A note about Fordham. A friend of mine who attends now got her acceptance about three days after her interview. Just thought you might like to know! Good luck!

Thank you! That's quick decision making! Fordham is my 1st choice. I am already shaking, I am so nervous! I hope your friend is happy there.

I just got a phone call from the St. John's School Psych PsyD program offering me an interview. 🙂 It is for Feb. 15.

I can't believe that they accept people so quickly at Fordham! That's kind of nerve-wracking/exciting!

If anyone is interviewing there, which date are you hoping for? Also, I live in NYC so if anyone needs info on where to stay from out of town, etc...let me know!

I just received an interview invite email from Fordham!

They are holding interviews on 2/13, 2/15, 2/22.

Awesome, congrats!

If I remember correctly, Fordham is close to Arthur Ave... you gotta get some Italian food while you're up there. Better than Little Italy!

and only a few stops below the Botanical Gardens, and a few above the Zoo, both some of the best in the country!

I am hoping for Wednesday the 13th, because I have out of town interviews on the 15th and 22nd. And you?

I live in NYC too 🙂

Same exact thing for me, actually! So maybe I will see you there!

Has anyone else from UCSD/SDSU? I know they are supposed to extend all of their invites by today...

I believe someone posted on this board that they received an interview, but it wasn't me 🙁

I'll keep my hopes up until 5pm PST today.

Has anyone else from UCSD/SDSU? I know they are supposed to extend all of their invites by today...

I'm still waiting...

It is only 10:45AM over there though. I use time zones to calm me. Haha.

I hate the waiting game. I've called Binghamton three or four times today so I could speak with someone and find out when interview invites are going to be extended. I got a machine every single time (and hung up). I hope they don't have caller ID!

I also called Albany and I'm a bit confused. The lady said invites for interviews would be extended in early March. I didn't want to push it, but... that's when the actual INTERVIEW is supposed to be so I'm not sure if this information is accurate.

Okay...so good news is I got a call from Binghamton asking me to come in for an interview...what's weird about the whole thing though is that I was invited by someone who's not my POI...I'm so confused right now because I'm not super interested in this prof's work....does this happen often?

Does anyone know about the procedure at Binghamton? Is the DCT calling people and inviting them and not the POI? Has anyone experienced this as well?

I got the impression that you can change your advisor once you're there but do I just go to this interview in hopes that I will get to work with my POI instead?? I'm soooo confused right now....any help clearing this up would be great!

Anyone else hear from BC Counseling???? I'm getting nervous!!!!!

Ahhhh! When did they call you? Who is your POI/who contacted you? You can PM me if you want. Sorry to seem so frantic, but Binghamton is pretty high on my list.

The DCT is Dr. Lisman... if that's who called you I would say it's safe to assume that he's just the one inviting you and not asking to be your POI. If not... that's strange. Does the professor's interest have anything to do with your's? I would think if it was a different POI he would at least tell you that he was now considering you instead and then ask if you were even interested before inviting you. Very weird.

Got an email from Mississippi State School Psych program.

Interviews are February 28-29th, with phone interviews possible.

My first interview. Yay!

There are still 71 days to april 15th. Anything can happen. Don't lose your hopes. Sometimes people get acceptances on april 14th without interview. Until you are get your official rejection letter don't lose your hopes.

Somehow... that actually cheered me up a bit. Thanks! 🙂 I just wish schools would tell me if I'm on the wait-list, what # I am.. haha.. you know.. something a little more to hold onto.

Got an interveiw invite for Arizona State school psych program 2/22

just to clarify.....are interviews ONLY being extending until today?? So I basically should assume it's a no if I don't hear anything by tonight??

Does anyone else haate all this assuming business? 🙁

Yeah, it's tough. It would be nice of them to just send out rejection letters as soon as they decide on the first cut. That way we wouldn't be kept wondering ...

I am sooo disappointed!!! when does this get better??

Has anyone heard *GOOD* news from Loyola MD?? I know someone said they sent out some rejection letters on 1/29. If something/anything was sent to me on 1/29, I should have gotten it on Friday, but nothing came Friday, Saturday, or today. I'm hesitant to be excited though as it could have just gotten lost in the mail or stuck somewhere due to bad weather. Anyone else in the same boat with Loyola MD?

I live in Baltimore and I haven't heard anything yet either. Hopefully no news is good news.

According to someone who I interviewed with somewhere else today, she received her Loyola invite late last week through mail/email. Interviews are on 2/22.

Not invited/Rejected
U Rochester-clinical confirmed rejection via email, Brain Cog Sci confirmed rejection via email.
UC Davis: Rejection-confirmed via email from Steve Luck (perception phd)
U Maryland: other invited long ago
U Pennsylvania: other invited already
U Cincinnati: others invited already
U Pittsburgh-others already invited

Waiting
U New Mexico: secretary said interviews in March, no invited extended yet
U Nevada Las Vegas: "Interview invitations will not be sent out until mid-February"

I have been emailing the graduate secretaries (and when they suggest it, my POI) and they have either replied quickly to say I am rejected or never replied weeks later. At least this way, I can cross some off my list, and assume some are still considering me. MUCH MUCH better than waiting until April 15th!! In the past years, about half of my schools never even bothered to send me a rejection letter, so I am proactive about getting my answers this year.

Best of luck to everyone...

Invited

Penn State: Feb 22 (All eggs currently in one shaky, poorly woven basket😎 I am so nervous I will screw this up. Any advice for a first time interviewee?

U North Texas (UNT): Interview invite by DCT, for interview on either Feb 22 or 25.

Received an e-mail invite via the department secretary today to the Open House on February 22nd! It's for Central Michigan University's Clinical Psychology program.

