Invitation extended by telephone for choice of 2/15 or 2/18. Interview consists of (1) a meeting with two members of the admissions committee for 15-20 minutes; (2) a meeting with the Program Director; and (3) a tour of the campus. Of 255 applications, 36 applicants will be extended interviews. Of 36 interviewees, 10 will be offered admission.
Best of luck everyone!

Thanks for this info Kellien! I applied to the Virginia Consortium and would really like to interview there ... did you receive a call today? Do you know if the calls are going out today and for the rest of the week? Or just today?

Indiana University of Pennsylvania just sent out invites this morning. Mark

I got one of those invites! My first! At least I know this year won't be a total disappointment. Did you interview there last year Mark? If you did can I PM you?

I received a phone call from Ms. Candace Shorter (administrative function?) this afternoon. I can only surmise as to the communication schedule, but the conversation was brief, even with several questions posed. She could easily have contacted all interviewees in a two hour period. Again, only a surmisal.

Keep the Faith!🙂

anyone heard from or know when interviews are for virginia tech, george washington university, or university of delaware? (all clinical phd)

Guys...come on...enough with the "Has anybody heard from this school?" if you have not checked the list first! It's so redundant...I'd rather read people's announcements that they have received an invite than seeing the third request about School X when it's alread been posted on the list...

This morning I read through every post from last Thursday night on and SO many people have asked about whether or not invites have gone out for schools that are already listed on the master list of this thread for having sent out invites.

The master list can be found by clicking the "First" page above and reading Blindchaos's thorough and regularly-updated list. Don't forget to use the search option above too, it says, "Search this thread." You can put in a school name and find every instance it has been typed previously.

Thanks. Sorry. It's wearing me out.

PS, when you search this thread, all you get is a message that says I did not answer a spam question correctly, only they never asked a question in the first place. anyone know why this is happening? Maybe I am just missing some obvious step?

Quick update on New School - after checking my application status online, my writing sample was listed as missing. It was submitted electronically with the rest of my application, and was present in the .pdf that was generated of my entire application. I spoke to someone in their admissions office on the phone, and it seems this may be a software glitch in their application system. I emailed them the .pdf of my submitted application, and everything should get sorted out.

I don't want to push the panic button too hard, but this can either be an error within the New School application, or on Embark as a whole. I'm pretty sure that New School was the only program I applied to that required a writing sample, but I may follow up with a couple of other programs just to be sure.

If you applied there, I suggest following up just to be sure!

I got that before I got an SDN account. After I got an account I had no problem (the SPAM question appeared within the context of creating an account).

Try signing in and signing back out or closing your browser and restarting? Hope that helps.

If anyone is looking for invites from Xavier they are *supposed* to go out this weekend. FYI.

i got an email from uni of florida saying they are making final decisions on interviewees tonight.

I contact the psych department at University of Wisconsin, Madison and although the person didn't seem 100% sure, he said applicants should be informed mid April! 😱

Psych4life, the deadline for accepted students to make a final decision is April 15th. Perhaps that's what the guy at Wisconsin-Madison was talking about? I don't think a top program like Wisconsin would wait that long to tell people!

my guess would be that whoever you spoke with DID NOT know what they were talking about if this was for clinical psychology. mid april - april 15 normally - is not only tax day but the day where all things end for clinical psych applicants.... you must be told of an offer and accept or recline by then. last year that was a weekend so it extended to the next monday.

regardless, id say this person was confused. or im wrong... who knows?

A post-doc in my lab attended the JDP and she said admissions is ALWAYS so tough for SDSU/UCSD because there are SO many faculty members and there is literally a lottery for which faculty members get to accept a new student. Sometimes you get lucky and your POI is accepting, and sometimes you don't. This is one school where sometimes, no matter HOW qualified and HOW great of a match you are, you just might get unlucky and not be accepted at all ... it still didn't deter me from applying. She had such great things to say about the program -- I hope I hear some good news soon!

Also, she talked to her mentor about apps and they got a ridiculous amount of apps this year, that's apparently why they are taking so long. She saw him last Friday.

