Hey guys, my exam is Aug 30th...been very stressed since i recently started studying! I had achilles surgery about a month and a half ago, still not up to speed obviously lol but I'm starting to really buckle down now. My question for those of you who recently took the exam, is the subject content on your exams similar to what you've heard before? For example, is pharm and path still almost half the exam, the 2 most highest yield subjects? I heard physio is much less on it now, but it's still something that needs to be known so you can solve some path problems?
Another questions I had was the amount of "low-yield" subjects on the exam now. I've heard recently that people have had about 30 questions of biochemistry, and also a little more anatomy than usual (about 15-20 questions). Did you all feel this is true for your exams?
Overall, I've heard that the exam has truly changed this spring/summer. I've heard NUMEROUS people telling me that they thought it was ridiculously difficult, definitely more so than they've heard from past test-takers. My study strategy is the following:
- Pathoma (already completed), also listening to Goljan audio while in the car or while running/walking just to keep my brain thinking of this stuff (kinda helps to be honest!).
- First Aid - I'm using Pharm straight out of first aid, and using Uworld to supplement whatever isn't in FA.
- First aid Plus UWORLD - I'm using First aid with Uworld to go over each subject. The only subjects I've used exterior books is Pathoma and BRS Physiology. Both were highly recommended. Also I gave kaplan behavioral sciences a read, and will read over it probably 2x more (easy read..i liked it).
- NBMEs - I'll take at least 5 NBME's in this time..along with completing Uworld 2x (once for notes, second to test my knowledge and be able to EXPLAIN what answers are on each question), along with Uworld SA 1 and 2.
Do you guys suggest I should spend extra time on things like anatomy and behavioral and neuroscience? From what I've heard regarding anatomy is that I should stick to the nerves and blood supply, esp upper and lower limbs. Or just in general MSK section in FA is good. Neuro anatomy I've heard is about half of the anatomy questions lol so I guess neuroscience is something that should be stressed a bit more regarding anatomy in general?
Anyways, I apologize for the long post. I'm new to this forum, but have tried looking at recent test takers experience about the subject breakdown that they have had. I was honestly hoping my exam would be a crazy amount of microbiology :/ Since that seems to be my best subject lol I'm doing well in path also, uworld really hammered home high yield details that i was able to write into FA, along with the great pathoma! Pharm is kinda weak :/ I feel like it's a lot of just memorization, and here and there it's conceptual.
I'll appreciate any and all advice/responses! Best of luck to all of you waiting for your results, I reallyyy hope all of you do great!
