C
"Reciprocal" clicking is caused by a disc that migrates in and out of position during opening/closing movements of the mandible. In a patient with a reciprocal click, the condyle suddenly changes velocity and position coincident with the click. Clinically, this is seen as a sudden deviation in the opening path. Characteristically, the closing click occurs near the end of the closing movement. When the disc relocates in an anterior position, the condyle moves in a superior and posterior direction.
