I am an allopathic medical graduate applying for residency.
I did an observership for a certain residency program over the summer to get some clinical experience since I am no longer in medical school. Also, I wanted to demonstrate that I am interested in the program and hopefully get an interview in the fall.
I contacted the program after I submitted my application in September.
The program coordinator responded stating that they received my documentation and that I would not be required to have a formal interview and that they will consider my candidacy when they prepare the rank list.
How should I gauge this response?
Can programs rank without a formal interview?
Do applicants who do observerships typically get courtesy interviews?
What should be my next step as I am really interested in this particular program?
Your feedback is kindly appreciated!