I have no idea if you'll have the answer to this, but... on SDSU/UCSD's website they listed all of the professors and said which ones would/would not be accepting students for this coming year. However, some that were even listed as accepting students said they were not once I E-mailed them. Anyway, I applied and it's all said and done, but after the fact I realize there was another professor there that is a PERFECT match for me, but she's listed under not accepting students. Do you think there's a chance she could be taking students since you say SDSU's profs go into a lottery to see who will be taking someone? I didn't list her on my application at all, which obviously isn't helpful, but it's a pretty obvious match (my research is quite specific) so I'm sure they'd be able to match us up. Do you think it's possible that could happen? I don't know of any way I could edit my application and add her name on... Oh well...

haha.

id say wine. makes you sad then sleepy!

I vote for rum - pleasant as you drink it, nice after you’ve drunk enough, and then you get the pleasure of saying afterwards, "Why is the rum gone?" :d

Do you know how they are supposed to go out? (ie: e-mail, snail mail, phone call) Just wondering what I should obsess over - my mailbox, computer, or phone

is anyone here applying to school psych programs too? i am dying to hear about kent, arizona state, and lehigh school psych programs!!!:scared:

I applied to 11 school psych doctoral programs, including Lehigh. I have yet to hear anything, though.

I know of one person that got an invite to interview at Lehigh. I have no idea if they are still extending invites but I'll try to get more info and edit this post if/when I hear anything else.

Just incase anyone applied here - my friend just got an invite from her POI (via phone) at UNC - Chapel Hill. She said invites weren't really supposed to go out until Friday though.

I second that motion!! I had lots of rum and cocoa's once I realized I did not get an interview to U Pittsburgh or Maryland, my top two fantasy choices😛 (I am assuming this is the drunk face?).

2.5 months more of stomach turning, waiting to find out if you can commit to anything and anyone for more than 6 months, scared to buy a new dish set, anxiety...people who apply should get an award just for not jumping off of something tall during this process.

I am at the point in my career (even though I am not in a PhD, I have an MA in Electrophysio Research/Stats) where I am writing letters of references for my own college students and RA's on my research projects. One year, my graduate TA applied to the same school I did, and came to me and asked me to cover the lab he is supposed to teach for me, so that he could go on an interview to this school...of course I did not tell him I applied and did not get an interview as it would be unprofessional. When he came back and told me he was admitted, I drank a bottle of wine and ate a pint of B&J's. The irony of life!

Thrak, re New School - i haven't gotten anything from them yet! fun being nervous about a safety (as in MA program, not in quality).

Received the invite for the interview of Counselor Education in UFL thru e-mail today, the interview date is Feb 22nd.

I know that Louisiana State University (clinical psych, PhD) is already on the list, but I think I remember reading that someone had received an invite before the 1/15 deadline. I got a call & email today from my POI inviting me for the interview (3/7), so I guess they're starting to extend the rest of their invites now.

lovely. i hafta say, since your writing sample was part of the application pdf, which i assume admissions has access to, you'd think part of the $50 admission fee would go toward the admit. officer pressing a few buttons and printing it out again.

end off topic rant.

anyone heard from or know when interviews are for virginia tech, george washington university, or university of delaware? (all clinical phd)

I spoke with someone from GWU last Thursday and she informed me that they were not going to start extending invites until mid February and interviews will likely be the end of February. She didn't sound 100% but that was what I was told. She transfered me to the head of the department but I got his voicemail and decided not to leave a message. I'm going to call again this week but if you get info. please post it. Thanks.

Hmm, wonder why the late start on GWU's part. I'm getting the sense that the week coming up (ending February 8th) is the last "big push" for invites.

Oddly enough, or perhaps not, I had a similar problem with my personal statement submitted online to UTexas-Austin last year. Then they were kind enough not to forward it until after they had reviewed all the files for interview invitations. :\

Got a phone invite for University of Denver's clinical Ph.D. program. Interviews are 2/22 and 2/25. Good luck everybody!

Interview at ASU (for psychology- behavioral neuroscience) on Feb 8th!

I got a phone call this evening (6:00pm) from a professor at GSU saying that my reocmmendations arent there! and that theyre in the midst of making decisions, so my guess is that they havent extended interview invites yet.. and my stress level is up the roof about getting my recommendations in!

So far I've only heard from PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, the e-mail arrived on Jan 26 and said I can come for an interview Feb 4, Feb 11, or March 4

Still waiting to hear from the following (all Clinical Psych PsyD):

-U of Denver

-Baylor

-Rutgers

-Wright State

Anybody heard from these programs?

