27 Y/O with no kids and a B.S. in Psych currently debating acceptance between Drexel MSP and a RN program. I've been wanting to do this all my life, but was slapped in the face by how ill prepared I was for undergrad.

After dusting off my angry and wounded prided, I picked up 20 additional science credits in hopes of applying to PA school. I applied to PA school in 2009 and was not admitted. With the exception of immunology, I've taken everything else. I've no choice but to go to the graduate level. And I've regained my passion and self confidence that undergrad knocked out of me. (e.g. I graduated high school with a 4.1 and graduated college with a 2.91. And I wish I could say I was out partying, but I wasn't.) Thoughts of the debts make both my head and stomach hurt. However, I keep coming up with blanks when I try to imagine myself doing another profession.

38, just finishing my first year as an undergrad freshman. Yes, I made it so far without going to college. I was concerned about how I'll fit in college but it is not too bad, actually.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you milski. I am about to turn 38 and just starting my sophomore year of undergrad. I am going to have a lot of explaining to do with my scholastic underachievement from many years ago, but should still be able to manage a somewhat decent GPA because I have so far to go.

Like you, fitting in hasn't really been a problem but I do have moments where definitely feel awkward, lol. As I am in community college, I am working to have my AA done by Christmas and transfer.

Good luck to you all! If there is anything I can do to lend a hand to anyone, just say so.

Soon to be 26.

Didn't start college til I was 23 though. Just got my Bachelors, going back for the heavy sciences this fall. If all goes as planned (does it ever go as planned?) I'll be in med school at the dawn of 28.

23, would be 25 if/when I start in 2013...I'd ideally want to apply for 2012 matriculation but I haven't written PS or asked for recommendations yet, and my volunteer/shadow history is pretty weak. Shooting to take the MCAT end of August.

If anyone would like to convince me not to postpone another year I'm all ears haha.

I'm going to be 26 in July and I still have about 3 yrs of undergrad to finish *grumble*. I wish everyday that I didn't decide to "take a yr off" after high school and instead just banged out my bachelor's degree instead of working full time for the last 10 yrs of my life but it is what it is. I have dreamed of being a doctor since I can remember and I feel that I would be dissatisfied with any other career choice so I have to do what I have to do. If my math is correct, I would be 30 by the time I matriculated, if I got in on the first try but hell I'm going to be 30 no matter what so I might as well be entering med school while I'm at it 🙂

I am currently 26 years old. I was gunning young pre-med since the age of 18 but due to family problems my GPA and MCATs suffered quite a bit. I did three years of post-bacc work to improve it. I applied to my masters just this past year and will soon graduate (non-thesis route).

Because of the advice of a friend, I decided to apply for this cycle. I applied to five schools this cycle (did not have much money this round). I was not accepted to any of the schools through the normal route. Luckily, I have been accepted to the University of Hawaii: John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) through their Imi Ho'ola Post-Baccalaureate program. After one year in this program, I will matriculate to JABSOM as a MS-1.

Funny part of this whole story is that my friend actually got into medical school through this program . What are the odds!? Then again both of us are from Hawaii. LOL

what's up!!! 29 here will turn the big three-oh before med school would start. What better way to start your 30's with 8 weeks of med school biochemistry baby!! Half joking there but I would be excited lol. Tip your glasses to us

25 here. Finished college at 21, been working full-time and slowly taking my pre-req's since then. Will be entering at age 26.

I'm 32 and am taking my pre-med classes this coming semester!

34 y.o, about to turn 35 in a month. Currently I'm going through a 2-year Post Bacc program in Texas, hoping to apply in the summer of 2013. It's a long road ahead, both emotionally and financially, but I'm trying to make it work.

Starting college at 23.

Hopefully I can zoom through the pre-reqs and take the MCAT at 25, my school offers full term summer classes so it's basically in trimesters.

I already know what I want to do for my EC's and most of my aunts are nurses in area hospitals so shadowing and clinical volunteering won't be an issue.

Big thumbs up to all the non-trads! :luck::luck::luck::luck:

26 and starting my post-bacc program this fall. Sometimes I feel like it's the most daunting thing in the world that I won't be done with this journey (or at least done with med school) until I'm 33 at the youngest...

...but then I think that this is a marathon, not a sprint, and even if I graduate at 33, and spend the next 5 years in a residency, I'm still gonna have a good 25 years to practice at the least!

Turned 30 last year. Applying this year. Hopefully will be accepted and start med school next year at 32, and practice medicine by 40!

Been working for about 7 years as software engineer. No kid yet, until end of this august 🙂 Planning to have another kid during med school... will see how that goes.

Just turned 38 and am applying this cycle for med school! Good luck all!

I will be 52 when I start medical school in a couple of weeks.

