Tip of the iceberg...If we ask them to waive the deposit or have it extended until April will they do that if we promise to attend? Idk how people are paying for this / getting the money for this in a pandemic...........
You had a group interview as well as a one-on-one? Or was this in the intro session? No I’m not international, but I’d say 4 out of 12 in my group were international.
interview was very nice, me and the interviewer actually had similar hobbies so the interview was very casual.
What...?! Seriously??? What was your stat? Do you also think your interview was "conversational" and "casual"?got rejected today
unfortunately yes, i didnt interview.What...?! Seriously??? What was your stat? Do you also think your interview was "conversational" and "casual"?
lol usually people say sorry to hear that before demanding stats but I applied 08/28. Stats: UG GPA 2.6 Grad GPA: 3.8 DAT: AA/TS 21/21when did you apply? mind sharing stats?
I wish you my best luck!!unfortunately yes, i didnt interview.
you got notified today? I am still waiting as well probably going to be a decline as well 🙁got rejected today
It was incredibly conversational. As long as you have a basic knowledge of dentistry and can recall some shadowing experience and have looked into NYU a little you'll be 100% fine. My interviewer and I were laughing and having a good time. They're very kind people just be natural.Does anyone here have any interview tips, I really don’t want to mess it up!
I believe decisions go out first 2 weeks of February. Some people mention getting an acceptance the next day so you should also fall into that timeline.Hey guys! I have my interview on Jan 29. I know.. that's the closest date before the end of the application cycle, so it will be very competitive for me to get my spot. Right now, I have no doubt that I'll be also performing well and enjoying the interview just like most of you guys said. But I just want to know how my stats will guarantee my admission. So far, NYU is the only hope I have. And did you guys hear back about the admission decision right after you finished the interview?
GPA: 3.94/4.00
DAT: AA25/TS25/PA24/RC22
When’s your interview, I’m wondering the same thinginvited for interview today. Was wondering if my chances of acceptance would be low since I'm interviewing post-December

Was it open file?It was incredibly conversational. As long as you have a basic knowledge of dentistry and can recall some shadowing experience and have looked into NYU a little you'll be 100% fine. My interviewer and I were laughing and having a good time. They're very kind people just be natural.

Yeah got notfied this evening, dont lose hope I had a meeting with them on wednesday and he said they interview up until end of feb/beginning of march. Send a letter of interest if you can 🙂 youve got thisyou got notified today? I am still waiting as well probably going to be a decline as well 🙁
Some people said their interviewers were not dentistry-related faculties. Do they still ask you about dentistry in depth? It was incredibly conversational. As long as you have a basic knowledge of dentistry and can recall some shadowing experience and have looked into NYU a little you'll be 100% fine. My interviewer was a dentist. A global speaker. We talked about implants because he’s done research on implants and we also discussed NYUs notoriety in the world. We just talked. It wasn’t so much question and answer. And the questions he did ask were just about myself. THOUGH I have to stress each interviewer is different. I have no idea the hand you might be dealt. Practice SDN previous questions and you should be fine.Oh! and does the interviewer ask us about ethical questions or other scenario questions?
the group session is on zoom and the actual interview with faculty and admissions is on another platform. For those of you who've already interviewed, is the interview on Zoom? I only got an interview schedule, but it didn't specify the platform.
Yeah what is up with the $5000 deposit. It is ridiculous.
how does the group session look like? Is it just question/answer?the group session is on zoom and the actual interview with faculty and admissions is on another platform.
I have my interview soon but I never received an interview questionnaire. When/where did they send that for you?I ended up writing a completely different essay for the AADSAS essay and the portal. To answer "Why NYU is a good fit" I wrote more about how NYU's diversity, location, and outreach is where I would feel comfortable and be able to fit in.

It’s on the nyu portal! Right above where the interview schedule isI ended up writing a completely different essay for the AADSAS essay and the portal. The group session he’s referring to isn’t an interview. It’s just asking current students any questions you might have. The administrator also leaves so it’s just your group and the student. Not a determining factor in your interview just strictly for your curiosity.how does the group session look like? Is it just question/answer?
Okay, thank you! I had a couple more questions, can I PM you?It was incredibly conversational. Tufts estimated cost of you take out full amount is around 592k and NYU is around 658k factoring in interest, COL, and what not for both. NYU has small clinical groups that seperate amongst their large class. This break you into a group of 30 So it’s factored in a way where you have a good faculty to student ratio. NYU also has great facilities. I don’t know too much about Tufts though.can anyone give me some insights on choosing dental school between Tufts and NYU? I want to live in NY but Tufts's new facility and low faculty:student ratio is appealing..I'm not yet sure about whether I will specialize or not
No but they talked about it in an interview and I have a good friend that goes thereare you currently a student at NYU? cost of living doesn't matter to me since it's not that big of a difference
Yes that part is true. But that’s not because of the education. Majority of students who attend love the education. I can’t attest to exact reasons because I’m not a student but I would assume it’s partly due to people not managing time well due to the active nightlife. The students were mentioning there were some individuals in their class that go out everynight. There were also some courses that a test decided your grade to which they removed recently and it’s less impactful. But my friend isn’t someone who would sugarcoat for a school as we grew up together and he said he loves the faculty and lectures.I see, I also heard about 20 out of 380~D1s or D2s repeat their academic years. Is it true?
I saw it thank you! Did you fill out the “other dental school applications” part? Do we just list every single school we’ve applied to?It’s on the nyu portal! Right above where the interview schedule is
I spoke to someone who is a D4 there and she said that's not true.I see, I also heard about 20 out of 380~D1s or D2s repeat their academic years. Is it true?
If you go to last years thread you’ll see multiple current NYU students talking about it.I spoke to someone who is a D4 there and she said that's not true.
My friend heard back 2 days after the interview with an acceptance.I have my interview on the 29th does anyone know how early I could hear back from them?
wow 2 days! When did your friend interview? My friend heard back 2 days after the interview with an acceptance.
mid Januarywow 2 days! When did your friend interview?
Ohh wow that's fast! I hope I get an acceptance within two daysMy friend heard back 2 days after the interview with an acceptance.
Very likely. I believe next batch of acceptances will occur first two weeks of February.Ohh wow that's fast! I hope I get an acceptance within two days
The deadlines have been pushed back, so technically the 2 week deposit requirement begins February 15th. At least according to ADEA.During my interview last week they said we should be hearing the first week of February but once February hits, any acceptances that are sent out we only have two weeks to put down the deposit to save our seats, so i think that is why they are waiting til February to send acceptances out.
I have mine tomorrow morning as well!! I talked to a lot of NYU dental students and they all said as long as you know the basic questions you should be good 😁I have my interview tomorrow morning.... Extremely nervous. Just had a mock interview with my friends and he asked me a bunch of questions that I was not prepared for. Although he said these questions are unlikely to come up but still... ha... idk guys. I basically prepared my answers for the general questions.. should it be enough
