Hi there,

I just wanted to start a thread for people to post their raw and scaled scores for part 1 in 2007. I've seen a handful of threads with scores in them but I would like to see them all in one place. It would be very helpful to those of us taking boards soon to see how the scores are coming in. Even if you have not received your comprehensive score, please post your raw score then update it later.

I took mine yesterday and it really seemed like they were asking a lot of questions from different angles than all the previous tests. I drew blanks on a lot of questions where it seemed like on the old exams I at least had some clue on all the questions. Also, it really seemed that they didn't test as heavily in the same emphasized areas as I was expecting. For example, take occlusion: In previous tests, there was always a dozen or so questions on "which cusp in which fossa and what movement." I maybe had 3 yesterday. Kind of disappointing, especially when you know the alternative dental anatomy question you're getting is some bit of trivia about a primary tooth feature.

Hi papadel37, '98 curve is just a reference, it is too old, You will see, I took my NBDE 1 in january '07, still in the old pattern and here is my raw score and final score:
Anatomic sciences: 87
boiochem- phys : 84
Micro-path: 88
Dent anat: 90
final score: 87

I Think it is more realistic to compare your score using it as a reference, I hope it help you.

these marks are not ur raw scores.....................thats ur percentile,ur final score is an avg. of all percentiles in diff subjects,and ur final score is a percentile
in new pattern,the individual marks of each subject are the raw scores and the final score is not a percentile but a comp score

I've heard about the new pattern of scoring too, It seems that it is much different from the previous one, so many guys are worried about that because the average score will reduce about 5 point , I'm wondering whether the universities are aware about that or not!!

there is no point taking crack the nbde, its not worth it, the questions are tough, some have wrong answers. so overall it lowers ur confidence instead of boosting it.

Hey all...

So ive been doing some old exams and I want to get a feel for what I might be scoring around...

Ive heard that if you score around 50-55% correct then that converts to about a score of 75

Ive been getting about 75% of the questions correct in the 4 sections and I want to know what that equates to.... so if anyone is willing to help me out with some numbers that would be great!

I got my scores this weekend and I was exactly 5 points lower than I anticipated based on the 98 exam scale. It is interesting to note that on the score sheet it says "preliminary report of candidate performance." Could mean nothing, but you never know!

hi,

Would someone answer these 2 questions:

1. Can anyone tell me what score you have to have to just pass the test?

2. I'm hearing a lot of students say that they are taking the exam in april or may, do you study for the exam while in your spring classes? That sounds tough!

I am a dentist graduated from India and I am planning to take the NBDE I in next February. Can anyone tell me how much time do I need to spend on studies before taking the test if I Start now? I know if deffers for different individual but I appreciate if u tell me about ur experiences on test preparation. I have a small baby and oh god its so difficult to study.

It depends on your goals as a doctor. Do you want to just pass, or are you planning on doing a residency/specialty? I would take a practice test (maybe the Dec 1998 one since there is a score conversion chart) to see where you are or how much you remember from dental school. Although like everyone is saying, people are scoring a little lower nowadays.

Most of my friends and I are studying for about a month for about 6-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Although most of those people plan on specializing.

with old chart i would get an 86 ...
i do not understand ..what will gonna happen in the ada evaluation ???
but the most important for me now ...what do we need to do more ..????
