Something to keep in mind (it's kind of obvious, but it bears mentioning): Although it's true that this is early in the interview season for NYCOM, that only means that they start interviewing later in the year than most schools (possibly to avoid accepting a lot of people who will end up getting into an MD program, and turning down their NYCOM acceptance. before anyone kills me, i'm not saying that no one applies there specifically wanting to go to D.O. school. they do. but NYCOM gets a lot of applications from people who want to go MD and want to go to school in NY and use NYCOM as a backup plan.) Anyway, the late interview cycle does NOT mean that people wait until later in the year to apply to NYCOM. people submit their AACOMAS as early as possible and many people are invited for an interview before they even submit their secondary. As we all know, the later you apply to schools, the greater the disadvantage. NYCOM is no exception to that rule, regardless of when they start their interview season. Even if you have the stats and EC's they are looking for in their applicants, you will still interview much later than a similar applicant who submitted 3 months before you did, and later interview=less available spots or waitlist.
Don't want to be a downer. Just keeping things in perspective.🙂
