I was complete early August, 3.5/29Q/OOS and I haven't heard a peep 🙁

Yes I was. I have almost the exact same stats as you, although I'm from Long Island. Good luck though!

Definitely. As crazy as it sounds - its still early for NYCOM since the secondary was only accepted since Labor Day and only a small amount of interviews have been given out so far.

For what its worth, I have similar numbers to you and I received an interview before completing the secondary, so I think you still have a great chance if you submit ASAP.

Something to keep in mind (it's kind of obvious, but it bears mentioning): Although it's true that this is early in the interview season for NYCOM, that only means that they start interviewing later in the year than most schools (possibly to avoid accepting a lot of people who will end up getting into an MD program, and turning down their NYCOM acceptance. before anyone kills me, i'm not saying that no one applies there specifically wanting to go to D.O. school. they do. but NYCOM gets a lot of applications from people who want to go MD and want to go to school in NY and use NYCOM as a backup plan.) Anyway, the late interview cycle does NOT mean that people wait until later in the year to apply to NYCOM. people submit their AACOMAS as early as possible and many people are invited for an interview before they even submit their secondary. As we all know, the later you apply to schools, the greater the disadvantage. NYCOM is no exception to that rule, regardless of when they start their interview season. Even if you have the stats and EC's they are looking for in their applicants, you will still interview much later than a similar applicant who submitted 3 months before you did, and later interview=less available spots or waitlist.

Don't want to be a downer. Just keeping things in perspective.🙂

I believe we're in agreement there. And based on how people are getting interview invites it looks like they're going in order of when the primary application was complete, and not necessarily the secondary. I was just saying that not many interviews have been given out yet, so depending on how they review applications (if they are going in chronological order or cherry picking people) that if you are an otherwise competitive applicant, one should go ahead and apply and not be afraid of it being "too late" so to say to submit the secondary. Regardless, one should always send in the application as early as possible.

Its nice to see some movement from NYCOM sending out interview invites. Hopefully that means they'll be sending out the first batch of acceptances soon!

Don't take my word on it! lol. Its just a guess based on what I've seen in the thread so far, or a hypothesis.

do you think they're gonna keep sending out invites in batches tho? like every two weeks or something.

Just received an email offering an interview invite. I completed my secondary Sep 20th

when did you complete your primary? and are you still planning to interview at NYCOM? I know Lake Eerie is much closer to Rochester than NYCOM.

I completed my primary July 20th but didn't receive the secondary until Sept 18ish. I probably will still plan to interview. I have a lot of friends that attend the school and who also live in the area..from my undergraduate school. If I get accepted into NYCOM, then I will have to weigh my options on whether to accept or delcine.

Has anyone gotten in without a physician reco letter? Just wanted to see if its worthwhile to wait to submit secondaries w/out it since I am still waiting on that letter.

Thanks!

Acceptances haven't gone out yet this year, but I know people who've gotten in without one in past years.

You can submit without it though and still send it afterward. When I showed up for the interview they went over to make sure your file was complete and they noted they received my DO LOR, which I had sent after sending in the secondary.

Maan, we're pretty similar, except that I'm 3.5/28Q/OOS and complete with updated MCAT in Oct (primary and stuff out by August). Waiting is a bummer, but good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply. Did you attach any letter with your sec saying that a reco letter is yet to arrive? Otherwise, wont they think the file is already complete if you made your payment?

No, I didn't attach anything or say who was writing it, because I was unsure who would be willing to write one. IMHO, LOR are more important for post-interview review.

For anyone who has already interviewed, has anyone heard back with a decision?

The suspense is killing me!

Yeah, this wait is difficult, but I don't think anyone will hear back until next week.

Totally agree...I interviewed on Nov. 11th.....and the assistant said it would be roughly in a month.....finger crossed lol.......

Good luck to everyone waiting for their interviews/decisions....NYCOM is the best!!!

Hi everyone!

I couldn't take it anymore and called NYCOM this morning. I saw in past threads that some had success finding out their decision over the phone, particulary individuals in my boat with a couple of deposits due at other schools.... this week. The woman was nice, (but did not ask for my name or anything) and politely said that "letters will be going out shortly". I guess we all know they're coming soon, but not soon enough if you ask me! Bye bye $1500 😎

Good luck everyone!! And to those with up-coming interviews at NYCOM, you're going to love it!!

when do you think they'll send out the next batch of invites? it seems like they're speeding it up recently.

Yep -- This has been one of the most miserable waits EVER. Esp when you interviewed on Nov 3rd! Goodluck to everyone who is waiting for a response/interview. Keep your heads up! I'll post as soon as I hear anything, hopefully it's good :xf:

I also sent out a 1500 dollar deposit to hold my spot...the price we must pay for a secure future. However, my school time frames were not as close as yours. Hopefully by the time I find out NYCOM's decision on me, I will already know if I have other interviews. Good luck.

I totally feel your misery, I was there Nov 3 too. The wait has been unbearable. Especially when you have friends who interviewed after you at other schools and got accepted before you. Oh well, we waited this long what's another week? Good luck! I hope we all get some good news for the holidays!

Hey! How did you send out your deposit before hearing back your decision? They allow you to do it?

Good luck!

Hey! Thanks so much for sharing that info! So you sent them your deposit already???

I think they're talking about acceptances to other locations, since deposits are due this upcoming week for other schools. Which is why this wait is so stressful - I'm waiting as long as I can hoping to hear back from NYCOM before sending money elsewhere.

I'm sorry for not making my post clearer. I had to send in a 1500 deposit for LECOM in October. Which is a great school and loved it... But NYCOM and other new York state schools are also of interest to me.

Does anyone know if NYCOM will only mail out their decisions? Would they also email and/or call us, too?

When people are posting their GPA is 3.5 or whatever is this the science GPA or cumulative GPA?

Anyone out of state receive interview invitations this December? I've still heard nothing... I'm getting a bit restless over this.

OOS Complete end of September. Really stressful not hearing anything at all....

Just gave NYCOM a call to see if I could get my admissions status over the phone. The woman said that she was not allowed to tell me but that the letters were mailed out yesterday!! Hopefully we will get good news soon 😀

Woohoooo!!! What a surprise after coming home from work today! Especially after I felt like I bombed the interview and got grilled pretty hard.

Accepted!!! I get the chance to stay in NY now and at a great school.. and more of a chance to practice in this area. Congrats to everyone else today!! And good luck to those interviewing soon. Hope it goes well for you and you enjoy your interview day (better than I did, but even if you feel like it went bad there's still hope)
