Hi everyone,
I got some interesting stats from the campus visit day that I thought I'd share.
.
..
I agree with all of this from the tour, though I have to believe the Level II PE pass rate is probably lower (the national pass rate dropped significantly). To add:
These facts may or may not be important, I just know some are interested in them
Other facts that aren't easily found on here or online:
-Around 20 students matched into ACGME residencies last year, including one at Cornell Surgery for some specialized variety (ortho I think?)
-It's true Pass/Fail, there is no internal ranking. The only thing that can involve grades is the Dean's Letter. I could not get a clear answer but I'm under the impression you get to choose which grades go onto the Dean's Letter.
-There's one "vacation" between semester-4 summer and semester-5 fall. It lasts from July to August. Other than the standard university breaks (winter/christmas, spring), there's no other real breaks.
- Apparently the wait list has moved roughly 20 to 50 spots in the past, it varies greatly from year to year. They are
not allowed to tell you your spot on it (exception the top 10 find out in April?). To the person who mentioned it earlier, attending the visit date will not help your chances, there's no attendance for it. The wait list is ranked evaluated by your "score" given by their admissions system. Don't visit just out of hopes of moving off the list.
-There is one month true month "off" to study (and take) Level I/Step I. This is June before starting clerkships.
-On a random note, there was a lot of OOS people at the tour. What looked like ~40%, this was a lot more than I expected.
