Interesting that they told you how many interviews they've granted...is that pretty unusual? Does anyone know typically what percentage of applicants are granted interviews from school to school, either depending on the number of applications received or the number of expected offers of admission? Or would it vary enough from school to school that it would be impossible to infer?

Schools typically invite 2 to 3 times as many students as they expect they want to have in their class for interview invites. A few schools have told me how many they are inviting as well. Fordham typically invites 50-60 students and wants to accept ~15. U Mich invited 12 and want to accept 6. It all depends on the school, but 2-3 times the usual number of acceptances is in the right ball park.

Got an invite a couple hours ago from Yeshiva PsyD program. They only gave me one option - February 5, THREE days from now!!!!! I am so annoyed that they only gave me a few days notice. They didn't give me any other choices, but can I say I need to reschedule anyway?

Congrats! But how annoying. I guess you can ask if there are any other times? I heard Yeshiva has POIs contact interviewees to schedule interviews on their own time so maybe it is flexible? Do you know if all the invites went out yet? When I called last week, they said end of Feb... go figure. I don't rely on any of these phone people anymore!

Contacted by POI, phone interview on 1/30. Invited to Official Interview Day on 2/27.

Current student at UNCG here - we have not sent out invites yet, that will happen within a week or so (and it is 2/2/09 today). Dates for interviews are 2/27 and 3/2, just for your info 🙂

Thanks. That is good to know. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey,
GradSchl01- who is your POI and did that person contact you themselves? Congradulations on the interview.

Is University of Florida done sending out interviews? I need to make plans for that weekend if they are.

Contacted via email yesterday for interview for March 6th or 7th

So U. Michigan is done sending out interview invitations? I don't understand why schools (I know some of them do, but they all should) don't let you know if you AREN'T invited for an interview.

Hey everyone!

I just received an email from my POI at the University of Illinois- Chicago inviting me to an on campus interview on February 27th. I'm stoked!! I had an initial phone interview on Sunday night, so I guess I am one step closer 🙂

Anyone hear from SLU (saint louis university) or Central Michigan yet about interview invites?

thank you so much. That really sets my mind at ease. I have been anxiously awaiting to hear back from the Clinical Program at UNCG. Keeping my fingers crossed I get the chance to be interviewed.

I assume so, invites went out a month ago, and admissions weekend is next week.

I had a phone interview with two different POIs yesterday together for UIC. haven't heard back about an interview invite yet though...

To those who got rejected from Loyola, did they include a form you can send in to have your application be considered for one of their master's programs? What are your thoughts on that as an option if you don't get into any of the programs you wanted to?

Did you get an official rejection from them with a form? How did you hear about this?

Hey, I was wondering, what exactly is shortlisting/waitlisting? Are they the same thing? How do you know if you are one of them? Do you still have an interview? Would you be told immediately, or would they wait until they have conducted all the interviews, and if there are still openings, then they call you? Basically, I am wondering why the school's don't seem to be telling people outright that they have been rejected. Is that because there is still the possibility that you could be put on a short/wait list? You'd think that they would just put people out of their misery, but they don't seem to be doing that....

I second that... I haven't heard anything from any of my schools either way even though I know a lot have sent out invites already...

I'm not sure if I would call it shortlisting or waitlisting yet, but I think they have a group of people they would be okay with inviting for another round of interviews should the first round not go well.

I'm in the same boat you guys are, though, so it's just a guess.

Yes, I received an official rejection letter by snail mail (*sniff*) and an accompanying letter and form were also in there for the masters program part I mentioned.

Hi everyone,

I've been reading this forum for a long time but this is my first post.

I wanted to fill you in on what I know (or am pretty sure about) based on my experiences with the schools I've applied to -- all clinical psych Ph.D. programs.

I am pretty sure these schools are done extending interviews because their interviews are this coming weekend (unless there's a rare circumstance in which a bunch of invited interviewees cancel their interviews): Duke, Penn State, George Mason, U Mass-Amherst, and University of Denver.

I don't think these schools have extended all their interview offers, but I could be wrong: UVA-Charlottesville, Stony Brook, GW (again, all these are clinical psych -- I know people have already received interview invites for GW PsyD), and Minnesota's non-child track (and my understanding is that Minnesota doesn't do in-person interviews -- they might do phone interviews but they invite you in person once you're accepted).

