NSU-COM Interview Discussion thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My guess is those people who are rejected aren't wasting their time logging onto SDN to give us the bad news. I'm currently waitlisted, but if I'm eventually rejected, I'm not sure I'll be logging onto the NSU threads to spread the bad news.

On another note, I'm convinced the waitlist won't move at all until after 3/15. For those who've heard nothing at all post-interview, who knows. Didn't someone get accepted last week? I spoke to Rachel since then and she confirmed that the person most recently accepted was NOT off the waitlist, but a recent interviewee.

So with the lull in activity, I suspect some action post march 15th! That day could not come any sooner!

I'm thinking about going to Rachel's house and serenading her while wearing nothing but a white coat and a stethoscope. Anyone else down for this?

That sounds like a more realistic figure (550)- and it makes sense since both Dev and Rachel said the accept half. Frankly, the admissions process makes no sense to me. I was going through the threads for previous years and it seems like they have never had such a delay before... not sure what went wrong in January but it completely threw them off. Guess 3/15 it is then! Hopefully we'll all get good news... Hopefully they'll end up with the predicted 35 (or more) seats after the deposit deadline.

It seems to me that more would open up. A few of the people I interviewed with were sitting on acceptances in hopes of going to NOVA but their deadlines for their 1500 deposits were due way before NSU would be notifying them. I dont know that many people that would shell out almost 2 grand to one school then decline and go to NOVA. I'm sure there are many people in this situation that will end up going to another school b/c NOVA just took too long.

What are some of you guys that are waitlisted doing to help get yourself off the list? I'm getting another professor to rec me and I've been looking to do some more volunteer work, as well as writing them a letter and trying to do well in the classes I have left.

I've paid a deposit (and I'm about to pay the 2nd deposit...) to another school, and I'll abondon it and go to Nova if I'm accepted (I interviewed on 2/6 and haven't heard anything yet). In the grand sceme of the amount of money we're talking about 2 grand is nothing.

I see your point, but I personally wouldn't want to have to lose 2grand that I don't have. If all I have is 2 grand and I have to decide between my first choice being up in the air or a sure thing I'd pick the sure thing. I wish less people liked it so i could go lol. NOVA is just too damn good of a school.

Well I don't particularly WANT to either. lol

I interviewed 2/25 and got waitlisted, this sucks

I've made my deposit at another school. Not much we can do about that, but I'm not going to turn down Nova if I get in simply because I paid 1500 to another school. It's small change in the end of the day.

Has anyone that interviewed 1/29 or before heard anything recently?? COngrats to those that have heard good things and good luck to those who are going SLOWLY insane like me!

i know this was mentioned on the other NSU thread, but did all of you get a webstar PIN before your interview notification? or are there some people that got them that didn't get interviews yet?

Interviewed 1/25. Spoke to Rachel last week and she said that they were accepting a handful of people until 1/22, they stopped at that group. Past that they may have taken people but those are few and far between. Based on the feedback we have all gotten I'd say that there is no real chance of hearing anything before 3/14... or actually the week after that since 3/14 is a Friday.

Good luck!

We have waited this long - one more week is nothing! Are you sure they didnt stop at the 1/22 group? I recall only 1 person getting accepted from this group and a good number getting Wl'd/silent hold. At any rate, my letter of intent is in and I look forward to hearing from them soon!!!

Good luck to everyone! BTW, did she mention anything about those who have heard absolutely nothing since there interviews???

I'm keeping my confidence levels up and so should everyone else. I interviewed on 1/25 and was waitlisted. If they stopped accepting people at 1/22, then it's just a matter of time until many of us eventually get in. Two more weeks of waiting is nothing but big pain in the *** and plenty of time continuing to be wasted on SDN!

....

The WebStar ID and PIN do not mean anything other than you can sign in and check on your status as an applicant. I didn't get my PIN and ID until about a month after I got accepted last year, so who knows what the deal is with the WebStar stuff.

no, not the applicant site. the one that comes in the mail and says, "confidential information" and has the info so you can access registration/tuition/financial aid, etc. different from the first one that you can check you app materials. getting this doesn't mean anything? :scared:

That does not mean anything either. The N number is assigned to every applicant.

