to talk about why you love public health in general! Make sure to come prepared with several questions you have, and not ones that you could find the answer to online. I always like to ask about the culture, how students interact with one another or the faculty, how competitive things feel, etc. Don't be afraid to take time with your answers, don't feel the need to jump in and spout whatever pops into your brain. A benefit of zoom interviews is you can use technology as a scapegoat if you're really in a pinch. "So sorry, my internet can be kind of spotty. What was your question?" I obviously don't recommend doing that all the time but it really helped over the summer when I had a zoom interview with some really weird questions I wasn't at all prepared for. You got this, I'm sure you'll do great!

Wow thank you so much!!! This was very helpful. I'll keep all this in mind! 🤗

I'm also waiting to hear back on HBHE scholarhsip offers! I was told that to reach out if we don't hear back by mid February. HBHE decisions usually come out around this time too so it might take a bit longer!

Just got an email from Brown saying my app is under review but they don't have my FAFSA, though I sent it a few months back. Hopefully can get it smoothed out soon! On the bright side, they said decisions will be sent out in 2-4 weeks!
An update for anyone else having this issue: Brown said they don't have my SSN even though I provided it on both my FAFSA and SOPHAS. Seems like it's the same issue some people were having with Columbia? Hope this is not happening with every school :/

this happened to me with Columbia and I reached out to them and then the issue ended up being resolved quickly without me having to do anything. I imagine it'll be the same for Brown!!

Congrats on your acceptance! Can I ask when your app was sent for review and what program you applied to? I’m still waiting to hear back from the community oriented primary care program and my app was sent for review 1/6 🙁
My app was sent for review 1/6 as well. I applied to Epi.

Hope you hear back from them soon! Crossing my fingers.

Updating again! Just received an acceptance to UMD’s Behavioral and Community Health!

LOL GW sent a scholarship email starting with "Congratulations again on your admissions to the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University." then continues on to say "Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you a merit-based scholarship." 😆

Edit: Historically, I've seen them be stingy, so I wasn't expecting much, but damn GW lol!

Do you think Yale is done sending out decisions for the day or could there be more throughout the afternoon?

Was that a response to an email or just a random email?