Just a friendly reminder to those of you with interviews... some of us grad students are browsing through Facebook to look at profiles of people who are coming to interview. This is the time to remove any material that would make us question whether we want to work with you for the next few years. I don't mean to sound rude or threatening, but sometimes people forget that things like Facebook can reflect badly on them. 🙂

I had not thought about that. Thanks for the heads up. I feel that most people's pages are private these days though.

I just e-mailed the DCT and BC is done inviting people for interviews 🙁 He said if you indicated interest in their MA program, you'll hear about that in a few weeks

wow i got my rejection letter via snail mail too, but there was no such form attached. i'm not even good enough to make the cut for forking over to their masters program??? wtf

*Edit* haha I just went back and read this and thought you were talking about Loyola Chicago. got to read things better, lol! but I did get an offer from Umass Boston that I could apply to masters programs there and they would waive the fee... woohoo, thanks a bunch! 😛

Check profile pic and set ALL access to private (friends only). Same goes for myspace.

Also google yourself. It's always a good idea to monitor your web presence regularly. If there is questionable material - you can ask the poster to please delete!

Yeah, does anybody know if they are done already? I hope not!!!

Yeah, I am almost positive that they are done sending out invites. I talked with her a week or two ago, and she said that they were sending them out Wed., Thur., Fri., and that they were aiming for Mon. being the last day. (Strangely, and disorientingly, I cannot remember whether this was this past week, or the week before). You should just call her. I am sure she will check your app for you. It's like ripping a bandaid off! 😉

Anyone know if Lehigh and/or UIUC for their programs in counseling psych are done sending out invites?

Phone interview scheduled for next week at U Washington - POI contact me this AM

I'd be psyched, but i seem to do so poorly on my phone interviews 🙁

Just incase anyone's interested:

"We are still working on inviting applicants for the February 27 and March 11 Admissions Days. We're hoping to get all of the letters out within the next 2 weeks. Letters for the March 11 date will be sent out around February 18, if not earlier."

So...does anyone know if URI has already made their interview decisions? I saw that one person already has an interview but I thought they wouldn't be contacting pple for a while. Anyone know any more details?

Thanks

**edit** just sent an e-mail to uri. They said they are sending out invites this week via e-mail and whoever doesn't get an invite will get a regret e-mail**

There are three primary possibilities for why you may not hear for a while.

First, some schools will have a second round of interviews if they didn't find who they were looking for in the first batch (this doesn't happen a lot but it does happen).

Second, some schools will interview candidates, make offers and then not as many people accept as they had estimated. In this case, then they may either: a) make additional offers to people they already interviewed; b) interview more people; OR c) make an offer to someone they were originally interested in but who didn't make the original interview cut. While being accepted without ever having been interviewed (at a school that usually interviews) is not typical, it has happened to several people on this forum over the last two years. The hard part about this scenario is that it often happens in April and can happen after the 15th (since schools may not know who is accepting/turning down offers until that date).

The third primary reason you may not hear back quickly is that the schools are busy and are more focused on the candidates they are interviewing vs. those they aren't. Tough to say but it kinda makes sense.

Sorry for the lengthy reply. Hope it is helpful. 🙂

Hey everyone!

I just got an interview invitation from Marquette U's Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. This is my 2nd interview, wahoo!

Hey All!

Just wanted to let everyone know that U Denver is still combing through their Early Consideration applications, so don't panic if you haven't heard anything yet 🙂 FYI My application was completed 26 Nov, and they're just getting to my app (according to a very nice admissions lady yesterday).

What do you mean by Early Consideration?

What do you mean by Early Consideration?

UD Had/has two deadlines: Dec 5th for "priority consideration" and Jan 5th for final application deadline. I'm not sure how they rank and file the different application submission dates.

I met a guy at the MSPP interviews last weekend who applied to UD after I did, was invited to interview two weeks ago, but his interview date was the last of three interview days. My hope is that they lump all the priority consideration folks together, then go through them alphabetically....? This (very weak) theory is based on the knowledge that several priority consideration people have already gotten their rejections...

HTH!

Are you talking about the child clinical program? I know the deadline of the child clinical program at DU was December 1st with no qualifications of early vs. late deadlines.

Received via snail mail today 2/3 for 2/27 [ which is my birthday 🙁 ]

Same info is found on their website...I would assume it is not a formal interview invitation but if you are interested, I highly recommend attending the session.

I got an interview invite to Spalding University's PsyD program yesterday (2/2). The interview dates are Feb 27, March 2, March 6.

My first interview notification!😀