21. What makes a young'un like me a non-trad, you ask? Well, I started college at 16, dropped out in the middle of my junior year for two years, got back to college this year, will be finishing up my (non-science) degree this coming year and then doing a post-bacc, probably looking at 24 or 25 by the time I (hopefully) matriculate at a medical school. So I'm taking a circuitous route, albeit at a fairly young age.

32 yo. Been married, divored and remarried. 4 kids. 2 on a FT basis. 45 credits under my belt. Pre-dental

I am 31 and am returning to school after 10 years in another profession. I don't feel old at all...until I here people on here griping about feeling old in their 20's 😉

Got a Ph.D. and have done 4 years of postdoc in biochem/cancer research. Turning 33 by the end of this year. Hoping to begin med school in 2013. Good Luck to All! 🙂

Hey everyone I'll be 26 in a few months, after this semester I'll have 6 pre-reqs to take which I'm excited about....I'm still debating if I'm going to apply to a masters program or just go for med school first....when I first started college years ago I didn't have good grades so I just need my GPA to be up to par this time around I wish everyone the best we are all going to make it!!🙂

24 years old right now. Re-taking some pre-reqs and then applying to SMP. Been working as a research associate doing molecular work for a biology lab at a research institution. I kinda hate Drosophila. Good luck and godspeed my friends.

I'll be 27 in November, probably 29 when I apply, 30 in MS1 🙂

I'm 34, mom to 3 year old twins, and if all goes as planned, will be quitting my job and returning to school to complete my undergrad in January. Hoping to start medical school at 38. 😱😱😱

I have you all nailed. 56 just graduated with doctorate in psychology. focus? ummm, yeah....

27 currently, likely 30 by the time I matriculate (if not later -- thanks to a terrible undergrad GPA).

Turned 26 a couple of weeks into MS1 now i'm 27 in MS2.. kids here are about 5 years younger than me since people here enter medschool about a year or two younger than in the US on average. I'm officially the oldest in class but there are 3 or 4 students who around about 24-25 (Also internationals i.e. came from the US or Canada)
I dont really feel any different except that sometimes the younger guys can be too noisy or whiny.. a couple of girls like to call me grandpa for fun and i dont really mind it 😀

An advantage that once occurded to me is that by hanging out with younger slimmer folks (at least in this country) u will keep your weight in check!! Gaining weight is contagious.. so imagine if you were hanging out with a whole bunch of late twenties early thirties people? i donno but thats what i tell myself to stay happy

27
one daughter (5 years old in december)
one husband (hehe)
no pets

Got my BA in Psych at 23
Finished my med school pre-reqs at 27.
Should be in med school by the time I'm 28 if all goes well *fingers crossed*

30 years old... married, house, full time job, etc....Hoping to eventually get into LECOM-B

I finished up the majority of my pre-reqs (Sciences, Bios, Maths, etc) in 2003. Fall of that year, I turned 21 and discovered alcohol. LOL Unfortunately that lead to me dropping out of my 4 year university. I have since went back to another school, obtained a bachelor's degree while working a full time job averaging 50+ hours a week. I am now getting back on track to where I was all those years ago and hoping for the best. Good luck to everyone...

PS I should have listened to my mother when she told me going back to school would be harder than staying in school. It's taken me twice as long to get things accomplished. Agh... (Don't tell her I said that )

I'm 32. 😱 ... but don't look a day over 31!
My beautiful daughter is 13. 😍
My second child (my dog) is 1 and a half. 😍

Started undergrad at 20, got my degree at 25, and have been working as a protein/structural biology researcher ever since.

Hope to apply to medical school by 35. omg... graduating medical school will be the best 40th bday present ever! including a crazy trip to vegas... to which my daughter will be able to attend due to her then legal age of 21. 😀 👍 (jk)

hope you are all well!

40 and a vet of the Army and Air Force. Got a five year old cat, no kids, and a wonderful fiancee who has been with me every step of the way. Finished undergrad in May 2010 and am finishing up my masters degree now (C/O May 2012). Will be applying for 2013 admissions.

39 years young - looking to start Dental school at 40. Crazy? - maybe

I'm 22... so it may sound weird saying I'm a non trad based on age but I've got 2 children, a wife and own a wood working business while finishing up school.

I'll be applying for Fall 2013 so I'll be going on 24.

32 .. 33 in January.

Wife, two kids, job, mortgage, two car payments.. the works.

26, B.A. Architecture back in 2007. Spent 2 years in the Peace Corps and now working full time as a graphic designer. I'm going for DPT. It's going to take me 2 to 3 years of evening classes to get the prereqs. Hopefully I'll be in a DPT program by the time I'm 30. My undergrad GPA wasn't really impressive so I have to really ace these prereqs to show personal and intellectual growth.

Im 26 and just got accepted, when everyone found out that I'm married and have a daughter they just looked at me and asked "why?"

what do you say to that?

I'm married and have a son. You say, "because I'm that good!"
