anyone know if the class is full yet? When is it usually the last day they send out interview invites?

Im trying to make a decision between here and UNECOM. Have been excepted to both but am truly having a hard time deciding. Ive heard alot of conflicting info. But hoping someone on here can help sway me one way or another. Thanks

Hey guys, everyone that's still waiting nervously, I just received my acceptance on saterday. I interviewed a week prior so I'm not really sure why I received a decision so quickly but I hope you guys recieve your decisions soon! Waiting is by far the worst part of the process.
Oh and oos in case you're all wondering.
 
Congratulations! Are you going to attend NYIT? Please tell us your GPA and MCAT if you don't mind.

Thanks! I am not sure just yet. I loved the school and the match list was very impressive. I have cancelled a few upcoming interviews that I had but am still mulling things over (it's only been a few days since I found out).
As for stats sure. 3.94 gpa, 27 mcat, oos, white, bio major. Um I'm not sure if there is anything else you'd like to know but if so just ask.

Have you interviewed?

ahh, I interviewed in very early February and have not received any notice yet!
 
...and waitlisted. Interviewed 2/11. Anyone know if this thing typically moves?

ahh that's lame. I would call to see what's going on. You're letter may have been lost in the mail

Just out of curiosity were you morning or afternoon interview? I interviewed 2/11 but unfortunately i'm on spring break and out of the country now. I'm getting antsy to check my mail 🙁 From what I've heard they do accept people on the waitlist, just hold on there!

Yes, I interviewed on 02/12/2014. However, as of today, I didn't get any letters from NYIT.

1. Does the College of Osteopathic Medicine accept out-of-state students? What is the in-state/out-of-state ratio?Yes, the College of Osteopathic Medicine does accept out-of-state students. Our current in-state to out-of-state ratio is 70/30.

I'm not sure that they have a preference for IS. Nothing on their mission statement says anything about training future NY physicians, either. Can anyone chime in on this?

I think the large disparity is caused by the higher number of IS applicants

They want to form a network of alumni for their students in Long Island and the Boros as a resource for future students. They also want alumni throughout the country for name recognition. For my discussions with staff, having a group of students that will primarily be practicing in NY is an advantage to them and why they accept more instate applicants. The percentage of NY applicants also plays a part I would think though.
 
Does anyone know if we have to pay for the certphi screening?? I just shelled out $1500 for the deposit here and now i think they're asking $121 for the screening.. huh?

I interviewed four weeks ago, but I didn't hear back from NYIT. Does anyone know which telephone number should I call?

My guess would be to call 516.686.3747 (admissions office)

I am also interested in knowing what they say, I interviewed 4 weeks ago as well. Let me know how the call goes please!

I got my decision closer to 5 weeks from my interview date, I wouldn't worry too much.

I e-mailed them. They told me that my decision has been made on 2/28/2014, but as of today, I didn't receive it....

Did NYIT mail the letter by first class mail or priority mail?

I found this quote in the article:
"I'll go ahead and apply for medical school, and if for some reason down the road it doesn't work out, I'll try for the doctorate of osteopathy," Oliver said.

I can't even begin to say all the things that are wrong with his statement. Um..DO schools are medical schools. And it seems as if DO would be a backup plan for him. Hope Adcom doesn't find this out when he interviews

Nycom admissions said decisions from early February should be mailed out shortly
 
Does anyone know if we can submit LORs to NYIT-COM electronically via email on Interfolio? Or is mailing the only option? And if we have to mail, will NYIT accept LORs after March 15th? Thanks!

They accept interfolio.

I'm not sure about emailing letters to interfolio, but all of my LOR authors electronically uploaded their letters through interfolio as opposed to snail mailing them to interfolio.

Ah okay, thank you. Yeah, my LOR writers have uploaded their letters electronically. Now, I'm just trying to get them to NYIT by the 15th lol. Have you received a decision from NYIT-COM?

Oh, that's great! How was your visit/interview? Glad to hear you're still in the running. The average wait time seems to be around 4 to 5 weeks, but hopefully you won't have to wait that long. Thanks for your good wishes and best of luck to you!

I *think* it went ok, but I never know with these things haha. I really liked it though; the campus and facilities were very nice, the students were friendly and they kept talking about how much they loved the faculty. Thanks for the good luck!
 
do you think it is a bad idea to send a LOR to the school pre interview? Also my principal investigator is willing to call the school too to talk a bit about me.. but i'm not sure if it is too helpful pre interview? Thoughts?
 
For those accepted, do you know when they cash the deposit? I sent it via check and got a letter saying it was received but it hasn't been taken out of my account yet.

my check was cashed about 2 wks after they received it

i would say that def send all LOR in before your interview..because the commitee might meet a few days after your interview.

Don't worry, this seems to be the case with many people including me and others I interviewed with. It is very difficult to judge how the interview went depending on who interviewed you. It seems like they try to test your reactions to stressful situations.

I feel like the interview isn't as crucial as it is elsewhere.

Still waiting on a decision. Next week will be between the 4-6 week mark of waiting for me.
