What do you like and dislike about the particular NY schools. Has anyone heard from NYU or Sinai? What are the different NY schools looking for in medical school canidates.

have u considered DO schools?

NYU and MSSM started their interviews in late October/early November last year. Columbia got started earlier in late August, hence why they were quick with offering their secondary. MSSM's secondary is forthcoming very shortly, Cerb. And it's possible that NYU is screening for secondaries this year? Not sure about NYU, though, that's just what I've heard.

Well, I would prefer the NYC area but if thats not possible then I still like certain other parts of NY. I'd really just rather live on the east coast then the hot ass south for awhile.

So far, I've heard from the following schools.

NYU
NYMC
Albany
Upstate
Downstate
Einstein
Rochester

Just waiting on Sinai now.

Heh, then you're definitely doing the right thing applying to Syracuse and Rochester. You'll get all the snow and cold you could ever have dreamed of, and then some.

Hey, they sent me a letter yesterday asking me to apply! It was funny. I don't think I could ever handle feet.

Hey all, I was wondering if someone can clearfy for me the NY resident for SUNY schools? How long does one have to live in NY before qualifying for in state tuition? What are the requirements- ie. living there for a couple of years, having a driver's license, filing a NY tax, etc. Please let me know, thanks

I dont know but I've heard that you are eligible for instate tuition after your MS I year. It true, it would be very nice!

I know you have to live in NY for at least 12 consecutive months and I think generally, you have to look like you've severed ties with your old state (i.e. no permanent domicile in another state, file taxes in NYS if you work, NYS driver's license, etc, etc).

I kind of looked into this earlier because I wanted to go out west and it seemed like a lot of the states have similar residency rules.
