MSU-CHM decision today?

I interviewed at MSUCHM on Thursday, how long does it take for them to give you a decision?
 
I don't know how long it takes them to respond..but no call yet 🙁
 
Congratulations, man! I wasn't sure if they were still calling at this time of the day. I interviewed on that same day and I'm still waiting. C'mon, phone call!!!
 
Got the call! I am so ecstatic!

By the way, it was about an hour ago ... took some time to calm down and call my family.
 
Congrats everyone that got in!!!! Next year's gunna be a schweeeeet time (I just signed up for classes yesterday...ahhh)

Did you get your pin/pan number already? I was admitted a while back and still haven't received mine!
 
Hey, can I join the big kids club? That's right, I got the call, too!! I can't even tell you how excited I was- this is my third round of apps, lots of work and improvements, and my first offer of acceptance. I'll be in MI in a mere four months- wow.

Did anyone else ever compare Dr.Shafer to Santa Claus? Honestly, I think she's got one of the best jobs ever (well, at least this is a really cool part of her job). I know how ecstatic I was to receive the phone call (seriously, sobbing crying happiness after I hung up with her) - can you imagine how fun it is for her to be able to deliver such fantastic, life altering news?!

Unfortunately, I'm still on the alternate list. Just an update for those in the same boat. I called yesterday and was told they don't review alternate applicants until their class is full.
 
I just checked my e-mail. I'm on the alternate list. Good luck, Hamburger Helper and everyone else waiting too. C'mon waitlist movement!!!

How does anyone get in if they're an alternate, then? 😕
 
They get in when somone withdraws their admission for another school. Just like every other class.


I took the Liberty of starting a Michigan State University College of Human Medicine class of 2011 Facebook group....So everyone should join.

Disinence is correct. When a spot is available, then someone is taken off the alternate list, which is *NOT* ranked (that is what I was told).

I'll join that facebook group if I get in. Until then, I remain anonymous! :scared:

So sad...I got waitlisted 🙁
I'm definitely starting to worry whether its my interview skills or my low verbal subsection...I never thought my interview skills were that bad...but I have 4 interviews, waitlisted at 2 and am waiting on two more.

Does anyone actually get rejected post interview...
 
Im pretty sure MSU will reject poeple post interview. A waitlist means they think you are good enough to come to the school theres just poeple they may want more. They wouldn't waitlist someone they wouldn't accept...if that makes sence.

I got rejected at one school, and it hurt like a biaaaaaatch. I swear, my interview skills are not poor (as evidenced by my one acceptance- very very very grateful). I think there's a lot of reasons it could happen- some are legit, and some, like the rest of this process, is just a crapshoot.
 
I'm sorry to hear..I know it happens sometimes (as friends have told me) but I'm not quite sure with Michigan State, I've never heard of a rejection post interview... I was banking on an acceptance by now, but nope, 2 waitlists =(

i also couldn't find the group for a while but finally found it.... search under groups for " Michigan State College of Human Medicine Class of 2011" and you should be able to find it!

What I meant was if a class is "full", as was indicated by the post I responded to, there's no room for people off of the waitlist. But whatever. Apparently class is full doesn't mean class is full. LOL

Me too. It seemed like they only look at alternates after May 15 according to the email. here's hoping some good news comes in soon.😀
 
same here! I emailed admissions and asked them for some idea of how many people were on the waitlist and what percentage may eventually be admitted. They said they couldn't tell me. Anyone have any idea about how many waitlisters there are?

I don't want to get my hopes up if there aren't many spots available...it seems only fair that they should tell us if we don't have much of a chance :scared:

The acceptance withdrawal thread shows that only two people have rescinded their acceptances to CHM. I hope there have been more than that and the people just didn't post it on SDN 😱

Not to sound paranoid (but who on this board isn't) but did anyone receive an email back from MSU after saying that they want to remain on the waitlist? Just want to make sure mine went through becuase I REALLY want to go to school here.

i did not receive an email back. just double-check your sent folder and, as long as the email address is correct, you should be fine.

i called today, and they wouldn't tell me the number of people on the waitlist, but did say they've had a good number of withdrawals, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for us!! :luck:

awesome. I hope a "good number" means that everyone waiting here gets in. then we can all meet up in person and joke about how worried we were those months before. I'll even buy the first round, then we'll have to start studying:laugh:
