At my school (good, public university) the sequence was Orchem I lecture (3 credit), Ochem II lecture (3 credits), and one semester Ochem lab (2 credits).
This gives me 8 credits of Ochem--do you think that means I meet many schools' requirements for 1 year or 2 semesters of ochem with labs?
Specifically, anyone know if Wayne State is okay with this?

I'm a non-trad student. I took Ochem I and II years ago during undergrad.
I'd hate to have to take a second Ochem lab after not having taken Ochem for 5+ years...

thanks!

I had similar coursework so I emailed schools that did not mention this scenario on their website. So far, all the schools that have responded say that the two credit hour lab meets their requirement.

I suggest contacting the schools that you need to know about for sure. Make sure you read their website first, of course. I was going to sign up for a one credit lab this spring if I needed the extra semester but so far it looks as though I won't need to.

That's the way that my school does it as well. I think the 2 hour lab meets the requirement. There's probably an advanced orgo lab worth 3 to 4 credit hours for you too. I'm going to take the advanced one my senior year to finish a chem minor

Thank you--I feel much better about this.
I'll just suck it up and call them--I just didn't want to waste the admission office's time, if I could find the answer on-line.

Happy holidays!

And I called them and they said no.
Sigh.

That stinks, so you'll have to take another semester of ochem lab?

I have yet to hear from a couple schools. Knowing my luck they will be the ones that tell me no too.

Well I have an acceptance to a school that only requires 1 year with 1 lab--so I meet their requirements at least (thank god).
However, I have an acceptance to this school too and was hoping to have a choice!
I can't get into any ochem classes around here--there are already waitlists.
Blah. I really liked this school, but I have enough to do next semester without taking an ochem class that will definitely require a lot of attention.
Basically, I'm not sure yet. Most likely I'll withdraw my acceptance and enjoy life next semester instead. haha

Good luck to you!

Thanks! The schools I'd be mostly to attend are all good to go for me too, but I wouldn't want to limit my opportunities, same as you.

I was fortunate enough to realize this possible problem just in time to get one of the last spots in the class so I can drop my spot before the semester begins once I know for sure.