... and one more week passes by. Maybe a few of us will get lucky and hear something this week, though it sounds pretty doubtful. At least the big day is not too far away now.

Anyone else hear anything?

Hang in there, answers should be out soon.............

What does the letter say?

sorry bout the late response, i havent been on the forums as of late, or looked at this thread. In summary it says i have been classified as an alternate for the 08 entering class. Application will receive careful consideration and I'll be notified of any changes as soon as possible.

Applications in this position aren't ranked, thus we are unable to indicate where any individual is in regard to being accepted.

and basically ask if i have any questions, and they wished me "every success in the pursuit of your career goals"

Man, i really hope i get in

hang in there, i have been waitlisted since september, lol.

I too am an "alternate." It seems weird to me how do you pick people to fill spots if it isn't ranked. There must be some kind of lottery or random draw of alternates for them to get in.

don't they just re-review all the alternates after they figure out how many spots are left and after interviews are over? It seems like less than 5 people have been accepted since mid-January, weird!

Only 2 days to March 15th! cross your fingers

wouldnt it be easier for a school to rank them, so they dont have to review all of them?

It is quite difficult to have a rank list since there are still interviews going on. Also, it is difficult to assess an applicant's progression since the time of their interview. Some applicants send in updated transcripts, other LORs, LOIs, and what not to improve their candidacy. Constantly changing the rank after each interview pool is arduous...

I believe that you received an interview, you are qualified to be accepted. It is your interview and what you do afterwards that sets you apart. Best of luck everyone.

yeah, but I'm pretty sure they said they don't rank the waitlist? I could be wrong, all the interviews have mushed together into 1 gruesome experience in my head hah

Yep... 2 more days- though the 15th is a Saturday! Not sure how easy it's going to be to get a hold of anyone at the office on Saturday, hopefully we will all hear something within a few days though.

Good luck to everyone! :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Hey, what happens on the 15th? I'm an alternate in waiting too!!

So does anyone know if they're still giving out interview invites? I highly doubt they are but am just wondering....I know that they've been extremely behind in the process, but they have yet to get back to me since my app was complete in January and was wondering if they're even nice enough to say "go away", on an official letterhead of course.

The 15th is the deadline for the 2nd deposit (to hold your seat) for those accepted to NSUCOM. Applicants holding two acceptances may choose not to pay the 2nd deposit and thus go to another program. That leaves empty seats for those on the waiting/alternate list. At that point, files are re-reviewed and applicants are given acceptances.

Best of luck everyone.

I propose a better idea to go through the alternate list. Reserve a few spots for a March 15th Auction. Start the bidding at 1500 dollars.

Hey I completed my application in January and didnt hear back from them so I called up and spoke to Dev and he set me up with an interview this monday on 3/17. He was supposed to send me a package but as of yet I haven't received it. Is it possible if someone who has already interviewed could tell me where I have to go? Much obliged!

i called the admissions office and inquired about the status of my application. The number is listed on their website🙁954) 262-1101

Can anyone who has interviewed PM me the location please!!!

And so the Ides of March has come and gone...but no correspondence of any sort from NSU COM. Guess I'll find out Monday.

I interviewed back on Monday, Feb. 18th. Anyone from that group on here and get their "sentence" yet?

You have to go to 3200 S. University Dr, 33328, That's the Health Professions Division Building. You can park in the parking garage and go to the admissions department in the first floor. You have to be there before 8:45am. I recommend looking at SDN Interview feedback for more info. Good luck.

👍

A fellow interviewer told me after she talked to one of the admission counselors. Currently, about 90-95% of the seats are filled, but that will change soon after March 15th.

Do schools usually start giving out seats the week after the March 15th deadline or do they have to wait until they see the rest of the interviewees? I already got my mom on mailbox duty just in case.

The trickle will start next week. There will be a few seats for those who have yet to interview.

Ok then I guess I should get my mom a chair to wait by the mailbox with for the next few months

Is there anyone that applied to NSU that wouldn't choose it as their first choice? It's like everyone I talk to would leave any other school in a heartbeat for NSU.

Well, most people who are on this forum want to or are considering going to Nova. You may want to search the other forums to find those who were accepted to Nova but are more interested in going somewhere else.
