I am just curious if anyone has heard from MUSC? I interviewed last month and they said they would send out the first batch of letters "sometime in December."

i havent heard anything either. i called bill liner. he gave me the scripted response of letters being sent in the mail starting this week and continuing into february.

I haven't heard anything either. I called Bill Liner as well and got the exact same response. I thought they used to call on dec 1 to let you know about the acceptance.

I haven't heard anything either. I heard they called people last year when to tell them they were accepted also, but I do not know of anyone that has been accepted so far.

I guess that makes me feel better! I had a feeling from the way they said "sometime in early December" that they wouldn't be contacting us on Dec. 1st.

How did everyone feel about their interviews? Everyone in my group seemed to feel pretty good about theirs....but let's be honest, they can't take everyone...so it makes me wonder how they choose....noone in my group seemed "socially retarted"....

Someone has added their name to the acceptance list for MUSC, so it sounds like they have started sending some out. Good luck to everyone sitting and waiting.

Yes, they "have started sending some acceptance offers" is what I heard from Mr. Liner. They send it directly from Dean's office using next day mail. So, just keep waiting for the entire month...totally nerve racking ??!!!

go to predents.com to get more recent updates. Two more students have been accepted!!!

~36 will be out before January... that still leaves 20 spots.

I interviewed Sep. 14 so this is PAINSTAKING!

how many more interviews though???
or how many have been interviewed in all???

by the looks of things, I think between 60-72 by this weekend. Interviews go through January so who knows? maybe 85-90 in all?

hey question!!! for those of u guys that got interviewed at MUSC what were yall's DAT scores and GPA???? I took mine recently but i'm not sure if it is goood enough to get an interview or not since my GPA is not high at all!!! my DAT score was AA/TS/PAT 17/18/16 and my GPA is around 3.04..... and i am a south carolina resident don't really know if that helps or not w/ my chance of getting an interview at MUSC. I am really scared!

Do we have any Clemson tigers here? 🙂

I'd like to know what everyone's scores are too out of curiosity?

I interviewed last year and have a 21/21/20 with a 3.1 GPA. I was told to continue shadowing and gain some more community service. I've done exactly what the committee has suggested and I have not even gotten an interview yet. I'm kinda losing hope in MUSC but this is my #1 school for sure.

My blood runs orange!!!!

To answer the questions... my gpa is a 3.56 and DAT was 19 AA and 20 PAT. I'm lacking in the shadowing department, but I also work full time in the summer and 25 hours/week during school so I'm hoping they take that into consideration.

ohh here's some info I got from MUSC's last cycle(I'm addicted to numbers..ha)
156 SC residents applied-51 matriculated
GPA average-3.56
AA 18.7 and PAT 17.9

It's really fustrating when your GPA is the only thing holding you back. I smoked those DAT scores last year and wound up being one of the 2/3 SC residents who got turned down. It's nearly impossible to turn around an undergrad GPA once you've finished 8 semesters. Does anyone know if retaking courses replaces old grades or just averages with the original grade? It seems stupid to retake courses that aren't going to drastically change your gpa and once you have your degree no one outside of a professional school is going to care. I started grad school and have a 4.0 GPA but that doesn't seem to weigh very heavily in thier considerations.

oh and mine runs red.........roll tide!

Here is another Clemson Tiger.

I have a 3.3 and 18AA / 21PAT. This is my second time applying. From what they told me last year they don't like seeing more than one C and they recommend retaking any C courses. About the GPA, from my understanding they average with your old grade included, but they take into consideration that you have retaken the course and made higher than a C.

who told you that they dont want to see more than one C. That seems like a situational problem. I know some people with multiple C's who have gotten in. Also they look at trending in grades. If you made 3 C's early in your undergrad or at a harder school they should cut some slack. Especially if you do ok on the DAT.

I interviewed 10/12 and am still waiting to hear back. I am a SC resident and my gpa was 3.3-4. Dat scores of AA/TS/P were 19/19/22. I have worked as a phlebotomist and lab tech at a doctor's office for a year but only have 30-40 shadowing hours in dental. So we'll see. The guy that got in Dec 1st on this forum was notified by UPS overnight mail that he just found on his doorstep. So be watching! Anyone know what percentage of the offers they make in Dec? I know it's a rolling process, but hopefully they don't wait until February to start letting most people know.

The "only seeing one C" was told to me in a meeting with Jill Stevens this past April. Im sure it is situational, but in my situation of having two C's (one freshman year and one senior year) I was told it would be good to retake one if not both. My GPA isn't the highest, so that may be why...just speculating on the info I was given though.

26 offers have been made so far... 10 more will be sent out Monday 12/17- the next round of letters won't go out until January

Very cool! Thanks for the info!

Where did you get your info from by the way?

Yeah I asked Liner a question over the phone once and all he had to say-after asking me why I didn't already know that from my interview-was the textbook answer. Very helpful. But I remember the lady that took our pics. She was way more helpful. Thanks!

oh heck... i cant believe that you would ever go to bama... WAR EAGLE!!

hehe

Yeah when I met with Bill back in the summer I thought he would be a lot more helpful compared to Jill who I always thought was way overworked and not very organized. I guess my initial assumptions are turning out to be wrong.

Well, has anybody heard anything from Monday's mailing yet?

I haven't... I think I might be part of the January group.... at least I hope so!

anyone else heard anything?

Does anyone know what day in Jan they expect to mail out? So we can all worry again?

late january(was told)... so sometime around 23rd/24th I'm guessing

So if we haven't gotten an interview yet is the door pretty much closed at this point? it kinda makes me mad that I interviewed last year and haven't heard anything this year after I did what they said I should do to please the committee.

they are doing interviews through late feb so I wouldn't say you're completely screwed, but the usual "there are less spaces left" spill goes here

Got a phone call from Mr. Liner and scheduled an interview on January 25th. He told there would be 12 interviewees on that day. I know it's kinda late in the game but don't wanna lose the grip of hope......yet! 😉

[edit] Thanks, smile101 and tigertooth08!

Nothing could be said at this point...they sent acceptances to about half of the interviewees from Dec 7th group (on Dec 17th). So, just go there and give it your best shot!!!

blackngarnet- you have a good shot! Good luck tomorrow!
