Thus ends another week of absolutely no frickin' news.

Maybe Monday will be the day... One more profile on MDapps today.

Ok, just spent way too much time on MD apps. Average MCAT of the MD acceptances: 36.75, average GPA: 3.88. Both of the MD candidates with a listed January acceptance are late interviewees (11/30 and 12/12) and URMs. 7/17 did not say when they were interviewed/accepted.

Pffft... well, they're past my interview date. Denied. I'm not too torn up about it, because honestly, after some of the inappropriate comments during/after my interview... I wouldn't go there anyway, even though I loved NYC dearly when I was there.

Argh! I had a lovely dream that I was accepted by NYU. I probably should've noticed something was up when I started traveled from my school to home in a few seconds. Lucid dreams are not my forte.

this begs the question: what sort of inappropriate comments?

as for my own sour grapes, it's the money issue. nyu doesn't seem to give out much grant money, and i'm in at schools that have better financial aid. so although i love the location and the clinical opps at the school, in the end money would probably tell me where to go anyway.

i think i see the profiles you mention. both accepted on 1/18? i'm giving nyu one more week before i expect a rejection or waitlist. i could see how an adcom would give urms a shot before other applicants who interviewed at the same time.

how do u see who got in where and what their stats are?

hey, does anybody know if NYU is still offering interviews? i've been complete there since august and haven't heard anything, so...

oh NO they DI'IN'T!!! should i just go ahead and withdraw my app or wait for the rejection letter?

you should do the classy thing and send them a premature rejection letter, signed "pwned!"

It's obvious that they sent out acceptances to their most desireable applicants, so everyone still have hope!

Also, why is everyone bashing this school? Yes, you might not have gotten in yet... but why do you need to justify your rejection? I know it's a defense mechanism so that you don't feel rejected emotionally, but come on.

If you got in this school you'de be the biggest proponent, yet now your bashing?

NYU is a great school, I loved it and personally can't wait to hear from them. Yet... if I get rejected fine, they're still an amazing school.

No, not really. I mean, don't get me wrong. I like NYU. It's a very fine institution and perhaps out of all my interviews, I felt like I clicked with the students there the most. That said, after mulling over my experiences there and discussing my interview with my parents, I'm about 90% sure I wouldn't go there over Pitt despite truly loving NYC.

:luck: to you all.

Either way, I'm out.

i admit it does play a defense mechanism role for me. but regardless, no, nyu was never at the top of my list. i'm a bigger proponent of cornell and stanford (whether or not they accept me). if nyu weren't located where it is, it would not be nearly so sought after by applicants. as far as schools themselves go, from the ones i've visited i'd put pitt, case, chicago, cornell, and stanford above nyu. but because nyu is located where it is, i put pitt, case, and chicago at the same level as nyu for my personal preferences (apart from financial aid considerations). it would suck to not have nyu as an option if stanford and cornell both reject me, but it won't be the end of the world.

edit: and i don't consider myself to be bashing nyu. if anything i'm trying to have a more realistic view of the school by toning done my regard for the city it's in.

sorry, but what's a URM?

i really hope that you guys are wrong about them being done accepting people who interviewed before 12/12.

I don't think that the order they're sending out acceptances has much of anything to do with when people were interviewed. That was a rumor started early on from a "trend" within the first day of acceptances.

haha, aka "sdn fact."

At least I certainly hope they weren't going in order. Cuz when you list a couple seasons of "Viking Quest" as an extracurric, they interview you early.

I agree, that was totally a rumor that we've all been clinging onto in order to bring some method to NYU's madness. But maybe we should just call it what it is: randomness...and the only date that we've been given is 2/15, at which point, if I haven't received an email, I will agree that it's time to throw in the towel on an outright NYU acceptance.

I'm telling you... tomorrow is the day.

The last real "batch" went out on a Monday. Their last interview date was January 19th. Therefore, they have had all of last week to debate their entire applicant pool. I predict a second wave of acceptances tomorrow and I hope I am boogeyboarding on that fricken wave.

then let's go surfing now. good luck everyone.

This anxiety is keeping me awake... I'm gonna be a zombie for lab tomorrow
😱

Sorry, interviews were done on the 19th.

How can this be possible if the deadline for submitting the secondary is January 31st 2007? They must still be inviting people for interviews.

I am still waiting. This is my first time posting in this thread as I have been watching the anxious posts from everyone else. NYU seems so random in their process with the acceptances. Hopefully, this week things start moving once again and a lot of people who have been posting in this thread receive some great news in their inbox! The anxiety is overwhelming....!

Yeah, they've made their first move today. Good luck, everybody. (For those who are curious, I interviewed in mid-October.)

Regards...and congrats once more!

This acceptance back on December 18th... a Monday, was at 9:29 AM EST. Maybe it gave them time to get some breakfast and then press "SEND". Sorry if I'm hyping up today, but I'm so damn excited!

I'm going to be pessimistically optimistic (if that's possible). 😎 😛

i called the 700 club, and pat robertson told me it would be today. so i'm optimistically pessimistic.

NYyanx, way to cause a heart attack by posting that email! im excited too though...i hope it's not over nothing...

and what happened to our 1:30pm time? That was what we were talking about last week.

1:30 is just the time that the two people who claimed to be accepted in January on this thread were accepted. If they do a big batch again, I'm sure it will be throughout a day, if they do it one by one, it'll probably be early afternoon.

I've been nervously reading this thread for a while now, and just wanted to let you know that I'm in the same boat as most of you. I interviewed on 10/31.

Good :luck: to all

nyu has always been my first choice and i nearly choked on my gobstopper when i opened my email. congrats to those who have gotten in and i'm hoping to hear about a lot more acceptances today. good luck everyone.

ps - i bet some of you were wishing that i died of choking, huh? 🙄

Just so I can dream...

What was the subject line of the NYU acceptance e-mail?

I'll know what I'm looking for...

hey! congrats man!

Congrats man... I wish I would hear from them already... good or bad...

about 2 hours left for today

congratulations! it's always great when applicants get their top choice schools.

there hasn't seemed to be any big batches since that first round. maybe they're trickling them out as people decline offers.

or something.

eh.

edit: oh, i see you interviewed first week of january. well then go ahead and stick a fork in me, nyu. i'm done.

I'd love to agree with you Detroit, but people had to confirm their acceptances within 2 weeks. That means all of those people from that big batch in December would have been confirmed or ruled out weeks ago. :-\ Probably most put in their deposits.

3:08 east coast time...and my email inbox is empty...

i interviewed around thanksgiving...is it time to throw in the towel?

Anyone want to volly to call NYU and see if another big batch will go out?

good point, but i think some people would decline as they get into other schools that they know they would rather go to, even after having put down the refundable deposit (or to get the deposit money back sooner).
