Official 2013-2014 Pulm/CCM fellowship application cycle

rejection : Univ Washington ... says your chances of matching are low...:scared:

:wtf: Did they say chances of matching with them or generally? Either way, that is one bad rejection email! 👎 West Coast programs like Stanford, UCSF, UW, etc tend to be elitist, so F*** em!😀 😛 :beat:

I've avoided checking my mail for a month. No joke. All I get is junk anyway. Today I bravely went down, 30 minutes into tearing up junk I found myself at the end of the stack - no snail mail invite, but hey -- at least i got me off my mail man's bad side.

On the other hand, I got an invite a couple of days ago from a program that was already on the board for 3-4 days. I waited till the end of clinic to schedule and noticed that 2 of 5 days were already gone. I chose a day yesterday and today hanged my mind and logged on again to change it. Guess what? only 1 spot left on 1 interview day.

Got me thinking, does this mean that for those programs that have been on our list for some time we can deduce an invite isn't likely to be on the way?

Haha I was gonna say... Your first reply was almost as harsh as UW's choice of words. 😛

It's been getting a little tense on this thread lately. Let's all take a moment to pause... and do some gas exchange. ::sigh::

Hope tomorrow brings some good news.

Northwestern
CCFlorida

Isn't it implied with our existing list of invites/rejections? I feel like running 2 separate lists will be confusing... just my 2 cents.

Both Northwestern and Columbia have sent out invites. I agree having 2 lists is pointless. If not listed on the master list then you can assume no invites have been sent out.

Good luck to everyone, I have a question for you guys.I'm IMG doing my first year on a Small University Program What are my chances to match in an Pulm/CCU program in a Good university ?

Depends on more than that. Your visa and research will have some bearing. Of course your LOR will do so too. Everything else being equal, i think You will get betters calls for iD than for pulm&ccm (given your other post). Pulm/CCU is something I've not heard of.

It is true that you will get better call from ID or probably nephro I think, compare to PCC.

If you really wanna do PCC, try to build up your profile and go for it. I am also IMG with H Visa (the last thing the program want to see in your CV .... 😀 ), got 3 calls from university program. I think ppl in this form who are not on H might have at least 6-7 IV so far. I expect a few more calls in the next few weeks and will done my best for all my interview. GL.

I agree it was a slow week. Hope the season isn't over haha! I think the next big wave of interviews will be out this week or next. Mid/late August is what previous posters/fellows have said with regard to the new shorter application cycle. Crossing my fingers I'll have some great news after boards tmrw... Good luck everyone!

Did you graduate from a university program any publication ?

Thank you for your interest in the fellowship program at Henry Ford Hospital. Although we were favorably
impressed with your application and curriculum vitae, we have decided to
pursue other candidates at this time.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

How the hell you are favorably impressed and choose some or else is it an polite rejection

UW has been sending that SAME email like douches for years.

Trust me. You don't really want to train there.

They did you the favor.

I do not understand this post. Is something wrong with UW's training program? I thought UW's pulm/cc fellowship had a great academic and clinical reputation.

I can't believe it.. it's so quiet for me for so many days now.. no activity in my inbox.. I thought this time of the season is the most active one.

Is something "wrong" with UW? Heh. It all kind of depends on your perspective.

You want "reputation", you'll get it, for sure (UW is a top 5 spot academically speaking for pulm/cc) . . . but at what cost. You decide.

Congrats on UCSD!

I think the only CA schools we have yet to hear from are Stanford, Cedars-Sinai, Cal Pacific, and maybe UCSF Fresno?
