Absolutely. The worst thing they can say is no. Call 'em up and let us know what they say.

are you planning on selecting any of those hospitals?? i'm not sure what i'm going to do for that section...

I picked two that I'd heard of and been to when I was riding on Philly EMS with a friend. If you don't select one, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Got Albany this afternoon.
2 Essays:
Describe yourself (1000 Char)
If selected for in interview, what one life event would you like to talk about (160 Char)

woohoo got loyola today! was scared for a bit because they screen and i have a not-so-hot first mcat score (am still waiting for the 2nd score) so it was exciting to get my first screened secondary invite! not so exciting, however, are the 6 essays...

can somebody please post USF's questions? I am having trouble with their login screen. Thanks in advance 🙂

I got no love from Albany 🙁

albany doesn't screen though, so i'm assuming it'll be in our email soon b/c they send in batches.

hopefully, lol...

On the Dartmouth secondary where they make you list all your pre-med course work, one of the fields is "College" but they don't leave a whole lot of characters to write in, especially if you go to a "University of..." There's no university number or abbreviation they would be looking for is there?

I used an abbreviation for my college. I am sure your college has one too.

For Loyola's question:
How did you reach your decision to enter medicine? Describe your participation in any health care or other activities which reinforced your decision.

Is anyone else using their personal statement. They say that you can just put "refer to personal statement" if your personal statements answers the question but does anyone actually do it?

I actually wrote out a response to that one, but the first question, the one that's something to the effect of "talk about something that happened to you, or a decision you made, etc., that had a significant impact on you" I wrote to just refer to my personal statement because that was a large chunk of it--no use in repeating it, and I don't particularly have anything else to add to it.

I haven't received Loyola's yet, but I've seen the questions, and I'm really tempted to ask them to refer to my PS for both the "decision you made that you are proud of" question as well as the "healthcare activities that reinforced your decision" questions. Hrm.

i haven't heard anything from Georgetown, although my AAMC was verified last week, should i be worried?

Nah. Application season is just getting into full swing. Give it some more time. Maybe next week give them a call to make sure they received your primary.

nyu sec. is out. can't tell yet if there are any other essays other than the "what are your plans for this app year if you're not in school" one...

edit: no additional essays, but there is space if you wish to discuss any physical/emotional issues that may have affected your academic performance.

How d'you get it??

EDIT: Nevermind... I got two e-mails from them sitting in my inbox. 🙂
email with link to online app--they're probably sending out in batches

edit: nevermind also 🙂

How strict do you they are about the 2 science faculty letters. They say not to include research, and that is a big one for me, and I also use it as my second Science Letter.

Is it worth calling them to see if they will be lenient and let it slide?

If research is in a science department that should be OK for most schools. The only schools I know that specifically prohibit that are UCSD and Harvard.

*sigh* I got UVa's secondary invite in the ole email yesterday.

6 short essays (MSTP app)...oh well. And here I was, thinking I was all caught up (13 down, 8 to go...I think).

For University of Louisville's question "How do you assess your college record?" are they just asking us to tell them what we think of our grades? I can't tell if they want our opinion of how we did, explanations for any problems, etc. The character limit is 500, so it's not like they give a ton of space.

Just got Wake Forest's secondary.

I got an email from Wake Forest on 7/12 with a link to a status page, but every time I've tried to get in it says the system is down and will be up later in the week. It said that last week, and again this week. Did you ever actually get in? Or do they send a second email with the secondary?

I'm basically trying to figure out if that broken page takes me to the secondary, or if I should just stop trying to log in and wait until they email me a secondary.

Just got Wake Forest's secondary.

I just got Wake's secondary also, but it gives me "Your User ID is not in the system at this time" message whenever I try to log in to the secondary web page.
Does anyone have the same problem?

The email they sent me today had a link to a new page with the secondary.

That's the way I treated. I used the space to explain bad grades and give my opinion of my grades and trend.

I get an error as well. Not that one though.

I just got Wright State's but the link on their site to fill out the secondary isn't working. Is anybody else having this problem?

anyone wanna tell me WHY i want to go to temple...i kinda jus put it down cuz its close to home, but i kno NOTHING about the school. I figure i would do that after i got accepted..hahaha. any advice would be greatly appreciated

Temple also prohibits it I think.

Look on their website and find something you like about the school besides the location.

Ok, I'm done writing my short answers for Johns Hopkins application and need someone to critique them. These are extremely personal so I want someone who will make a serious effort.

In addition, has anyone received secondaries from the following schools:
Duke, Harvard, Standford, or Mayo?

At least one of the schools I'm applying to doesn't accept it... I think it might be NYU.

NYU only requires one science:
"Applicants are required to submit a premedical committee appraisal or two letters from individual faculty members. (at least one science). Both letters must be from professors who taught you in a lecture course. A letter from a lab professor or research mentor will not meet the requirement for the MD program."

Thus, you can submit one science and one non-science letter as long as your one science letter is not from a lab prof.

But they don't accept a lab professor or research mentor. I don't think it matters to the person that asked, though. *shrugs*

damn i just noticed a typo in my nyu secondary and I submitted it already 🙁

docfunk, when did u get the nyu secondary? do they screen? was it email or snail mail?

you'll get the email soon for the secondary i'm sure.

damn I'm so mad at myself right now 😡

I just got an email from UCSF saying that my verified primary app has been received from AMCAS, and that they will determine whether or not to send me an email invite to their secondary at any point between now and 12 weeks from now....

UCSF just sent an email saying they received my AMCAS data. But apparently secondaries won't be out for another 3-10 weeks.

Huh? NYU does accept letters from lab profs (as long as it's not used to fulfill the science letter requirement).

Anyone get secondaries from the following schools yet?

Albany Medical College
Creighton University
Drexel University
Howard University
Loyola University Chicago
New York Medical College
University of Maryland
Wake Forest University

I see we have one for nyu, and I saw someone got wake forest's. Ha actually like I dont already have the other 8 secondaries waiting for me, lol.
