Nova Class of 2025 Interview/Acceptance Thread

I had Dr. Galka and although I only have a 3.1 overall GPA, she said my masters program (3.8 GPA) "really put me over the top." Also if I'm not mistaken, she told me that if you have a masters/graduate GPA they'll consider only that and ignore your undergrad GPA.

Wow, I also have a 3.8 master GPA, but I guess because my DAT is not competitive enough, so that's why I just saw "application denied" on my aadsas status. Anticipate for a rejection letter any days now 🙁

Ah sorry :/ I had a 25 DAT so I'm sure that helped a ton. You should definitely follow up with them and get some feedback.

Does anyone know how long the in-person interview day lasts? I have mine this week and trying to figure out what time to tell my ride to pick me up! Super excited!!

If they are telling you your DAT or sGPA is not competitive, why are they even inviting ya for interviews???? That makes no sense to me,.

Congrats to everyone who received an interview! Was wondering if anyone will be interviewing in-person the 2nd of December (Wednesday)? Send me a DM/PM, not too familiar with SDN.
Hey, I have an interview that day!

Finished the interview 🙂 open file and Dr. Quinton was so friendly and also chill!

When you received your interview invite, did you have to have a good reason to go for a virtual interview? Or they don’t really care which you choose?

They don't ask for a reason. You can just email them asking for a virtual interview instead of in-person.

To those of you that have interviewed in person this year, what time did you finish? I am deciding whether or not I can make an evening flight out of FLL.
Thanks

I am still hoping for an interview here, Do you mind sharing your stats?

Beautiful school, great program, multidisciplinary curriculum, and loved the overall atmosphere! My interview was one-on-one with a very nice person! The vibe was very chill and they truly do want to help their students at the end of the day! Ladies, you have to walk, so don’t wear uncomfortable heels like me 🙁

Does anyone know where I can find additional information about Nova's program like class statistics, curriculum, and mission statement? I have looked on their website, but I cannot seem to find any of this anywhere.

Anyone else interviewing on December 2? Im flying in from Tennessee!

Is there an opportunity at the end of the day to give them a hand written thank you note instead of an e-mail? Or do they say they prefer e-mails only?

You gotta be extra sneaky to slip it into their purse/satchel

What kind of questions do they ask in an open-file interview? I have mine coming up and I'm nervous because it's going to be my first interview in general and I'm wondering how to prepare?! Thanks!

Tell me about yourself.

Why do you want to be a dentist?

Why do you want to attend NSU?

Why not medicine?

Dental school and dentistry in general is very difficult, can you handle it?

How do you manage stress?

Do you have any hand skills or experience working with your hands?

Why do you think you struggled with _______ class?

What spurred your improvement in academics?

Tell me more about _____ experience.

Why did you participate in the activities that you did?

They're going to ask you pretty much the same types of questions as other interview types. You just have to make sure you know what you put in your application. Read the interview feedback people have provided on SDN and look at the questions they've been asked. Don't get too caught up in memorizing answers for every single question. You can mostly work on the bolded questions I provided, and other than that just focus on knowing yourself and being relaxed during your interview.

The beauty of Nova’s interview process is that none of these questions came up lol

Lol yea you MAY get one or two of them, but the important thing is that you understand who you are and why you're pursuing dentistry. If you know your application, from there it's just about being comfortable and able to hold a conversation.

Where do we go for the interview? I have received no information on the schedule of events for the in person day

You’ll receive the information and if you are worried they may have forgotten about you just send them an email.

Does anyone know when we could start expecting phone calls on decision day and if AADSAS would be updated with decisions on midnight?

Hello guys ! Congratulations on your interviews ! I scheduled my interview with NOVA CDM via zoom and I was wondering if any of you did your interview with them virtually and if you did can you give me some feedback. It will be greatly appreciated ! thank you 🙂

I personally was not very impressed with Nova's interview. You just talk to current students, some faculty/staff, and then head in for a 30min chat with a faculty member. That's it. Very standard set up.

You are the only person I’ve seen who has felt that way

I actually agree with them. I interviewed last year with the same setup and found it very weird. They didn't seem to really put much effort into it, especially with the interview questions.

What type of questions do you think they should be asking?
