This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks Racergirl! 🙂

Jase133 I just PM-ed you back

Nothing in the mail today. #$%!. Does anyone have good news from Sinai??

I've been waiting for an answer since early October--which should make anyone here feel better since I wonder if anyone has been waiting as long as I have--this can't be a good sign!

I interviewed in October and still haven't heard.

hey guys,
just wanted to let you know that i was talking to a friend of mine and aparently NOONE who interviewed in October heard from them. She had some sort of theory but I forgot what it is 🙂 I don't know how many people she knows who interviewed in October, but just thought it was interesting that even on SDN the october people got shafted by Mt.Sinai. Anyway, good luck to us all. (btw, I interviewed Oct. 12. Anyone?

getting more nervous...

alright, this totally sucks with sinai. i know none of you has an answer for this, but do you guys think it would be logical to conclude that if we haven't heard within 6 weeks of interview that it's either a rejection/waitlist?

i am wondering when they establish a waitlist.

goddamn this is frustrating.

E'01, you work at sinai and know people on the adcom, is there anyway you could possibly ask (now that you're an admitted student!) what their process is and what's going on???

Has any of you guys called Sinai's adm office to ask for status?? I'm thinking of doing that. This waiting is really making me anxious.

Vinsanity there's no harm in calling. After I interviewied at stonybrook, I called them every 2 weeks to see if a decision had been made - they never did tell me on the phone but my interview was 9/26 and I finally got a writen reply (waitlist) like in February. Trust me, they don't care if you call. After that incident I got tired of waiting from other schools (pre-interview) and I called all of em (NYU, Hopkins, U Penn) - they had no problem telling me over the phone that i would not be getti an interview. Okay I know i'm going off subject but the point is, you've interviewed and its only fair that they tell you the status or at least tell you when you will find out.

Choker I'd call for you, but what would I say? I can act like I'm still waiting to get in and ask when i'm going to hear, but then I'll look like an idiot if they ask my name - and I was just down in the admissions office yesterday afternoon. Help me out here and I'll see what I can do. By the way, I don't "know" the admissions committee people as such - I just met with one before (and we keep running into each other in the hospital although he never seems to initially remember me) and was briefly introduced to the other on that particular day of the seminar. But WAIT a minute! CHoker the day we interviewed, Dean Kayne never showed up - I'm sure he was going to give us the spiel on the admissions process. So use that as your excuse - either call him directly or the office staff and explain that he wasn't there on the day of our interview and that you would just like to know what the process entails now that you have interviewed... i.e. when are decisions finalized.

I just called Sinai and they told me that no decision has been made yet. Today is exactly four weeks after the interview so I guess if I'm lucky I'll hear from them in a week or two.

I wonder if they mail decisions immediately after they decide or do they accumulate a batch before mailing them out.

just wondering... does this mean Sinai is done interviewing??? 😕

also, E'01, how did Einstein offer you the Merit $$$ (after acceptance?)?? is it need based only?

lastly, how do you guys know which med schools are in debt???

thanks for the info...

congrats again, E'01!

Mt. Sinai will finsh interviewing at the end of April.

Side Note: If you check interviewfeedback.com you will see that they also interviewed well into April last year.

Good luck.

Vinsanity it's still early - so no need to give up hope (I know you didn't say you had - but just hang in there 🙂

Hi Yunfat - welcome to SDN! Um I guess it was a merit scholarship since I have yet to submit my financial aid information. The letter said something to the extent that I was a good applicant and that since I was probably looking at other schools (i.e. NY state schools) they wanted to offer me money to help me to attend Einstein. So it's sort of a mixed merit/financial need scholarship. My friend (a non-SDNer) told me the other day that she got the same scholarship actually. Hope that helps!

E'01 Thanks for your support 🙂

yunfat, regarding the schools in debt you have to search for articles in the web. To tell you the truth many acedemic institutions are in debt.

I think they should get rid of their rolling policy and just call it random.

she said letters would be mailed out..."maybe end the of the month, but i really have no idea when"

when did you interview Oldman???
