From what I know, it can go up to $25k per year but haven’t heard of any amount that’s higher. Typically only about 10% of the incoming class gets some sort of scholarship so it’s pretty competitive.

Sorry, I don't know what time because it just said the date the update is posted. I also just checked my portal and found out I got in today.
 
I am in the waitlist after being interviewed in early February, what is my chance of getting in?

You need to email them and call them. Tell them this is your #1 school and you are 100% committed and would go there over any other school- if it is true.

If you do some research you will see this is a true-fire method for getting off the waitlist. It seems they might waitlist some people just to see how committed they are at attending NYU.
 
does anyone know if they are still interviewing? I have sent a letter of interest and a few updates but I still have not had my status change.

They interview through March. I interviewed with them on Tuesday and admissions said that their class is not full yet so we’re interviewing for a seat in the class, not a spot on the waitlist! Call and ask questions about the school, update them on activities and just show that you really want to attend and that NYU is your top choice!

I called them and I emailed them around 3 times this month, and I was sent an email stating that they know i am committed, so they sent me an email to do a waitlist information session today.
 
Have you guys use the DDS Virtual Visit by any chance to talk to the admissions? I know it says that they will not go over specific question regarding your application, but wondering if any of you tried this and got a luck receiving interviews or etc.. thanks.

Did you provide any supporting material? Letters of rec, life updates, etc.

I'm not going to tell you that doing the info session will get you in, but it will improve your chances.
You were granted an interview, so that means they see you as a potential candidate. There's still plenty of spots left so I'd say your chances are higher than you think.
 
Did everyone get the waitlist info session email or just some people on the waitlist? I'm a little confused on what it means

Provided a lot of supporting material. I am about to finish my masters in mid-april, and i have all A's and B's as far midterms are concerned. They just want to see grades is what I think it was. Not sure what else.

I am an international student. So the stats requirement might be higher than the average.
My interview is very laid back! My best advice to you would be know the inns and outs of your application!

GPA: 3.8 DAT 25

That’s probably it. Once they see your final grades they will probably give the green light, since they want to see if you can handle your master’s.

I think you might’ve got a different person or caught her on a bad day because my experience (calling and being called) were pleasant.
I think they have multiple people on the admissions taking calls so don’t be too afraid.

Hi guys,
My interview is on the 23rd, a little nervous. Any tips/advice to what types of questions they asked during the interview? Besides the basic tell me about yourself and why nyu. Thanks!
 
Anybody have their waitlist info session and is willing to give details? Is it just like a zoom session where someone talks and allows questions or is it more of a personal one-on-one thing? I have mine tomorrow and dont know what to expect
 
Hey guys, I got accepted to NYU 2 days after interviewing with them and they gave me a 30,000 acceptance scholarship. NYU was actually one of my top choices but due to my circumstances, I have chosen to go to a different school simply because of living expense differences in the areas (have a small family etc). I was actually extremely sad when I declined the offer this morning- I am almost in tears. However, this opens up a spot for someone else whose position I could have been in. Good luck future dentists! Also some of my interview tips:
1. Stand out- if you've had an interesting job or hobby, talk about it
2. Make sure you have a defining story of an example of leadership or an ethical dilemma. When I told a certain story about a place I worked at and me changing certain procedures and policies, this really stood out to the schools and got accepted to each one I told the story to vs the others where I didn't.
3. Be yourself but be professional. Most of these people interviewing you are doctors but at the end of the day human. Be interested in them and their lives- ask questions about them and also be a bit conversational.
4. You got this. I almost gave up considering this is my second time applying but after talking with many doctors and peers at work the consensus I got was DONT GIVE UP. TRY AND TRY AGAIN. If I didn't get accepted this cycle, I would have tried for a 3rd. Keep going, if you don't see yourself doing anything else and you have worked hard AF to get to where you are, keep going.

Wow, first of all, congratulations! I'm sorry, you could not attend NYU, but I'm positive you'll do great at the other school too.

Did you know who was interviewing you beforehand? Like the name of the faculty. Also, I am aware there are two different people who interview you, the first is a faculty member and the second is an administrative representative. Is the one with the administrative representative, with a current dental student and was it a repetition of the same types of interview questions? Thanks!

Hey. No I did not know. The first one was a faculty/ Doctor and the second one was an administrative rep. They were both super super nice. In fact, interviewing at NYU was so awesome- I had the best interview there, which is why it was so hard to decline the offer.

It’s with an admission representative. Mine was with the assistant dean of admissions and that’s it, no dental students present until the Q&A. A few of the questions were the same but the overall interview was different in my experience. I heard some say that it was similar.
