Been watching these forums for a while but decided to finally post. I'm done with the supplemental app, but before I submit payment I was wondering about the references part. What are they looking for when they ask for the names of veterinarians that you didn't ask for a LOR from? Obviously you didn't choose them for a reason, maybe they don't know you that well.

Do you think these references are heavily weighted and that I should make the same effort to find the perfect ones like I did for the LORs?

I'm running out of veterinarians who know me well enough, tbh. And running out of time. 🙁

I think they just want to know how to contact the vets if they have any questions about what you did. When I went to an admission information session, they said that they would only contact the vets if they had a question about the number of hours. So my guess is that they just simply want to know what you did and how to contact those vets. Seems sort of redundant to me, but oh well. Good luck though! Are you IS for NCSU?

Did anyone happen to catch the NCSU policy on having more than 3 references? It wasn't brought up in the info session I attended.

I *think* that they only look at 3. However, I don't know whether you specify which 3 or they arbitrarily pick 3.

Yep, I am in state for NCSU. Thanks for the reply! It makes me less panicky. I like that you can edit the supplemental all the way up to the deadline. So even though I paid I can add a reference last minute. 😀

One of the vets I worked for, includes the majority of my animal experience hours...this was in a laboratory setting and thus I actually worked on a daily basis with 3-4 different vets. Should I include all the vets I worked for, or just leave it with the one that sent my LOR?

I have two vets that I shadowed/volunteered with for a limited number of hours...15 at one, 13 for the other...should I include these people as reference contacts?

On the NCSU supplemental app. - I can't find a "submit" button. I've completed payment and have a conformation number that was emailed to me, but I don't see that it has been submitted?! Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I think you just put everything in, check for errors, pay, and then you're good 😀 There is no actual "submit" button. You can go in and update stuff if you want to, but cannot change anything after Oct. 1 at noon.

you are right hunterjumper12 - thanks for your response...I found this on the supplemental application page of the ncsu cvm website:

Please Note:
There isn't a "submit" button to indicate the completion of the application. Just complete the application and submit payment by the deadline.

Good luck to everyone else applying to NCSU! I'm resisting the urge to login to the supplemental and read over everything one last time (even though I already did that 3 times last night...haha!). Must not log in....

I have officially joined to ask this question....

PLEASE PLEASE tell my that after you pay for the NCSU supplemental it is submitted.....I got an email receipt thanking me for my payment....but clearly now that its past the deadline I'm questioning if i should have got one for my submission....

Help i'm going crazy

Good luck everyone.. I'm not very smart and decided that although I'm not instate (yet) doing my master's here, I would apply. So I'm here with you guys too.. I love Raleigh! So it's going to be severely disappointing when they do not take me, as I am below the bar in there out of state "reccomendation gpas." :scared:
