Yeah I was wondering about the 1000 post mark.

So when exactly is the last day a school can pull someone off their waitlist. Is it the first day of orientation? First day of classes? Can they pull someone within the first week of classes itself?
 
Pretty sure it's first day of orientation...that's all I've ever heard!

Yeah, the best I've heard is someone doesn't show up for orientation and so they call a person off the waitlist.

Yeah, I've heard that as well...can you imagine?! Hello, pack up and move NOW!!! Lol, I mean of course you would drop everything and go...without even a glance. But that would be INSANE, to say the least! 😛

sigh yeah i got that email. what is up with the tx schools this year? everyone sending us emails even though we were rejected. stop teasing us!


i guess that was the email list for everyone who got interviewed...

That's terrible! I didn't get that email and I interviewed...sure glad I didn't get it though. Way to make us feel more terrible than we already do!

We're down to four (depending on whether the last day to get an acceptance is either 1st day of orientation or 1st day of class)... guess that's why this thread was on PAGE 6

TECH: First day of Orientation August 1st, first day of class August 6th.

UTH: Orientation Aug. 15th, first day of class Aug. 20th
UTSW: Orientation Aug 11th. Aug 13th first day of class.

saw someone just got into Tech on the allo class thread. Probably couldn't find this one to post here it was so ancient.

Well, I suppose I'm done...I got a letter from UTMB dated the 3rd that said, thanks but were no longer considering your application for last year's cycle. Sounds like my hopes up. 🙁

Good luck to all of you that are re-applying! I hope we finally get what we worked so hard for...

in my second week of classes at TCOM right now and i have to say it's pretty crazy (but very doable).

Well, in Diana's last post about her UTMB letter, I am glad that she at least got closure because I personally would prefer to know.

Because for instance, having a guy that you go on a blind date with say at the end of the night, "I guess I'll see you around town. I'll get your number from [insert name of person who set you up and walk away]"

VERSUS

having a guy shower you with attention for three weeks with sickeningly sweet words* only to then disappear in which time you find out from a mutual friend that he started dating a dermatology intern after meeting her on the SAME DAY but he doesn't know you know but then when you run into him at the hospital cafeteria after he's returned from his away rotation and not called you for 2 weeks, you have to pretend like he doesn't exist even though you're torn between telling him off and just hugging him because you missed his smile and the thoughtfulness he once appeared to possess...

And this relates to med school because I would rather have a more obvious blow-off/rejection than a disappearing act heavy with uncertainty *coughUTSW/UTHcough*

Yes I agree. I changed my address and was wondering if UTSW had sent out rejection letters... guess not then.

Yeah anytime a guy starts shoveling bullsh** like that out of his mouth, he has an agenda. Next time a guy does that just slap him right across the face and knee him in the groin as soon as the words come out - a preemptive strike is your best option by far.

I'm not that experienced, but up until now, I hadn't yet been played by a certifiable geek. This guy built robots in high school, he breathes inwardly AS he laughs, he has a funny walk reminiscent of a puppet, he grew up being abnormally skinny (he tried to defend his high school BMI of 17.3), and I was told by other med students that he didn't date around. I didn't realize I was supposed to be suspect of ALL men.

ARGGH.

Yes, despite what Hollywood flicks will tell you, nerds are not the kind hearted, dependable, multi-dimensional carebears that will catch you when the jocks are done ripping through your heart.

Men are men. Nerds are simply smarter ones.
 
Back to med school stuff, I just answered the phone to my boss's office line, and it was the UTH Asst Dean of Admissions. She remembered me and asked how I was holding up, and I said it was a struggle with only one week left to wait and hope. She said "you never know [etc etc]. Sometimes when people don't show up on the first day, we'll fill in those spots, but last year, the class was overbooked anyhow." 🙁

Then for something that my boss is working on with her, she asked if she could make me the contact person, and she said to let her know who my replacement is if I'm not still here next month. I said SHE'D know before me if I needed a replacement...

Med school and men...still stringing me along.

Don't know if this helps anyone but someone got off the waitlist for UTMB last Friday. One more week until UTMB orientation.