I think the best way for you to find out is to email the professor directly and see if there is any chance she would be accepting -- I HIGHLY DOUBT that she would be (since she apparently already did not get that ticket) but I don't see any other options unless they allow you to switch mentors (and I haven't heard that yet either ...) Alternatively, if you get an interview, I know that there is a chance to meet all of the psych faculty (at both campuses) so you might have a chance to meet with her an speak with her directly about possible opportunities?

Lastly, if you don't get in anywhere, there's always next year. I would NOT recommend applying to work as an RA in that lab since apparently it works against you ... they do not appear to take their own! That is ONE thing my co-worker told me about the program ...

Oh, well I wouldn't try and be an RA there if I didn't get in. I'm still hoping to get in somewhere else. I just worry that if I E-mail her now she's going to be like.. what are you stupid, applications were due over a month ago! Haha. Oh well. I guess I'll just wait to find out if I'll even get an interview. And then take your advice and try to talk to her then. Thanks. 🙂

Still waiting to hear from the following (all Clinical Psych PsyD): U of Denver -Baylor -Rutgers -Wright State

Anybody heard from these programs?

I also applied to Rutgers, but I haven't heard from them yet. Their interview day for the clinical program is February 25. I noticed from last year's thread that they were still extending invitations through mid-February. So I think we shouldn't start worrying yet. They get A LOT of apps (485 last year) so it probably takes them a while to get through them, and the deadline was late too ... So hang on ... I hope we both get interviews!

FYI just added a boatload of schools so check the first post. 13 new schools/programs added today!!! Congrats everybody!!! 🙂

also, a friendly reminder to *please* spell out the full name of the school when you post/PM the info! Otherwise I'll either be utterly confused not knowing what school "XYZ" is or I'll just take my best guess and hopefully be correct 😛 Thanks!

American University; clinical Ph.D.

invited via phone today for interview on 2/15.

So far I've only heard from PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, the e-mail arrived on Jan 26 and said I can come for an interview Feb 4, Feb 11, or March 4

was that a mass invitation or personal? Do you know if they are done sending out invites?

I have a friend here at work who is wondering if anyone knows about Howard University's interview dates or invites...any takers?

Hmm, wonder why the late start on GWU's part. I'm getting the sense that the week coming up (ending February 8th) is the last "big push" for invites.

GWU's programs tend to be like this: slow and slightly unorganized. People who have called them tell me that they are not answering the phone or e-mail at all, so we're all in the dark right now. (I'm a Psy.D applicant). Those who have gotten through on the phone calls aren't really getting answers about interview dates or information on when we'll know.

If last year's thread is any indication, GW's Psy.D goes out before it's Ph.D. It looked like last years invites were second week of Feb. for Psy.D and third week of Feb. for the Ph.D.

Do you know how they are supposed to go out? (ie: e-mail, snail mail, phone call) Just wondering what I should obsess over - my mailbox, computer, or phone

Last year I got mine via email, followed by snail mail. I don't think they call, but I could be wrong about that.

Even knowing that though, won't you still obsess about the other schools that might be calling?? That's what I was doing this time last year! 🙄

Good luck!!! :luck:

University of Cincinnati - Clinical neuropsychology, e-mail invite from POI, interview day is 2/29

Just got an interview invite from Case Western this morning. Someone from the department called me bright and early. Interview dates are 2/28 and 3/7.

Also, those that interviewed at Louisville last week...lets keep one another posted...decisions are supposed to be made within the next few days 🙂

Another reason i love this thread is because although i'm pretty sure i'm not getting in anywhere this year, i can learn about a whole set of new schools to apply to next year! like Case Western, never heard of it before, checked out the website, and liked it... nice 🙂 haha

Good luck everyone, stay positive!! :0)

Hi all, these two are already posted as extending interviews to candidates on the front page. I just spoke with god at Rutgers (aka the grad secretary), she said ALL of the first round interview invitations have been extended. I'm not too hopeful about this, but she did say they it is not usual to only have one round because of mis-matches with POI's, after the first set of interviews (2/8 according to the first post) they may extend more. I think she was trying to soften the 'nope you're rejected' blow, I don't know how many schools have two rounds of interviews but I guess stranger things have happened. 🙁

I also spoke to the graduate secretary at Drexel. She said she wasn't sure if all of the invitations have been extended. She's going to email me later today to let me know. nice of her.
