Thanks! 3.8 grad gpa and 21 DAThey! Hope u get in soon! Do you mind sharing your stats??
the interview was very conversational. They asked me very general questions like tell me about yourself.congrats! Any interview advice? Also do u mind sharing ur stats
I took a gap year and got accepted yesterday. Best case-scenario in my opinion, get a full time job. During my interview, my interviewer told me how they find students who go into dental school after a gap year especially those who work full time, more mature and professional because they have experience in a serious work environment. I work in IT currently, so I am doing a career change. And if you cant, just simply get a part-time job and save money, and be honest with them. You can also use Coursera to take an easy free course about Intro to Dental Medicine, you can also learn how to play an instrument or pick up painting to work on your dexterity skillsHey! Anyone take a gap year and successfully gain admission? I am planning on taking a gap year and have pretty decent stats, but am confused on what exactly looks best for a gap year for NYU admission. TY for the help!
I sent it to the DDS, post interviewer, director of admissions and the admissions committee!Did anyone send a thank you letter to the post interview representative or the admission committee member?
Not full yetAnyone know how full the class is at this point?
Do you mind sharing your stats? & when you submitted?Just got an invite for an interview mid-February, any advice?
Post-Dec acceptance most likely only have 15 days. And the same for previous cycles regardless of the covid or not.My portal says I have until February 16th to make a decision and deposit (15 days from my acceptance), but I was wondering if we should have gotten 30 days since Acceptance day was Dec 15th this year and not Dec 1st. Has anyone reached out and asked?
I got accepted somewhere else today and they gave me a month. Maybe it's different this year?Post-Dec acceptance most likely only have 15 days. And the same for previous cycles regardless of the covid or not.
I got accepted last monday and I graduated with a BS last may. So I don't think soIs it pretty common that people have master's degrees that matriculate into the dental class? I interviewed the other day and it seemed like 75+% of the other students had masters degrees.
Early September@98dent20 Congrats, when did you apply?
No but it does make you more competitiveIs it pretty common that people have master's degrees that matriculate into the dental class? I interviewed the other day and it seemed like 75+% of the other students had masters degrees.
It says they will review mid spring so probably not super quickalso got my waitlist around that time. anyone know if their waitlist moves quickly?
When did you interview??Waitlisted ten minutes ago.... savage
This Thursday. Applied mid Jan. Wbu? Did you interview/ get accepted? When did you interview??
Same interviewed on Thursday! Haven’t heard back from themThis Thursday. Applied mid Jan. Wbu? Did you interview/ get accepted?
Most if not all schools don't send you a rejection after interview. You'll be on the waitlist indefinitely until at least May, then they'll reject you or just not tell you anything.Does anyone know if NYU sends out flat rejections? Getting waitlisted the day after seems pretty fast.
It's not 75% but it's pretty common. I'd reckon around 10%-25% of any NYU class at a given time would have a masters. Is it pretty common that people have master's degrees that matriculate into the dental class? Thank you!!they dont update aadsas, its just via portal and email
There were invites sent out probably 10ish days ago? I had an interview last week and the schedule was open for interviews the entire week- waitlist the follow day :/has anyone gotten an interview invite in the past week?
Based on previous years they will still be conducting interviews.Does anyone know if they're still sending out interviews?
Thank you for the helpful tips! Really appreciate it. If we have already sent a letter of interest, would it be okay to call as well? What exactly do you suggest say when calling the admissions?hello everyone, I got waitlisted last year in Janauary and got accepted in March. I am currently a D1 at NYU Dental. A lot of people have been messaging me asking how I got off, so I just wanted to share here.
My GPA was not high, and my DAT score was average. I did have great extracurriculars, a great essay, and good LOR.
During your waitlist period, what I would recommend for you to do is:
-SHOW INTEREST (call, email a letter of intent)
-UPDATE YOUR APPLICATION with relevant pertinent hours of shadowing and LOR.
This will show that you are interested and competitive. They want to offer you a spot if they know you are serious.
The NYU waiting list moves fast. Do not be discouraged or upset. A lot of the people in my D1 class were waitlisted too.
Good luck to all, I hope the waitlisters gett off soon, I know how frustrating it might be.

Congrats! Are you from NY?Interviewed on feb 3rd, got accepted through the portal on Friday
I was extremely annoying and I thought that because of that, they would not like me. But I got accepted,so I guess my persistence was good in this situation. I would talk about your interest and that if you are given an offer, you will 100% take itThank you for the helpful tips! Really appreciate it. yesDid you send a letter of interest to the school before getting an interview?
do you mind sharing what you included in the letter? I have sent 2 since december and havent heard anything from the ADCOMs, so I'm wondering if I am missing something.
