do programs look at quality of publications or quantity of publications?

I'd say your chances are pretty good...but what do I know?

How long did it take you to amass those numbers? Have you been an IM attending for a number of years or did you do this all while in residency? If the latter is true, that's really something.
Quality > Quantity to answer johnsmith's question, but I'm sure your research is both.

IMG hurts, USMLE scores neither hurt nor help, University Program helps, as do excellent LOR. Your research numbers look great, but again, quality prevails.
I think you should get a very good number of interviews!

There is no universal answer. Are you the real deal, or is it a bunch of padding and BS? How old are you? Have you applied before? Something does not add up with that many publications you cannot be a PGY3. Why have you not applied before with all those publications?

You can match GI with only a poster presentation if you have the right pedigree. You are an IMG with mediocre board scores, and will unfortunately get screened out at a number of programs. You have more research than 99.9% of residents that match GI.

Believe it or not I accumulated all of the research publications etc. since I started my first year of IM residency. The majority of it is pubmed indexed with some high to lower tier journals. So a mixture of quality/quantity. I'm 32 years old since this month. My motivation was that I wanted to do something that would make programs look over the fact that I'm a IMG.

Great credentials Drcoopsurg, everything looks pretty good but your scores could have been better. Anyways, I do not know if your chances are high or low, I am not a program director, but I guess they are high, if I had to say something I'd say you'll match, even if your research is not high-quality as people are trying to imply in previous comments, you research numbers show a great amount of effort and interest. I wish everybody a good interview season and hope we all match.

BTW anybody got interviews or rejections so far? post your credential guys?

Impressive credentials drcoopsurg. Wish you the best of luck. If I had half as many publications I would be set. Good luck to everyone this season

Outlier.

As I said, you can match GI with only a poster presentation or an abstract. It is the pedigree and the total package. There is more to an application than your list of publications. There is a reason that guy is applying to every program in the country.

Frankly, that many seems almost suspicious. No one could reasonably be that involved with so many projects in a meaningful way.

Should the number of fellows per year matter in terms of rating the program ?

Usually the trend of interviews starts by Mid-August?

Congratulations to everyone who got invites. Quick question : what does it mean " Not yet retrieved" in ADTS? I have applied 3 days ago, but this is not changing for many programs on my list. Also, do you have to have PTAL letter in order to apply for GI fellowship in CA programs?

Congrats to all who got interviews. keeping fingers crossed and awaiting for aug. All the best and hope everyone of us match!!

No invites here yet...
but on the plus side, a couple of programs downloaded my app today, haha.

On ADTS you can tell because the dates will show up in purple font as opposed to black. At least this is what I surmise...

what does it mean your application has not yet been retrieved in ADTS? something to worry about?

I think that just means that the program has not downloaded your application

It means you won't match. Start applying for hospitalist jobs now.

😀

No, not something to worry about. Lots of programs haven't downloaded apps yet.
I'm not sure, but if it says "not retrieved" the program may not even be set up yet to receive applications.
On my screen some of them read "not retrieved" (just a few) but the majority say "Available as of" whereas others keep updating every other day.

Based on last years trend, the July 23rd was the start...Seems like a quiet day so far. Time to apply for a hospitalist position as well 🙂

Remember that we submitted 2 weeks later this year! May push back interview invites as well. A contact at one program told me they're sending out invites early-mid August.

Did we really apply 2 weeks later this year? I thought last year they submitted ERAS on July 15th as well. But thanks for the info, guess it's still early. My colleagues applying to nephro/endo are already getting interviews but I guess they send out early.
