Oceania University of Medicine (OUM) Students!

I am curious to know if there are any OUM students out there who visit the forum?

Can you plz post your experiences with OUM in this thread. I heard good things about OUM course BUT looks like licensing will be the bigger problem in almost 40 states! Its grads are approved by Australian medical council to take their exams for licensing so I guess it gives at least some legitimacy to OUM. AMC usually NEVER does this kind of thing, so its an unusual move on their part...obviously they would have thoroughly investigated OUM otherwise they wouldnt have taken this risky step of announcing it on their website. Anyway, OUMs big problems are in the US and not in Australia. So would be interesting hear from US students of OUM, if any!!

Is there any truth to claims that the only 2 US OUM grads matched this year?

Any Oceania students in this forum? Wow, looks like ppl who enrolled at OUM didnt really do much research regarding the license issues they will face once they finish a residency.

There is so much info on sdn about distance learning and license problems. OUM is not straight forward and doesn't give any straight answers about the license issues, its ridiculous.

This is the Caribbean forum. Most of us don't know anything about med schools in the Pacific. Try the Australasia and Oceania forum. Students over there would probably do a better job of answering your questions.

Yes, but apparently a lot of US students are enrolling because it has a better reputation than IUHS. But it is expensive..close to US $135,000 for 4yrs!!! Holy.....

Again, why would any US student consider OUM given the huge licensing problems they will face after residency (if they get a residency!)??

Which states will actually license them??

Again yo are looking at ONLINE medical schools, where Basic science is done online via internet? This is so bad you cannot believe

there are more then a few states who will not license you and will lable the school a Diploma Mill! This is a bad thing

also look, a school that has been around less then 10 years does not have real reputation yet! No history yet

How many are Licensed Doctors from OUM? that should be your question since this shows it works!
