Nymc Just Emailed Me!

just got the nymc e-mail, 12 weeks to the DAY. phew.
now, anyone know how quickly we have to respond tot his e-mail by? do we wait until we recieve the letter via snail mail and then respond? gracias!
 
I think they may want a two week turnaround regarding acceptance offers and deposits so that they can gauge how many spots they have left to fill for the next adcom meeting. I just responded that I accepted their offer and would complete the materials once I received them 🙂
 
Does anyone know if NYMC looks at the waitlist at all before May 15th? I got waitlisted in January, and returned the card saying that I wanted to be waitlisted, but my status never changed on the webpage. Now it suddenly says they mailed a decision to me on Feb 15...I'm confused. Can they dump you off the waitlist? I didn't think so, but now I'm not sure what's going on...I haven't received anything from them, email or snailmail. I'm thinking about calling them on Monday to see if they actually mailed me something or not, since its been a while since 2/15. Anyone have an idea whats going on?😕

Does anyone know if NYMC has an upper cut-off for MCAT scores? I've looked through MD applicants and haven't found a single 40+ MCAT that got an interview (but several applied).
 
NYMC hasnt sent out interviews in a while....hoping to snag one of the last dates.

I sent one over the weekend...they haven't had the opportunity to read it yet. I'm trying to decide if I should call them tomorrow, or make sure nothing comes in the mail first...

If they were following their well-established pattern, the last group should have gone out the 21st (maybe pushed back to the 22nd for President's Day). Sometimes it's every three weeks, though, so hopefully they'll send out a batch this Weds. that'll include you.

On the other hand, you may be about to snag my Stony spot, so not sure if I should be wishing you luck for my only other interview place as well. 😉
 
Any recent news of acceptances? I interviewed on Nov. 29th and have yet to hear anything. It's been almost 13 weeks now!!

When I called today, the secretary mentioned she couldn't check my file because the admissions committee was meeting today.

I'm always suspicious that they just make stuff up to get you off the phone.

Interviewed 10/3, they sent me a card asking me if I want to be on the waitlist at the end of December.
 
Well, if that's true, we should (hopefully) be hearing from them sometime soon....

I had tried to call today, as well, and a recording came on stating that the admissions office was closed. I guess they didn't want us to pester them anymore today lol.
 
anybody know what the turn around time will be if i interview tommorrow? Is it still the 12 weeks this late in the game?

11/29 like MissyMD. I wonder who she is. My interview group wasn't that big....I'm blond and was wearing *gasp* a grey suit so that pretty much gives me away :laugh:

I received an email acceptance this morning, and I interviewed on 12/04 at NYMC. Good luck to those waiting!
 
Anyone interview on 12/14 get anything today? those of you that did get something did you send any letters besides a thank you letter or have you guys call alot?
 
how often are they sending out acceptances? Does the adcomm meet bi-monthly, mothly, or weekly? Sounds like they email you for an acceptance. What about a rejection or waitlist?

Sorry, very specific questions. Just curious if anyone is clued in on this stuff.

I know rejections and waitlists come via snail mail. The acceptances come out in random batchs. The last batch came in early Feb. I have no idea when the committee meets. Good luck :luck:
 
do the send the acceptances for one batch out all in one day?
 
I wonder when the cutoff was? Did anyone get accepted who interviewed as on December 11? Or later?
 
i interviewed on 12/05 and didn't receive an email of any sort...either rejection/WL coming by snail mail or it's right after cutoff date (wishful thinking)??

I actually think I forgot to mail a thank you letter to NYMC (woops), but I did update them 2-3 weeks ago about recent news re: research publications I'll be involved in. Other than that, I haven't called or anything. I can't imagine it would hurt to keep the admissions committee posted about what you've done since the interview and that you're still interested in their school.

It is actually still blank under "Decision" on my status page.

As for Morriske---I definitely know who you are! I was the short, blonde girl from Staten Island, in a black skirt suit. Congrats!!!!!!!

I also interviewed then and I also have not received an email. BLAH!
 
I interviewed on 12/17 or 12/18. Still have not heard a word.
 
I was emailed last friday (March 1st) for an interview! It isn't until April 11th, but still, I'm excited! I'm going to be a little out of my element being that I'm a Minnesota boy. I'll have to keep a check on my long "o"s (boat, don't ya know, eh?, etc) I've emailed somebody form the host student program, but if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate it. I've never really been out there. It looked like White Plains would be the best place to fly into. Any suggestions?
 
If you're looking to save some cash, I'd recommend flying into NYC. There are bus services from both LaGuardia and JFK that will take you to Grand Central, and from there you can hop a train to White Plains. Plane tickets are generally a lot less expensive flying into the major airports, and it's a great excuse to get out and see one of the greatest cities in the world, even if it's just for a couple of hours.

Good luck! I'm a MN res, too, and I've found everyone to be just as friendly out east as they are in the midwest.
 
Thats a great idea and sounds much more fun. I'll look into that for sure. Are train tickets reasonably priced? And would a cab be the best way to get from White Plains to where I'm going?

Yes and yes.

A train ticket will cost between 12-16-ish RT (depends on peak or off-peak times for each leg). That's pretty decent for the distance.

Once you get off the train, you'll definitely want to take a cab; the bus will take forever. Might as well splurge on the 10 or so the cab costs.
 
They emailed me for invite, I believe I will decline, hopefully one of you gets it.

Does anybody have any idea how NYMC compares to Creighton, as far as reputation is concerned? I've been accepted to Creighton, but I like the idea of getting out of the midwest for a bit. Maybe there isn't much of a difference. Just curious.