It's my first one...I'm thrilled:hardy:!

I did want to give a glimmer of hope to all:

I was invited to an interview and it conflicted with another one (i'm lucky i know, i am counting my lucky stars every day). I e-mailed to ask for alternatives (phone interview, other dates). The POI said that if I did not accept the interview on that day he would offer it to someone else. That someone else could be you! (because I did end up declining the interview for the other school, which seemed like a better match)

Best of luck!

This may be a long shot, because I've never seen anyone mention this program at all on SDN, but did any one apply to/hear from the University of Hawaii?

Hey all,

I'm new to SDN, congrats to all on interviews and my empathy is with everyone playing the waiting game as I am too. Thought I'd post a little Loyola news since there have been a lot of waiting posts... got an e-mail invite today for 2/22, no word however on whether or not there are multiple interview days or waves of invites. Hope this helps!

Not sure if everyone knows, but for those who have an interview, there is a forum for how to dress which I am finding quite useful, as this is a very important yet often overlooked aspect of the process.

University of Denver -- Social Affective track. Interviews are 2/29. This offsets my Berkeley rejection. 🙂

Still waiting here... the info that today was the last day for extending interviews came from me. Sandy told me that last week. I'm hoping that they just got a little overwhelmed because I haven't heard a thing and it's really bumming me out.

Also, I am stuck in Chicago after my Loyola interview so it's not too fun to be away from home and my computer while compulsively worried about whether or not I'm going to get a call.

If this track is still sending out invites, does anyone know if the other tracks might be as well? Has anyone heard from the child clinical track for DU?

Man, tough spot. Keep in mind you are on an adventure, and you just completed an interview, which most would kill their close relatives for....and make the most of your time trapped in Chicago!

Hello everyone. I'm new to SDN, but have been following this thread. I wanted to thank everyone for providing information as I've found it helpful, and wish everyone the best throughout this process. I would also like to thank blindchaos for starting this thread.

Just a quick update - hope this information helps:

I received a phone call on 1/25 for an interview (clinical psych phd) at Indiana University Purdue University for the end of February.

In terms of the University of New Mexico: I was contacted by my POI and we arranged for a time to speak over the phone. My understanding of the process at UNM is that professors review and conduct preliminary phone interviews with prospective candidates (the first cut). The phone interviews help narrow down the selection and then a final group is invited to the interview at UNM in March.

I spoke to the University of Connecticut and they said that all interviews have been extended for the clinical phd program.

Any information about the following schools and/or their selection processes would be greatly appreciated (clinical phd programs):
Boston University
University of Mass - Boston
Harvard
University of Rhode Island
Drexel
University of Montana
University of Utah

Does anyone know if all interviews have been extended for the following schools?
Duke University
University of Pittsburgh
University of Arizona

Welcome!

University of Mass - Boston

UMass Boston will be inviting people Feb 6-8 to interview so they'll start inviting people this Wednesday. Hope that helps! Some schools can be found on the first post and there you can find out when invites are being held and how invites were extended if that information was provided (sometimes people will just say the school name and interview dates, some will say how they were contacted and who contacted them, etc). Hope that helps!

So many of us feel your pain. You should go dig around for last year's posts by those of us who were waitlisted or who didn't get ANYTHING (even rejections) from schools. Or maybe you shouldn't, it may be more depressing.

...just know you're not alone! :luck:

Do people recommend contacting the POIs? I thought of it earlier but wasn't sure if that seems pushy? But I wouldn't want to miss a great chance either.

Thanks. I did go on last year's interview thread so I could find out when to expect certain schools to contact me.. it was helpful.

As for the schools who never say ANYTHING - it's so annoying. I'd prefer a nice rejection letter. Haha. Do they even not let you know anything come April when you seriously are flat-out rejected? I keep telling my friends I can assume rejection from 6 of my 10 schools since they've already invited and they all tell me I'm being ridiculous (mind you, none of them have gone through this process). If I call a school that's already extended invites, can I say something so that they can let me know if I'm either just rejected or wait-listed? Or do the majority of them not wait-list pre-interview?

Yes, some schools never say anything...ever. I think there were two schools last year I never heard a peep from. I'm still waiting!

Actually, I got invited for an interview after interview day was over at one of my schools last year. So, I wouldn't count any school out until after mid-April.

You can call and ask, but you may not get a response as the departments are so swamped this time of year. Some schools do waitlist prior to interview day b/c some interviews don't work out or some get offers but then the applicant declines and so they move down their list. It's all a very complicated process. There were people on this thread last year who didn't get an interview but wound up with an offer April 13th. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

I haven't seen any mention of the Univ of Utah on this website! Did anyone else apply to their clinical PhD program or has anyone heard anything regarding their interview invites?

Most people contact their POI very early in the process, around September/October. It also helps to go to conferences and get to know them in those venues ...

Or do you mean do people contact their POI around now to find out if they're being considered?

Do people recommend contacting the POIs? I thought of it earlier but wasn't sure if that seems pushy? But I wouldn't want to miss a great chance either.

Yes, like contacting the POIs to see how the interview/application period is going at this stage in the game.

I feel like waiting will drive me nuts, and some secretaries are so unhelpful!

I wouldn't do it. You will either be called for an interview very shortly ... and if you haven't ... then you just have to assume you didn't make the first cut. But perhaps others will disagree.

Hey all,

I, too, am waiting to hear from SDSU/UCSD... what is the consensus? Do you think all invites have been sent or is there still hope for us? ... it's past 5pm in California 🙁

I haven't heard anything from them. Though, someone PMed me to say that my POI (Keith Renshaw) wasn't accepting students this year

Has anyone heard anything from Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City (clinical)?
